The Throne Is Mine
Chapter 83

Chapter 83: Chapter 83

"I’m sorry all that I could show you about this kingdom is a garden. We would have to sneak out and wear disguises for me to show you around without anyone getting scared of you. Can you," she paused to inch closer to Killian so that the Blackwell guards watching over her would not hear her words. "Can you fly us out of the castle tonight for me to take you around?"

"Princess," Killian whispered. "I think this is more about you trying to see my wings. All you needed to do was ask."

"Really? I mean," Amelia cleared her throat. She didn’t propose sneaking out just to see his wings but she was just excited he had not shot down letting her see them. "I want you to see the good side of my land. That was all. We should meet three hours after dinner when the castle is not busy with servants and visitors. That is when I normally sneak out-Oops," she bit her lip.

"Your guards are truly terrible if you can sneak past them. You with no training on how to be stealthy can pass by men who should have years of training before being able to guard the castle? Hilarious," Killian said in a dull tone. The Blackwells made it too easy for a man like him. He was finding taking over the Blackwell castle to be boring because of how easy it was.

"That’s because Cyrus would be right by my side to help me get out. Our guards are good but they were just under the commands of people who lacked good strategies and tactics. Of course, we would lose to you with my father as king and your people being so much stronger. It won’t be so easy for you to enter the castle again. Not that you need to because of our truce," said Amelia.

"What makes you so confident?"

"Fraser’s paranoia. The last king was murdered while he slept and Fraser will feel like the north will be one day out to get him even with a truce. He’s bound to have as many guards as possible around the castle and the borders. It will be beneficial as the people will be more protected but I hope this doesn’t mean they will be in a cage because Fraser wants to be so protected that he feels the people might be out to get them," said Amelia.

"I see. We should continue this talk back in the castle," Killian informed her. He noticed one of the Blackwell guards kept taking a peek at them and was repositioning himself to try to get closer to where they sat.

This was a guard more so for Amelia than himself which meant someone was watching the princess and this guard would report whatever they were talking about. Anything important between him and Amelia was said in a hushed tone while they walked and sat in this garden. Still, he would get rid of the pest.

Killian stood up and offered Amelia his hand to help her up. "Princess," he whispered in her ear when she stood up close to him. On the outside, it might look like he was whispering something loving in her ear but that was far from the case. "You don’t want me to kill any more of your people but what about the ones reporting about everything you do."

Amelia smiled and looked around their surroundings, "I am well aware many of the guards work for the people in the castle. Even some of the maids which is why I only use Gina. Instead of killing them, can you please find out who they are working for? I wish to know all the names of my enemies in the castle. The ones that I never knew hated and were watching me."

"Consider this one of your wedding gifts. Just say the word whenever you want them gone. After all, your enemies become my enemies."

"Thank you for helping me up," Amelia said out loud for all the nearby guards to hear. "We should return to the castle now that we have said all that we need to. We should send someone to relay the message to Fraser and the others."

"Him," Killian pointed at the guard he caught trying to eavesdrop. "He seems competent enough."

"Inform my cousin and the others that I am leaving. Then return to travel with us back to the castle. Go now," Amelia commanded him. ’I haven’t seen him watching me before. New spies have been hired?’ She thought.

"Yes princess," the guard bowed his head.

Killian did not see why the people in the castle did not see how competent their princess was. From the way she was observing the man she just sent away, he could tell she had realized she picked out the spy. Had she been on the throne and he was fighting back against Blackwell’s attacks, she certainly would have been a good opponent.

"What are you smiling about?" Amelia inquired.

"You would have been a good queen to fight against. If your father had properly invested in making you a ruler, I wonder what tactics you would have come up with to end me. When I reached your castle in the end, I think I would have offered to marry you. No matter how I look at it, you intrigue me. Not a lot of people have done that for as long as I have been alive."

"Have you not considered finding a hobby instead of finding entertainment in other people? Please consider it," she said.

"I have tried many things to get rid of my boredom. Watching people like you has been the only way to satisfy my boredom. What stupid thing will they do next? That’s what I waited to see but then you all became predictable. Luckily, there is a rare bunch like yourself who does the unexpected," Killian replied.

Hearing this, only one thing came to Amelia’s mind and so she asked, "How old are you, Killian?"

Killian expected to hear this question far earlier than this. He was waiting for her to be curious about his age from the moment he had told her about being a demon. To tease her, he answered, "Old enough to marry."

"Please be specific," Amelia side-eyed him. How old was a demon like him that he was not answering right away? "Thirty? Fifty? More than that?!" She exclaimed after Killian gave her a look.

"Try somewhere after one hundred," he whispered.

Amelia stopped walking, completely taken aback by the fact she would be marrying someone far older than her grandfather. ’I’m marrying an old man,’ she thought and looked at the back of his body as he walked ahead. ’A good-looking old man.’

"Please give me your exact age," she began walking quickly to reach him and get the exact answer.

"I am considerably young regardless of what you think princess."

"Young my ass," Amelia muttered.

"Language princess. People are watching you," Killian reminded her of the eyes watching them now that they were leaving the garden and going back to where there were a lot of people.

Amelia bit her lip but did not regret her choice of words. Why shouldn’t a princess be able to curse once in a while? She had frustrations she needed to let out. "Oh, Cyrus," she spotted him walking out to her from beside a small group of people. "Did you find anyone suspicious?"

"A few people were wanting to throw rocks at the king and run but they were too scared and gave up. Your cousin is on the stage announcing that he will be the next king."

"That idiot," Amelia palmed her face and shook her head. "I told him there is a second day for that but he could not wait. I’m returning to the castle. It should be a bit more peaceful now that a few of my headaches are here. Did you hear that all slaves must come to the castle to be freed? We should be able to find the woman you are looking for."

Cyrus did not think this meant they would be able to find her. He knew what the people here were like. They would not want to give up what they think belongs to them. "Do you truly believe everyone will bring forward the people they bought?"

"No. Those with wealth and power will try to hide people. A search for everything they owned will be needed. If she isn’t brought to the castle, I will ask Killian to say he knows how many people are missing and request guards from each side search the entire kingdom. I will find her no matter what," Amelia promised him. After everything Cyrus did for her, she owed it to him to find the person he desperately wanted to find.

Cyrus was grateful for how hard she was working to help him but he wished she would not have to get any favors from Killian. It did not matter that Killian would be her husband. Killian was the last demon any human should receive favors from.
