The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 73
Chapter 73: Chapter 73
"Ugh," Amelia groaned. "I’m hungry," she opened her eyes.
"Why am I on my bed?" Her tiredness left her body as the only thing she had on her mind now was the fact she was not meant to be in her bedroom right now. She was supposed to be in town with Killian informing the people of her marriage and the death of her father.
Amelia didn’t have to look outside to know that a lot of time had gone by and she missed her plans for today. "How did I fall asleep? Killian," she started to recall his visit to her room, and midway into their conversation, everything went black. Now here she was waking up. "Did he put me to sleep?" She asked herself as she slowly sat up.
It was like surprise after surprise when Amelia sat up and found Gina resting against her bed, clearly sleeping. It was even more surprising to spot Cyrus on one of her chairs fast asleep. "What the hell is going on?"
"Princess?" Gina sat up rubbing her eyes. "Princess!" she exclaimed after realizing Amelia was actually awake. "Did you rest well?"
"Why are the two of you sleeping in my bedroom and what became of the tour I was supposed to have with Killian?"
"The king of the north canceled it. He apologized for having something to do out of the blue. He covered for you surprisingly. Did something happen between the two of you?" Gina didn’t see why Killian had covered for Amelia.
"No," Amelia replied. "I slept pretty well without waking up until I was well rested."
Amelia found it hard to believe but a demon was involved in helping her finally fall asleep. Who would have ever thought a demon would be the solution she had been searching for? "Why are the two of you in here fast asleep?"
"Cyrus was clearly tired so I told him to take a rest while I watch after you," Gina answered.
"But you were fast asleep when I woke up," Amelia tossed the sheet from covering the lower half of her body to get off the bed and prepare to deal with being missing for so long.
"I will never task anyone with my duty again," Cyrus stood up from where he previously laid. He was clearly a fool to trust that Gina would watch over Amelia well.
"Hey!" Gina looked back and forth between the two other people in the room. It felt like she was being scolded by them when this was a simple mistake. "I was tired like the two of you were. I can’t help that I fell asleep after waiting hours for the two of you to get up."
"I’m not upset with you, Gina. I’m just surprised to see the two of you in my bedroom fast asleep and then there’s the fact I had fallen asleep without any problems. At least we all got a good rest. It’s long overdue after everything that happened in the castle. We won’t be able to know if someone came looking to see me. I have to freshen up quickly," Amelia could puke after smelling the dress she wore more than she needed to.
Her body was covered in sweat as the dress was not made to be slept in. Plus, it didn’t help that it was most likely nearing noon and she had not taken a bath yet.
"Allow me," Gina hopped out of her seat and ran to the bathroom. She was determined to make up for falling asleep.
"Relax your shoulders, Cyrus. Nothing happened while all of us slept and I have a feeling as if that man is nearby making sure that I am safe. Who would have imagined that Killian Bune would become my protector? Whatever he did to make me fall asleep, I need it to happen again tonight," said Amelia.
She would need to extend the invitation for Killian to visit her when it was time for bed. She felt more energized after sleeping and with an entire night’s rest, Amelia would be ready to handle what was coming next when the north and Blackwell would try to coexist with the help of a truce.
As much as Cyrus did not want Killian anywhere near Amelia’s room, he was glad to see her finally being able to sleep without constantly having to wake up. He needed the rest and if Killian could help her, he would push what he felt about the man to the side. "It’s best you let him come to you secretly to avoid talk," he advised her.
After spending a lot of time in this kingdom, he saw how humans loved to destroy each other’s reputations far more than demons did to each other. He didn’t want anyone to say Killian had slept with Amelia before their wedding was held. No matter what, he would not allow anyone to ruin Amelia’s reputation when she was on the path to becoming a great queen.
"So, he’ll have to fly up to my balcony. Wonderful," Amelia became excited to see his wings. "I will pay him a visit to let him know. Cyrus, return to your room to freshen up and change your clothes. If I am disgusted by wearing this dress for so long, so should you with your clothes. Do not argue with me about me. Just hurry off so that you can return to my side quickly."
Amelia then left Cyrus by himself to go inside her bathroom with Gina to get changed.
"Go, Cyrus!" He heard her yell from inside the bathroom.
After Gina’s failed attempt to watch over Amelia while he rested, Cyrus didn’t feel like leaving the two alone but once again he was in a difficult position where he would have to go. He could smell the sweat coming from Amelia’s body and his own. Any other demons would be able to smell him clearly if he did not clean his body.
’I only need to be back before she steps out,’ he disappeared into thin air.
Inside Amelia’s bathroom, Gina helped her take off her dress while the water filled the tub.
"Amelia, be honest with me. Do you feel something for Killian Bune? What’s happening between the two of you is so unexpected and I’d like to think I know you well enough to understand it but I don’t. Why was he in your room putting you to bed?" Gina asked as she could not get rid of the image of Killian holding Amelia. "Not too long ago he was your enemy and now he is your husband. Future husband I mean."
"Until the truce has been formed, he is still my enemy but from the moment we get married, he will be our ally. I feel nothing towards Killian. Not love nor hate him even though I should hate him. Our side did start this war and so he retaliated to fight for his people. A marriage between the two of us is needed. Why?" Amelia looked over her shoulder at Gina. "Why did you ask?"
Amelia asked this because the reason why she was marrying Killian should be apparent. It was all for her people, not because she had feelings for him. She hardly knew the man.
"It was just a little bit odd for me to learn that you fell asleep in his arms when you have trouble falling asleep on a regular basis. That must mean you are comfortable with him right? You won’t let whatever you are feeling make you forget how dangerous he is right?"
"I said I feel nothing, Gina. I was tired, fainted, and luckily caught by Killian before I hit the floor. I will have so many people questioning this marriage and the fact I will be going to the north. Not you too, Gina. Before we travel to the north, I must become as close to Killian as I can. I will only have him and Cyrus by my side," said Amelia.
Gina paused from helping Amelia take off her dress. "Just him and Cyrus? What about me?"
Amelia sighed, not ready to have this conversation with Gina yet but they were here now. "You will not be coming with me to the north, Gina. I cannot ask for you to give up the life you have here and follow me-"
"But Cyrus will go with you!" Gina yelled, deeply frustrated with being left out of the mix again.
"Cyrus is a northerner, Gina. It makes sense for him to return to his home. Gina, I am not leaving you out of helping me. I need you here with my grandmother," Amelia turned around to face Gina. "Killian has ordered my grandmother to stay and watch over Fraser while he rules. I need you to be by her side in my absence. There is no one but you that I can trust to watch over her."
"I am meant to be by your side. I am meant to be helping you, Amelia."
"You will be helping me here in this castle."
