The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 333
Chapter 333: Chapter 333
"Wife? Amelia was not to marry you. I have already promised her to someone else and they were on the way. Amelia cannot marry someone from the north!" Richard yelled, angered by this news.
He made a deal with a neighbouring kingdom for Amelia to marry one of the princes so their kingdoms would be united. With the armies of two kingdoms, the Blackwells would have stormed the north. Even though he was dead, this plan was supposed to be continued.
"She already did and so much time has passed since we wed. It might only feel like you have been here for a day, but more time has passed. Your nephew took to the throne, but he has lost it. He is now somewhere in the underworld with you. Here in this special place for people like you. Do you like it?" Killian asked, looking around the small room.
Though it was specially made for royals, it was nothing like the castle Richard once lived in. It was small and only appeared big when the torture started. If Richard were to somehow break out of the rope tied around him and get out of his room, he would think he was running out of here and all over the underworld, but it would just be the tiny room playing with his mind.
"Underworld?" Richard replied, looking at the walls of the room which had no windows to see the outside of where he was now.
If this was the underworld, he should not be here. He should have moved on to the world the priests said awaited him. He was once a king therefore it was not the underworld that he was meant to be in. He was meant to be in a happy place that would continue to treat him like a king.
"Yes. You know the place where demons live, souls pass through for it to be decided which realm they should go in, and people like you are tortured. It is my real home and now, your home. I hope they have been treating you well. As your son-in-law, I will make sure they pay special attention to you," Killian said.
"This is your home? You’re a demon," Richard realised the truth. He thrashed and turned to get out of the rope holding him.
"So you didn’t know. Your mother had no faith in telling you the truth. A descendant of priests who was also a king not having the slightest clue about the people in the north. You could have teamed up with your mother and made weapons to kill demons with, but she kept you in the dark. You would have still died, but you might have lived longer."
"Did you know about your mother and the priests? Were any tales ever told to you and you did not believe them?" Killian asked, curious about how much Margaret might have told him, but he had not listened.
Margaret had to pass off her knowledge from the priests to someone. Had she skipped Richard and planned on that person being Amelia?
Richard knew nothing about what Killian spoke about. What did priests have to do with demons and his mother? "What happened to my mother?" He asked.
Richard knew Amelia and his mother were close, but seeing that she had it in her to harm her own father, he was worried about his mother.
"I will leave those answers for Amelia to tell you when she comes to see you. It will be a good wedding gift from me to show her the current state of her proud father. I must ask, how does it feel for the daughter you ignored to now have a claim to two thrones? I will gladly help her remove your name from the history of your former kingdom," Killian smiled.
Soon the Bune name would be spoken of while the Blackwell name would be forgotten.
Richard lowered his head. Amelia was not to sit on his throne. Not when he was not certain she was his.
"You were told by a witch that she was a golden child. Did that honestly make you jealous of your own daughter? I know kings crave to have a son to take the throne after them, but you could still love your daughter. I am yet to figure out why you hate her so much. She is your daughter. She smells like you," Killian said in case Richard thought she wasn’t his.
The day he stumbled upon Amelia in the carriage, he smelled that familiar Blackwell scent.
"Do you have any idea how foolish it is for you to treat your daughter less than a stranger because you believe she might not be your flesh and blood? Seeing that you were tortured by having to watch Anne have sex with Leonard, you must have believed Amelia was his daughter, right?" Killian asked, stooping down before Richard who would not meet his eyes.
Where was the former king’s cockiness? That behaviour that allowed him to send his own daughter as bait for an enemy without caring what might have happened to her.
"Anne and Leonard loved each other first, didn’t they? You got jealous and wanted what he had so you ordered the castle guards to bring her to you. You took what your friend had and expected she would love you because you were king. It pissed you off that she couldn’t show you the love she gave to a man who was just your guard so you brought countless women into the castle to get your wife to react."
"Even if Amelia weren’t your daughter, why should you be upset after you trapped her mother in the castle? Gave your friend the position of being your guard and forbidding him from leaving so he could watch you walk around with the woman he loved. Isn’t that how the story went? I have watched humans for thousands of years and know your tricks. Is that not how it went?"
Richard kept his head low, looking at the floor instead of the man before him. As king, he could have whatever he wanted and when Leonard told him of the stories of a woman he had met and fallen in love with, why shouldn’t he get to experience it?
Anne was just as beautiful as Leonard described when Richard looked at her after the guards had lured her out by using Leonard to find her. He wanted her as his queen and he got her. He felt on top of the world having Anne by his side and seeing Leonard not react to it. His friend went back to protecting him and did not yell at him for taking Anne.
Richard owned everything in the kingdom as king therefore Anne never belonged to Leonard.
"Amelia is your blood daughter. When she comes to visit you and she stands before you, remember that when you think about all the things you have done like sending her to be bait for me. If she didn’t want to see you, I would just," Killian said, grabbing Richard’s throat and forcing him to look up at him. "I would kill you. Twice. Make it so a fool like you could never be reborn."
"You are no son-in-law of mine," Richard replied, spitting in Killian’s face. Regardless of Amelia being his daughter, he did not care for her. She was always defiant unlike everyone else who hung onto his every word and obeyed him.
Richard had an inkling that Amelia had helped turn Anne against him. She was always close to Leonard and he knew that Amelia would help her mother run away with Leonard.
"Do not spit on my floors," Lucifer said as he entered the room. He was enjoying the show by just looking in, but when he saw the spit, he knew he had to come inside. "Remember, Killian. You want to give Amelia a chance to speak to her father. You can do whatever you want to him when she is finished."
Killian let go of Richard before his body could move on its own to set him on fire and wipe away Richard’s existence in the underworld. He was going to keep his promise and let Amelia speak to her father. "Try spitting on my wife when she comes here and I send you to a place that will make you wish I had killed you."
"King Richard. I have been waiting to have a word with you. The man who enslaved my demons," Lucifer spoke, glaring down at the weak man. "You don’t look like a king. The kings before you, you could pick them out in a crowd even if you had never seen them before. They walked with an aura of a king around them. You look like a man who wouldn’t be able to defend himself from a child."
"Killian, does it concern you that your child might take after the Blackwells with their weakness? I can’t remember the last day I saw one of their kings pick up a sword to fight their own battles. It might have been over a hundred years ago when you fought one of them for trying to claim the north and you killed them."
"Child?" Richard repeated, looking at Killian. Nothing disgusted him more than knowing Amelia was pregnant by this man. For a Northerner. It was already bad enough she kept that other dog beside her as a guard. What had become of his court for them to allow Amelia to wed and have a child for this man? He had other plans for her and they were ruined.
"She couldn’t be carrying your child."
"If you don’t care for her, why does it matter whose child she carries? I don’t understand humans," Lucifer concluded.
