Chapter 330: Chapter 330

"You!" Cyrus exclaimed, moving to get Killian’s hand out of Jahi, but his body froze before he could get two steps close to doing anything. His body felt paralyzed and it could only be the work of Killian.

"Don’t," Killian warned Cyrus as he dug his hand further into Jahi’s chest to end her life. "I gave the two of you time to talk. I have better things to do than wait here for you to convince her to leave."

The two of them kept talking in circles, saying things Killians heard before. Why waste more time talking when Jahi could just die? Amelia’s problem was now gone.

Jahi stood wide-eyed as a sensation instead of pain filled her body. She felt drained like he was stealing all her energy from her body the more he pushed his hand into her. She could not find the strength in her body to fight him because of the weakness that overcame her body. She could only gasp and wince as he dug deeper and the pain finally came.

Her body felt lighter when Killian started to pull out his hand and she felt him pulling something along with him. There was so much more she wanted to say about Amelia and how Killian was failing his demons. They had a chance to wipe out the Blackwells, but Killian was wasting just to love a human who might one day turn on him.

"Cyrus," Jahi whispered, looking to him for help. Her eyes fluttered for a moment before they finally closed.

Killian didn’t see how it could have been hard for Cyrus to catch this woman, but then again, they were both lowly demons. Both with no special talents other than being able to heal like every other demon in the underworld.

"She did not have to die," Cyrus said through gritted teeth. He fought to break out of whatever Killian placed him in. He closed his eyes to avoid watching life leave Jahi’s body. For demons like them, there was no coming back after this.

Jahi didn’t have a soul for her to enter the underworld like humans and other creatures when they died. There was no chance for her to be reborn either. That was not a gift granted to demons. They simply just die.

Killian removed his hands from Jahi’s body and watched it fall to the floor. The simple-minded fool behind him did not listen. Anyone who targeted his wife deserved to die.

"Stop being a fool. You could have never convinced her to leave Amelia alone. How much time has passed since you rescued her and she still has my wife on her mind? She was even willing to work with Agramon who would have disposed of her afterward. You’re allowing your love for her to stop you from thinking clearly," Killian said.

He was certain he could hear the cracking noise from Cyrus’s heart breaking but that did not concern him.

"You’re going to hate me forever for being the one to do what you couldn’t and I honestly don’t care. I am going to give you a choice. You can go back to being Amelia’s guard since she is worried about you, you can quietly live on the north, or die. I suggest the last one, but I will be fair and let you pick. I am only being kind to you because you were by Amelia’s side when she needed someone."

As much as Killian wanted to use this time to kill Cyrus, his mind would not let him forget that in this big castle, Cyrus and Gina were Amelia’s friends. He needed to reward Gina for all her efforts to take Amelia. For following Amelia to the north despite the fact she was scared. Letting Cyrus have a chance to live now was his reward.

"You are being kind to me? You just killed the only woman I have loved," Cyrus said, keeping his eyes closed as he could not bear to look. He no longer heard Jahi breathing and it was only his heart along with Killian’s that he heard.

He didn’t think a demon like Killian should have a heart.

"Well, yes. That was why I said you would hate me. More than you already do of course. Hurry up and make your choice. I have other places to be," Killian said, bending down to touch Jahi’s body.

With a small touch from his finger, a blue flame started and engulfed Jahi’s body. The dead body of a demon would attract too many things into the castle. There were already the three witches in the castle who were picking apart everything dead they could find. He didn’t need them stumbling across this body because then Amelia would know what he had done.

Cyrus wanted nothing more than for Killian to drop dead. He finally opened his eyes to see Jahi’s body burning. He clenched his fists, heartbroken by the sight of it.

In the end, he could not save her. He wanted to yell at Killian and say he made the wrong choice, but deep inside, he knew he would have never been able to convince her to leave Amelia alone. Jahi desperately needed someone to take her anger out on and that person was unfortunately Amelia.

"I don’t have all day for this-"

"Release me," Cyrus said, lowering his head to look down at the floor instead of Jahi’s remains that were slowly going away. "Release me and I will leave to the north."

He could not stand to be around Killian right now even though he had done what was needed. He needed time to grieve the loss of Jahi and unfortunately, that meant he could not be by Amelia’s side as her guard right now.

Killian thought that since Cyrus was so wrapped up in love, he would have asked to die. It would have made him feel happy that Cyrus was asking for death.

"And what of my wife?" Killian asked as he doubted Cyrus would stay away from this castle forever.

"I won’t tell her-"

"I don’t care if you want to tell the whole world. I am asking what your friendship with her is. The number of friends she has is quite low. Has it become shorter because you have lost your lover? I would like to know so I can pick a lie about your absence if needed and stick to it," Killian explained.

"Amelia did nothing wrong for me to be angry with her. She is still my friend and I will come to see her in the future, but not right now. I want to be alone," Cyrus answered.

Killian released Cyrus’s’ body from his control and walked by him since he had other people to meet with. He trusted that the demon would leave quietly instead of ruining the night for Amelia.
