The Throne Is Mine
Chapter 329

Chapter 329: Chapter 329

"Stop following me or I will change my mind and turn around to kill you," Killian said to Cyrus since he smelled the bastard following him. It would be good to kill the man and toss his body in the underworld where Amelia would find him, but Lilith would find out and he doubted she would keep her mouth closed.

"Amelia has denied those rumours about us, but you still seem to think they were true. Amelia and I were never together," Cyrus repeated for the hundredth time. He had hoped by now that no one believed that ridiculous lie that started in this castle and that Killian would stop eyeing him like he wanted Amelia.

"There was no need to tell me that as I am aware you were never with my wife. If I believed it, you would be long dead," Killian replied.

"By now you should be able to trust Amelia. She would never-"

"It is not my wife I worry about. It is the fools around her like you who could not do one simple task and now my wife is in danger. It infuriates me that her life was once in your hands and the hands of the guards who ran the first chance they got. Imbeciles," Killian muttered, tempted to find all of them and kill them.

Spending time in this castle showed him how little Amelia lived as a princess. From the moment she entered the North, he treated her like a queen. There was nothing good about this castle that suited her. She deserved the finest things and this castle was just a rundown place with gold shown off at every corner to show a bit of wealth.

All the money was going into clothes and whatever interests Richard had then Fraser.

"I might not be a fighter like you, but I have kept Amelia protected. I owed her my life and I swore that I would die trying to protect her if needed. If you are still upset about the day you stumbled upon her carriage, I was pinned down by your hellhound and severely outnumbered. The Blackwell guards did not heed my warning to turn around," said Cyrus.

The Blackwells could have put up a fight the day Killian found Amelia alone in the carriage if the guards had just listened to Cyrus. He sensed Killian was near and tried to warn them, but their dislike for him being from the North cost them their lives.

"Excuses," Killian said, turning down another hall. Jahi was quite close to where they were now most likely because there was nowhere to run and avoid the other demons walking around. "Instead of telling me things I don’t want to hear, you should be running ahead of me to save your woman. No wonder she doesn’t love you. You’re slow."

Cyrus glared at Killian. He was yet to see what Amelia liked about this man. She had no choice but to marry Killian in an effort to save her people, but the Amelia he knew would not have opened her heart to Killian. She was guarded and could never trust anyone.

It was good she came out of not being able to trust anyone, but Cyrus would have liked it if it happened with anyone but Killian.

"Jahi is not much of a fighter, but if given a head start you cannot catch her as she will slip out of your fingers," Cyrus explained his reasoning for not catching her.

"The only reason she was caught when the Blackwells stepped foot into the north was that she returned to look for me after I had already told her to run. I know she is causing you trouble, but please send us into the underworld. Even if it is to a room to be tortured," Cyrus pleaded.

Anything was better than Jahi having to die. She was just hurt and wanted to take her anger out on the nearest Blackwell. There was also jealousy from her believing that he was in a relationship with Amelia because of all the rumours about him being Amelia’s sex slave.

Jahi did not love him, but she didn’t like the idea of him being with Amelia of all people.

Killian did not respond to Cyrus. He didn’t care about their sad story when the woman was looking to kill his wife. He had given a good enough warning to stay away from his wife and yet here this woman was again.

Death was much better than having to worry about her breaking out of wherever he would imprison her.

Killian stopped in front of a door to a room he had never entered before. Jahi was hiding on the inside. He could hear her panting, and her heart rushing. Her scent was also much more prominent here.

Cyrus went ahead of Killian and opened the door. In the dark room, he spotted Jahi trying to hide in a corner. There was no window to the room for her to escape. He finally had her trapped and with Killian at the door, she was not going to try to make a run out of here.

"Jahi, come out," Cyrus said, dropping his sword onto the floor as he approached her. "It is time for us to leave."

Jahi looked behind Cyrus at Killian standing with folded arms. She didn’t trust that if she left where she was hiding now he would not kill her. She was not supposed to be caught. With all the other demons, she thought he would not pick up her scent and she had heard that Killian was not in this kingdom.

She was so close to getting Amelia until she looked through the window and saw Amelia sitting with Lilith. Stumbling across Lilith was just as bad as being caught by Killian. She could not get to Amelia with the queen of the underworld around.

Having nothing better to do since his wife left him to be alone for the night, Killian leaned on the wall to watch the two fools talk. Letting them enjoy their last conversation before he would kill Jahi.

"We need to get out of this castle or you will die. Amelia was not the one who ordered for our people to be captured and taken as slaves. She is now the queen of the north and cares for demons," Cyrus said, inching closer to where she sat.

"She is still a Blackwell. If I can’t kill her father, I will satisfy my anger by killing her. She only cares now that she was forced to become his wife. All of you are protecting her when it was her family who troubled us. We should just kill her and let the Blackwell name die," Jahi said, gripping the knife she had to stab Amelia in her heart with.

Cyrus looked over his shoulder, surprised to see that Killian did not move from where he stood. Jahi was burying herself and Cyrus wished she would just shut up. "Jahi," he sighed.

Jahi stood to reveal herself from the small corner she hid in. "Do not look at me like that. That demon Agramon was the only one with sense. The only one who listened to what I had to say and agreed that Amelia should die. You, Killian, the devil, Lilith, and everyone else looking to protect her have lost your minds. The Blackwells took demons from the north-"

"That was her father’s doing," Cyrus interjected. "Amelia cannot take the blame for the actions of a dead man. She saved my life and was ready to help me find you. She wanted to save you and others, unlike her father who allowed a slave trade to happen. I know that you endure a lot of pain while on this land, but that was not Amelia’s doing."

"You know nothing of what I endured. What I had to listen to while they tried to sell me. We were not strong enough to fight back against humans with weapons. There were no souls for us to feed on to make us stronger so we could only wait to be saved."

"Finally being free and seeing you act as her guard was more painful than everything else. The Cyrus I knew would have done what was needed to make me feel free," Jahi said, feeling like the stranger stood before her.

Killian yawned, unamused by the failed love story in front of him. It had been a few years since he had seen a more pathetic relationship and he had been around for quite some time now to see many of them.

"The Cyrus you knew was helplessly in love with you and would have done anything to keep you happy. I am still that person, but Amelia is a friend and she is not deserving of your anger. Please come with me to the underworld, Jahi. It is your only chance to survive. Come with me and forget about your hatred," Cyrus said, holding out his left hand to Jahi.

"This has become boring," Killian muttered, disappearing from the wall he leaned on to stand in front of Jahi. Before Cyrus could meddle, he grabbed Jahi’s shoulder with his left hand, and used his right hand to pierce her chest, aiming for her heart.
