Chapter 282: [Bonus Chapter] Chapter 282

"What part of she is not going to die is hard for you to understand? If you are still alive in the coming days, you will be the first human we visit to show off that she is now a demon," Killian said as he picked up another priest to feed on.

Margaret was confident in the fact that she was not going to die. "Amelia would never let you kill me," she said.

"I respect Amelia’s decisions, but after your threat to cleanse her and get rid of any child we might have, I will be killing you. Stop thinking you can control what she says or does anymore. She is already disobeying you by still being married to me. It’s amusing that as priests, your souls do not taste good," Killian said, dropping the priest he fed on. He was leaving the rest for some other demon to feed on.

"Amelia wishes to speak with you about her mother and whatever secrets were kept from her during her time in this castle. I suggest you answer her honestly since there are people around her who can tell that you are lying. As much as I would love to stand around here and torture you, I need to check on my wife before her fool of a cousin tries to kill me," Killian said.

Amelia needed to give him a reward for not creating a bloody mess in the temple, though it filled his mind.

"Do not try to run away since you will not make it far, and if you somehow slip away, the world outside the castle won’t be safe for you since we know who you are."

Margaret did not understand what Killian was saying. The only thing she could piece together was that demons were currently hunting for priests. Her saving grace would be Amelia, but she needed to get to Amelia when Killian was not around.

Killian disappeared from the temple to where he sensed Amelia and found her inside their bathroom, soaking in a tub of water. His presence surprised Gina at first, but she had gotten used to demons popping out of nowhere, so she was able to calm herself quickly.

Edith, who was covered in red rashes since she was bold enough to help Amelia walk, left the bathroom with Gina to give the couple some privacy.

Killian knelt down beside Amelia, who was lying in the tub, unaware of the fact that he was there. Her eyes closed like she had fallen asleep, but he knew she was awake. "Is it still painful?"

"I can bear it now. The cold water feels nice," Amelia murmured. Never before had cold water felt so good. "My dress is ruined. I really like this one."

"I can help you dry it quickly when you get out. I’m sorry to have not moved in time so you wouldn’t have holy water burn you," Killian apologised.

"It is not like either one of us expected that I would be wounded by it. I blame my grandmother and the priests for throwing it at us. Are they dead?" Amelia asked, opening her eyes to look at Killian. There was no blood on him that she could see in this position, but she doubted he had a conversation without using violence. The priests were not in the mood to talk to a demon.

"Your grandmother is still alive. I left her in the temple, but she should soon make her way to you," Kilian answered.

Amelia noticed he only answered about her grandmother so the priests would die. The priests deaths would rile up the people since the temple was so respected, but with demons roaming the kingdom, the people wouldn’t have time to be angry about the priests.

"Has Fraser made a move to attack us? I thought he would have done it by now. At least one of our enemies wanted us to enjoy breakfast before trying to kill us," Amelia joked in an effort to lighten the mood. She could see in Killian’s gaze that he was worried for her. He had not looked away from the redness of her hand. "Why did it affect me?"

Killian touched her right hand where there was a red mark and rubbed it greatly to help heal her. "This world is full of mysteries that I cannot answer. My only assumption right now is that since you have made love to a demon, you are no longer pure, and it has affected you. You are still human in my eyes. You have not started to turn into a demon."

"That is good to know. Today is not a good day for me to be changing who I am. Now that we have gotten this over with, can someone please bring me food before the next fight starts? Those grapes weren’t enough," Amelia said, feeling like her stomach would start talking to her at any moment now.

"I will find food for you," Killian promised.

Amelia closed her eyes to enjoy the cold water against her skin. "I am going to rest here a little longer. When my grandmother comes to speak with me, please send her in. No matter how loud my conversation with her may sound, I do not want anyone disrupting us. I have many questions that need to be answered today. There is no telling who will live to see tomorrow and who won’t."

Killian disagreed since he had a long list of people here who would not live to see tomorrow. It started with the king himself.

"I will be back soon," Killian said, kissing her forehead as he released her hands.

At the moment, soaking in water was the best place for her to be since as she said, Fraser should have attacked by now. This time, Killian would have to get his hands dirty to deal with those who were hired to kill him.

"Alastor," Killian said as soon as he exited the bedroom.

Alastor, who was waiting nearby for Killian’s orders, flew down onto the balcony of Amelia’s room. There was no point in being careful when flying around since it was nearing time for humans to learn about demons.

Alastor followed Killian without any questions about where they were going now.
