The Throne Is Mine
Chapter 277

Chapter 277: Chapter 277

Killian watched Amelia draw closer to him despite her falling asleep backing him. He spent most of the night awake, listening to the busy castle. No one had made an attempt to come to their room, but it didn’t mean something wouldn’t happen today.

While he kept an eye on Amelia, Alastor kept an eye on Fraser and received information from the demons they had left here. Killian welcomed a fight from the Blackwells since he was in the mood to kill.

In the beginning, he planned to let Amelia do as she wanted here while he remained in the back supporting her decisions, but Margaret changed that. The temple would be his last stop before he would head back up the north. By then, Lilith and the others should be here with Amelia to protect her and he was making the last-minute decision to leave Alastor with Amelia.

"For someone who wanted to wake up as soon as the sun lights up the kingdom, you are sleeping quite long," said Killian.

"Leave me alone," Amelia groaned, keeping her eyes closed to get a bit more rest. Killian’s tone did not sound urgent so it still had to be quite early. "Did you hear anything strange during the night?"

"Other than you snoring? There were a few noises but they did not come this way. We should look forward to an eventful day. Let the people here try their best and then we shall take over right after," Killian said, placing his hand on her lower back. "You must not leave my side."

"I know, Killian. How many times must you tell me? I know the risk of going somewhere without you or my guards today. I like my life so I will not stray away from any of you. You, on the other hand, must not get so excited about killing someone that you stray from me. I can feel how excited you are."

Amelia opened her eyes to look at Killian who was intently watching her. "I know what my grandmother said angered you, but she is still my grandmother and I have questions I need answered from her. Questions about my mother that only she could answer. I wish I had time to read over all the storybooks my other left me but I will just have to remember them in the moment."

"I can at least scare her right?" Killian asked since he was looking forward to doing something to Margaret.

"She is old, Killian. Don’t do it to the point she might die. I want to speak to her as I said and even though I am upset right now, I cannot just get over the fact that she was always here to comfort me when I lost my mother. Before that, she was always someone to run to. I would just like for her to go back to not wanting to hunt demons. She’s fun to be around when she is just my grandmother," Amelia said.

"I doubt you can change her mind if killing me was her plan from the start The priests have had all sorts of prophecies over the years. They believe those prophecies over what they see with their own eyes. Some of the prophecies placed before them were sometimes a demon’s doing to get the priests off our trail," Killian said, chuckling as he remembered the ridiculous story he gave them.

"I don’t know where they heard what a golden child is, but at least we know my father was the one who kind of revealed that I am one to my grandmother. Maybe the stories of who they think I am changed over the years when they passed on the message to each other, or they simply bent the story to their liking. I have a feeling we will get the answer today," Amelia said, rolling over to lie on her stomach.

Killian knew from her soft gaze that she was either worrying or overthinking something. "What is it that is on your mind now?"

"The time that we will be apart. It feels like it came faster than it should have. As much as I want to take the Blackwell throne, I would have liked for time to have gone slower. You might be an untouchable demon, but I believe everyone has their weaknesses, and if you are not careful, you will be hurt. So be careful," Amelia said. She didn’t care if Killian disliked how many times she said this.

"Yes, my queen," Killian replied.

"I sense that you wish to laugh. I am going to run the water so that Gina does not have much to do when she comes. Would you like to go first? I can prepare your bath for you. You should feel honored since I have not done it for anyone else and I rarely do it for myself. Maybe when this is all over, we can take a trip and I can act like a normal wife. Cooking, cleaning, and whatever else needs to be done," Amelia said as she got off the bed.

Everything was done for her and Killian every day. She wasn’t like the many women who would have food on the table for when their husbands would come home from a long day of work. Food was prepared for her and Killian.

Killian wasn’t too thrilled with the idea of Amelia cooking for the first time and him having to be the one to eat it. She was forgetting that he did not need to eat normal food like she did, but he would consume it at dinner, so she would not be the only one eating. The thought of what the food would taste like worried him, but it was a nice gesture for her to want to take care of him.

Killian would prefer that she not lift a finger and continue to enjoy life with everything prepared for her.

When the day came that she wanted to cook for him, he would make sure to have the wolves around in case he needed to toss something for them to eat in place of him. Hellhounds eat worse things in the underworld, so they wouldn’t mind, but if they turned away Amelia’s food, Killian had something to be concerned about for their children.
