The Throne Is Mine
Chapter 275

Chapter 275: Chapter 275

Margaret sipped on the water that was already poured out for her. Annabelle should be able to quickly see that she was no longer needed, and instead of putting up a fight with someone who could expose her at any moment, she should just leave.

Margaret had a way to get out of knowing Annabelle was without a child, but Annabelle would not get out of this untouched. She would be punished for playing with the castle about carrying a royal when she was not.

For the first time since they met, Amelia felt bad for Annabelle. What made Annabelle think that Margaret would protect her forever? Amelia knew Annabelle had not spent any time looking for allies aside from Margaret because of the panicked look and then the anger replacing it.

Amelia kept her eyes on Killian, who was playing with her hand under the table. She did not want to get involved with Margaret and Annabelle’s feud, nor would she help Annabelle. This was still the same woman who once taunted her mother.

Annabelle tried hard to force herself to be in the castle, and now she could see that life here was not as wonderful as it seemed when looking in from the outside. Without Richard’s protection, Annabelle learned that it was not safe for her to be here. After all of the games Annabelle played, and what she said to Amelia, it was her turn to be played with.

"You cannot be serious," Annabelle spoke softly at first in case she was misunderstanding Margaret, but Margaret not looking her way told her she was right that Margaret had abandoned her now that Amelia was back. "You are just throwing me out because she is back?" She pointed at Amelia.

’Why am I in this?’ Amelia sighed.

Amelia jumped and looked at Killian, who was the reason behind it. She noticed him smiling, either from enjoying how many arguments there were already at the table or from the fact that his hand had landed on her thigh and given it a squeeze. Leave it to Killian to touch her inappropriately while others around them were arguing. Not just anyone, but other royalty.

"I will hurt you," Amelia warned him before his hand could move any further. The current situation they were in with her family did not put her in the same mood as Killian.

"I was your son’s woman. I deserve to remain in the castle and be taken care of!" Annabelle yelled, angered by the fact that the old hag had tossed her away already.

She knew she could not trust Margaret, but she needed Margaret, who was her only way of staying in the castle. Margaret gave her time to start planning how she would secure staying in the castle forever, even though she was without a child.

Annabelle had considered how many women had new babies that they could not afford to raise and would give them away for the right price. Getting a baby to fake being a Blackwell and then killing the mother so the secret could never be known to anyone was easy. She also needed to kill Margaret since she knew the truth.

As much as Beth would like to hear someone argue with Margaret for once, this was not the time for anyone on their side to be acting like a fool in front of Killian. Beth looked to the other side of the table at Killian, who was enjoying what was happening. The Blackwells must look like a joke in his eyes. The complete opposite of what Beth wanted him to see when he came to their castle.

"Annabelle, it should be enough that we have not forcibly gotten you out of the castle. Do not push us to that point. My brother has had many women, even before he was king. A few of them were pregnant but lost the baby because they could not carry it or someone got in their way," Beth said, glancing at Margaret, who hated babies who did not come from a wife. "We are currently taking care of you since you carry my brother’s child, but all you do is embarrass us."

Beth thought Annabelle should be grateful she was not sent out of the castle like the other women.

Annabelle rolled her eyes at the princess, who finally knew how to speak because her fool of a son was now king. "Embarrass you? Is it not embarrassing that just as the new king sits on the throne, the princess is leaving her husband over rumors of your affairs? Don’t look so surprised, Beth. I had a good talent for getting your brother to talk about many things when we were alone in bed."

"Do not speak of what you do not know," Beth snapped. She didn’t believe that Richard told Annabelle about what he had caught her doing. He had no room to speak then, and he had even made the comment that they were actually siblings after all.

Annabelle was tired of having to listen to all of them speak down on her. "The Blackwells have nothing but dirty secrets, and yet you look down on everyone else like you are not just as bad. Do your affairs not matter because you are a Blackwell? Half a Blackwell," Annabelle said to Beth, reminding her of the way she came into this world from an affair. Her gaze shifted to Fraser. "You are hardly a Blackwell. We don’t even know if you are your father’s son."

"Richard would have never allowed any of you to treat me this way. Fine, I will leave," Annabelle decided as she stood up. If she could not stay in the castle, none of these fools should have it. It would be better if the castle just burned to the ground. Then she would be satisfied with leaving it.

Before the castle would burn, she needed to take as much jewelry as she could carry so she could sell it and get far away from the castle. All of her time spent with Richard would not go to waste. Annabelle only wished that she could lock them all in their rooms before the fire started and have the pleasure of listening to their screams.
