Chapter 262: Chapter 262
"Also, I would like for Sadie to join," Amelia said, looking further down the table at the demoness.
Sadie’s ability to kill someone with her touch would be useful in the future. Amelia disregarded the fact that Sadie had tried to kill her when she attempted to shake hands and the fact she wanted to steal Killian away because he was able to fall in love. Once she could convince Sadie not to touch her, the demoness would be the perfect defense.
"No one else asked me to join them so I will accept," Sadie answered. She was curious why Amelia wanted her to join her instead of anyone else present. It gave her the opportunity to learn more about the queen of the north and how she had gotten Killain to fall in love.
"If this is going to be a get-together for all the women, then I will join Amelia," Lilith raised her hand. She didn’t want to miss out on seeing Amelia enter the Blackwell castle again and have the men shaking in fear once they realised they had married Amelia off to a man more powerful than they realise. Lilith wanted to be there to throw out good ideas for how Amelia should torture them.
"We are meant to be back in the underworld by then, Lilith. You know when we stay away for too long as those dammed souls get restless and I have to deal with capturing them before they are all eaten," said Lucifer.
"You are the God of the underworld. I am just your wife so I am free to stay out a little longer. It has been so long since I ventured out into the human world. I want to see more of what it has become-"
"I have mirrors you can use to explore the human world in the comfort of the underworld. Speaking of which, one of those mirrors has gone missing," Lucifer looked at Killian. They were expensive instruments he could not easily replace. He needed Killian to find the culprit.
"Oh! Lucifer, you look quite charming in that shirt. I can see why Lilith fell in love with you. You are a... handsome man," Amelia finished. She heard Killian snicker beside her so she pressed her shoe down onto his. She was only trying to distract Lucifer from knowing Killian had the mirror.
There was an awkward silence as Lucifer stared at Amelia.
"I am, aren’t I?" Lucifer agreed with Amelia. "Red does compliment me well. As handsome as I might be, don’t get so attached. I have a wife, but I would open my doors to you and Killian. See that Lilith? Amelia thinks it makes me look charming. And you say that I use red too much."
Lilith poured herself a glass of wine, drowning out the compliments Lucfier was now giving himself. Amelia had found the trick that she used on Lucifer when she wanted to distract him. To hide the fact that she was playing ball with Cerberus made some of the ruins in the underworld more ruined and that she was the one who stole the eye from the fates.
Amelia sighed in relief that Lucifer had moved on from talking about the mirror. ’Wait a minute. Why am I getting so worked up when Killian is sitting beside me without care? This is his problem,’ Amelia remembered.
She glanced to her side at Killian, who was watching her. The little smile on his lips came from his happiness that she had moved quickly to distract Lucifer for him.
"I have not gotten the chance to speak with Amelia as much as I would like, and I am sure she would love to get to know the other women at the table. I suggest we meet-"
"No," Killian said, declining Lilith’s offer in place of Amelia. He had gotten Amelia to somehow say yes to having sex outside the castle, and if he missed this chance now, Killian had a feeling it would not come again. "You can plan it for tomorrow night."
"Lucifer told me that you and Amelia are leaving for the Blackwell castle tomorrow. I won’t have time to meet with her then. Why can’t I meet with her tonight? Is there something the king and queen must attend?" Lilith smiled, wanting Killian to blurt out that Amelia could not do it tonight since he wanted his wife to himself. She liked seeing this side of Killian.
"Not attend, but there is work I must do. I still have to prove myself as the queen of the north. I spent the day learning about the different demons and your history. I am intrigued by your relationships with the other Gods," Amelia said, looking at Lucifer, who immediately frowned.
"Don’t be. I hate those fucking bastards. They do something that kills a lot of humans, and somehow I get blamed for it. There are only a few that I can be around without wanting to kill. Listen here," Lucifer said, leaning forward to give Amelia a lesson. "Don’t listen to what anyone says. Your kind has always been nothing more than entertainment for us. Toying with your mortal lives to amuse ourselves during our immortality."
"I am one of the few who wants to admit it. That is why I don’t care how many of you will die when I open the gates of the underworld. That’s why those fools who lost interest in your kind don’t care to stop me," Lucifer added. He believed Amelia would be the last of these so-called golden children since the other Gods didn’t care about the mortal world anymore.
"I see," Amelia replied, not knowing what to make of what Lucifer said. She now thought of the last time she had prayed in a temple. She could only think of when she wanted Annabelle’s child to be a girl.
The Gods seemed to have something against her since they would never answer her prayers, most likely because the majority had to do with someone getting hurt, and then they made her this golden child.
"Don’t overthink that. Just eat," Killian said, beginning to pull food closer to Amelia. "What do you want?"
"I can get it myself. Or not," Amelia added when Killian gave her a look. Now that they were talking about food, Amelia noticed that only where she sat with Killian had normal food. The other side had things she assumed came from the underworld. "Just a small piece of the chicken. Hey! Why are you placing so much on my plate? How can one person eat this much?" Amelia questioned him, picking up a knife and fork to split the chicken he gave her in two.
"I await the days when the two of you will have a child. Though I worry for you, Amelia. It is quite painful," Lilith sighed.
"Isn’t it always painful?" Amelia mumbled, now starting to worry about what it meant to carry a child that had demon blood. She had never thought to discuss this with anyone. "It is normal, right?" She asked Killian.
"Keeping them fed is the problem. Sometimes they would start to suck the life out of their mothers when not fed right, but it will be fine for you. Have some lamb," Killian said, ignoring Amelia’s mouth, which fell open.
