The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 237
Chapter 237: Chapter 237
’And she says she doesn’t get tired easily,’ Killian thought as he ran his fingers through Amelia’s hair.
She was in deep sleep, clinging to his torso as she dreamt of something happy because she kept smiling. Killian liked to think he was the reason there was a smile in her sleep. Once again, Amelia had fallen asleep without his help and she showed no signs of waking up anytime soon.
Killian did not share the need to get some rest which was why he stayed awake to watch over her and enjoy tangling his fingers in her hair. Her head laid flat against his chest and like always, one of her legs was placed over his, almost trapping him to the bed.
Killian continued to toy with her hair, twirling a few strands around his finger and letting it fall. It was a sight to witness how strange he had become for finding joy in playing with her hair.
Killian looked away from Amelia to the balcony where he heard wings flapping. Of course, there would be someone to arrive and ruin the moment he was enjoying. Killian was faced with the hard task of moving Amelia who would always wake up the moment he left the bed.
Leaving the bed without waking Amelia was always a harder task than going out to fight. Killian carefully picked up her hand and slowly placed it on the other side of the bed where he intended to roll her off of him. He panicked when Amelia groaned and feared she would wake up, but to his luck, Amelia rolled on her own in the other direction.
Instead of sitting up and making a noise, Killian disappeared from the bed and appeared inches away from it where he picked up his pants and began to put them on before meeting with the person who should have a good reason for interrupting his time with his wife.
"Elijah, didn’t I order you to stay in the Blackwell castle and listen to what they are doing? Why are you here?" Killian asked, closing the balcony door behind him to not wake Amelia with his conversation. This was the first time Elijah personally came to the North since he was left to remain in the shadows and watch the Blackwells. "What happened?"
"Fraser was poisoned today," Elijah said.
"Was he now?" Killian replied, surprised by the news. "Dead?"
"No."
"What a letdown. It would have been good news if he had died but I suppose I shouldn’t let anyone steal away my chance to kill him. Is that all you’ve come to say?" Killian asked. There had to be more for Elijah to fly all the way here.
"Rumors about your wife killing her father are continuing to spread and some believe the North had something to do with Fraser being poisoned. Cedric has started to point fingers at Margaret. Claiming she and your wife are involved in this. Margaret has left the castle for now after claiming her innocence. It was Cedric’s plot to get her out of the castle," Elijah said. He overheard the conversation between Cedric and Beth right after Fraser was poisoned.
"Of course it is. They are all ready to kill each other to take the throne for themselves. The North won’t need to go to war with them. The Blackwells will kill each other before I could do it. Return to keep an eye on what they are doing. Have someone keep watch on Margaret, but be careful. She knows what we are and has the tools to kill us. Tell the men that I will soon be coming down from the mountain," Killian said.
It was nearing the time when Lucifer wanted the existence of demons to be known by all humans. They would bring hell up to this world. Amelia’s coronation acted not only as her being crowned Queen in front of the people, but demons had gathered here to discuss their plans on how they would take over lands ruled by humans near where they resided. It was most likely what Lucifer was doing now.
"Yes, my King," Elijah bowed his head and flapped his wings to start heading back down to the Blackwell castle.
It was good news that Killian would soon be leaving the mountain once again. It meant they would get to kill humans and feast on a few souls. Nothing was better than hearing the screams of those who would die. Everyone was patiently waiting for this moment. They had worried that Killian was shifting away from his plans and marrying Amelia would change things.
Killian watched Elijah flying back down the mountain to continue to spy on the Blackwells. The corners of his mouth curled as he sensed something. He had a feeling he was in trouble. Killian turned around and was met by the sight of Amelia standing behind him with a blanket wrapped around her body.
It was hard to get her to sleep, but it was quite easy to wake her despite the fact he made as little movement as possible. Killian opened the balcony door and asked, "Are you sure you are not a demon right now? Your awareness is better than most demons I know."
"The bed suddenly didn’t feel warm so I woke up and you were nowhere in sight. I panicked for a moment until I saw shadows moving around on the floor by the balcony. Who was outside?" Amelia asked as she walked to the door just in time to see someone fly away. "Is something wrong?"
"Here, no. In the Blackwell castle, yes. Your cousin was poisoned. Unfortunately, he did not die. That would have been a good coronation present for you. Wouldn’t it?" Killian said, entering the room and closing the door behind him to stop the cold air from coming in.
"Poisoned? Someone is already out to kill him. Can’t say I am surprised. Do you know who did it? Has someone been caught?" Amelia asked. She was more concerned about the people of the Blackwell kingdom than she was about Fraser’s health.
The Blackwell kingdom was facing one problem after the next. The people had not yet moved on from the north taking over the castle, their sons dying, and now the future King was poisoned on his first day.
"You and your grandmother are being painted as the ones involved in this. It is being fueled by the rumors that you helped me kill your father. Margaret is no longer in the castle."
"What?" Amelia frowned as she didn’t see why she was being attached to this let alone her grandmother. "I am here in the north. When would I have time to plot to poison Fraser? I can’t deal with this right now," she touched her forehead.
Amelia was already tasked with trying to prove herself to the demons here. She had no time to spare to clear her innocence in the Blackwell castle. How was she to clear her name when she was in the North? Still, she couldn’t let her grandmother be chased out of a castle she rightfully belonged in.
"It is Cedric’s doing and your aunt Beth is going along with it. What do you say to taking a trip down to the Blackwell castle in a few days? There is something you won’t want to miss," Killian said, taking hold of Amelia’s hands and raising it to kiss the back of it. "Before that, we are going to have some fun. Get dressed. We have someplace to be right now."
