The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 216
Chapter 216: Chapter 216
Gina didn’t like the sound of this. "What the hell does he want from me? I am not the one married to his enemy. Did he mistake me for Amelia?" Gina asked, looking around the group hoping one of them would say this was a case of mistaken identity. Agramon had to be blind.
"You are close to the Queen. That is why he wants to speak with you. He made it known to rile us up and to see you panic. Agramon likes to play with the fears of the people around him. Demon or human, it does not matter. Calm yourself when he is near and get away quickly," Alastor advised her. Honestly, he expected her to have died by now.
"Calm myself? I get scared easily and I fall when I run sometimes. Even when the floor is flat," Gina started to panic even more.
Edith put away her sword now that Agramon was gone. "It is true. I have seen her suddenly slip and fall."
"See," Gina pointed at Edith.
Alastor rolled his eyes. That was hardly his problem. Amelia should have left her maid who was of no use behind in the Blackwell castle. Gina was a walking snack for many of the demons here. She was annoying but she would be a good snack for him to eat. "Start learning to not fall," he replied.
"Of course, he would not be helpful," Gina muttered, glaring at Alastor as he left. It was surprising he came to send Agramon away.
"Hey," Edith tapped Gina’s hand. "Instead of Cyrus, you should sleep with him. When there’s anger between two people, sex is always better. Well, from my experience."
Alastor stopped walking after hearing Edith’s suggestion to Gina. So far, the Queen’s circle was nothing more than a mess. He continued to walk before Gina could be foolish enough to try to make a move on him. He had no interest in a human woman who was as annoying as the Queen’s maid.
Gina touched Edith’s forehead to see if the woman was sick. She had to be sick to make such a suggestion. "You might need to visit a doctor," she said.
"There are no doctors here," Edith pushed Gina’s hand away. "There are a lot of handsome men around you but you are not taking the chance to spend the night with them."
"Sleeping around might be natural for demons but I don’t want to sleep with a man I will have no relationship with the day after. You are free to go after Cyrus and Alastor if you wish," Gina replied. She still wanted to get married and quit living in the castle. It was on hold now because of Amelia and the fact she was surrounded by demon men.
"Fine, miss out then. I’m tired of the garden. I’m going back to my room until the Queen and King return. You can join me if you are scared Agramon will come back looking for you. You can join us too," Edith said to Cyrus. She didn’t know if it was because Amelia was not around or he was lost in thought about the woman Jahi but he was quieter than usual today.
Cyrus pushed himself off of the wall. He made up his mind to have another conversation with Jahi. "Gina, stay close to Edith. I will be back soon," he said before walking away.
"A powerful demon made it known he wants to speak with me and Cyrus takes it upon himself to leave me," Gina muttered in disbelief. Now was the time for Cyrus to stay close to her. It was better to have two people she trusted beside her instead of just one. Amelia’s two other guards were nowhere to be found after Amelia left with Killian.
"He’s not going to last long in this castle. Either the Queen will force him to leave or he will finally realize he can’t leave that woman alone. The Queen gave him clear orders to protect you while she is away but he chooses to leave you," Edith shook her head. Cyrus wasn’t taking protecting Gina or Amelia seriously.
"It is strange because Cyrus would never disobey Amelia’s orders or leave her sight in the past. Even though he is annoying me right now, there has to be a good reason why he wants to leave now when I could be in danger. Do you think it has something to do with Jahi working for Agramon?" Gina wondered.
Edith remained silent as Cyrus walked back to where they were.
"Come with me," Cyrus said and turned around back in the direction he was going.
’It worked,’ Edith thought. She didn’t expect she would be able to guilt Cyrus into taking them with him. It was better than sitting around in her room all day while waiting for Amelia to come back to the castle.
Gina quickly stood up to follow Edith and Cyrus. Wouldn’t it be a better idea to lock themselves in a room and stay there until Amelia returned? "Where are we going?" She asked, still following them since it would be dangerous for her to be without them.
"I will tell you soon. Keep quiet for now," Cyrus replied, looking around the castle walls where he sensed others watching them.
Gina and Edith followed Cyrus out of the castle walls. They did not go out the castle gates and instead followed a path Cyrus saw a group of maids sneaking out from time to time. They were still going to be followed but they would have brought more attention to themselves if they walked out of the gates.
Edith smiled, enjoying the fact she was being hunted. She lived for this kind of excitement and it was precisely why she wanted to be Amelia’s guard. "I have to find a good tree to hide behind so I can pee. The two of you can go ahead and I will catch up."
Cyrus knew what Edith planned on doing and wasn’t going to stop her. It was better if one of them took care of who was following them and kept Gina away from it.
Gina didn’t like the idea of Edith going off by herself to pee but when she turned to speak with Edith, she wasn’t there. "I guess she really needed to pee. We should be far away from the castle for you to tell me where we are going. Is your old house near the castle or are we going to see Jahi? I don’t like that if Edith had not said something you would have left me behind. I know you only care for Amelia but you could have waited until I got to Edith’s room safely."
Cyrus remained silent at first to think of the right answer. "That is not true. I do care for you as much as I care for Amelia. You showed me the same kindness she has and I always appreciated you never let the fact I was from the north scare you."
"I’m sorry to ruin the moment but I was really scared when I heard Amelia had a guard from the north. I must have been good at hiding my fear," Gina muttered.
Back then, she tried her best to avoid meeting Cyrus’s gaze. She heard a lot of bad things about the north and misjudged him. The more she was around him, the more she realized she was judgemental and afraid for no reason.
"Regardless, you brought me food and drinks many times when Amelia had not ordered you to. I do care for you, Gina. I am indebted to you for taking care of me not only because I am Amelia’s guard but as your friend. I apologize if I have not made that clear during the time we have known each other," Cyrus replied.
"You do have an odd way of showing it considering you planned to leave me with Edith. Did you hear that?" Gina asked, looking behind them in the direction she heard someone groaning in pain. "Should we go back to check on Edith? What if there is someone out here with us? It could be Agramon."
"It is not and she is fine. She will catch up with us soon. We are going to see Jahi. I didn’t get the chance to speak with her about what Agramon wanted her to do. I was more concerned with getting her out of the castle before Killian had her imprisoned or thrown back into the underworld. I can’t fight the feeling she knows something about what Agramon wants and if she is not at home, I am right," Cyrus said.
If Jahi was not at the home he found for her, it meant she might be with Agramon still chasing after this ridiculous revenge against Amelia for what her father did. Cyrus had a thought that it wasn’t about the slaves anymore. Jahi greatly disliked the rumors he have had a relationship with Amelia so she wanted Amelia dead.
