The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 187
Chapter 187: Chapter 187
Amelia, Killian, Margaret, Fraser, Alastor, and several of the Blackwell kingdom court men left the other guests and entered a small tent for the truce to be signed.
"The north seems to be lacking a court," Fraser said, finding it laughable how there were only three representatives for the north. Amelia, Killian, and the man he thought was a mere guard. It was a joke.
"Too many mouths in the court means constant clashing and nothing gets done. I prefer to deal with the court with Alastor and now with your cousin. We’re about to see why too many people on your side is a bother," Killian said, scanning the six people representing the Blackwells.
"I disagree. Our side is in agreement with the truce the four of us started but there is one thing we want to change. The north must aid us if there is a conflict with another kingdom. It is only fair that you come-"
"No," Killian interrupted Fraser before a whole lot of bullshit could be said. "The north will not join your wars."
"You would want the people from your queen’s side to be killed?" Fraser replied. He and all the court ministers had already agreed they would not sign the truce unless the north planned to aid them in wars. "Amelia, I hope your mind has changed."
"It has not," Amelia replied, still agreeing that the north should not fight Fraser’s battles. Fraser would be reckless and pick fights because he had the north to back him. "The north will not join any battles you start. If war comes to your doorstep which was not started by you, I do believe the north should help."
"Amelia, you have been gone so you do not know the predicament your marriage to Killian left us in. The prince your father wanted you to marry felt like it was a slap in the face for us to suddenly marry you off to Killian. They are making demands because they feel disrespected. They are getting allies to go against us because it appears like we betrayed them and joined hands with the north," Fraser explained.
"Have you explained to them that the north took over the Blackwell castle and my union with Killian was the only way to save ourselves?" Amelia asked but she already knew the answer.
"Of course not," Lucas, the man in charge of creating strategies for war, replied. "We will become a laughing stock if other kingdoms learn our castle was so easily taken over by the north. We have already warned the people not to speak of it when they travel or we shall have their heads."
"So you are going to let it seem like you betrayed them to hide your failed attempt to keep the north out of our doors. I am almost curious to hear how you announced my father’s death. All of you in the court did not speak up to my cocky father about his foolish plans to attack Killian and our kingdom lost the battle. Tell the truth and meet them in the middle with their demands to avoid a feud," Amelia suggested as it was the only way to end this.
"I agree with my granddaughter. Hiding what happened will only blow up in our faces later when the truth is exposed. Too many families have lost a loved one from our battle with the north. Our people will not stay still if we go into another feud," Margaret interjected. She was against any feuds right now as the people who once loved the castle would come to hate them.
Fraser looked at Lucas who gave him a nod. Lucas was one of Cedric’s followers who would help Fraser get what he wanted. "Since Amelia became engaged to Killian without discussing it with the court, she should be the one to-"
"Are you kidding me?" Amelia asked out loud, infuriated by Fraser’s words. "I made the quick decision to marry Killian to save the castle. To save all of you who were trembling in his presence. You mean to tell me none of you are brave enough to face the other kingdom and explain what happened? As the new queen of the north, I would have to travel to speak on behalf of the Blackwell castle?"
Amelia couldn’t help but chuckle. "Right after I became queen, Fraser was trying to exclude me from speaking about the truce and now you want me to fix your issue? Now is when I get to speak up for the Blackwells. I am not explaining my marriage to Killian to anyone and we are not helping you with any war."
"Then we are not signing a truce," Fraser said, pushing the paper he needed to sign far away from him.
Margaret touched her head as a headache started to form. As of right now, they were the only ones benefiting from the truce. The north didn’t need it as they were strong and could survive any attack from their side. Fraser was in need of a truce to keep peace with the north.
Fraser on the other hand didn’t mind the looks he received from everyone but Lucas. Cedric had told him it didn’t matter if they signed the truce or not. Amelia loved the people just like her mother did to never let Killian go to war with their kingdom. Fraser thought they were giving Amelia too much credit for possibly being able to control Killian and stop wars but he was listening to his grandfather and Lucas.
Killian stood up from his seat, not caring to convince a fool to sign the truce. He had better ways to spend his wedding rather than speaking with a fool who would not live to see his next birthday. "We are leaving," he said, offering his hand to Amelia for her to stand with. "The point of the truce is for peace but you are using it to have an ally for wars you plan to start."
Amelia stood up with Killian followed shortly by Alastor who wanted to kill all the humans present and get this over with.
"This is the second time I have sat with you to create a truce you need. I am not in the mood to argue with you or meet your demands. Your lives are what you received in exchange for peace. The north will not sign a truce with your kind. If you poke around with my land or people, I will return to your kingdom and massacre all of you. You’ve lost the chance to have negotiations to avoid conflict. Get off our land in the next hour," Killian warned the Blackwell representatives.
Amelia didn’t like that there was no truce signed but it was evident they wouldn’t have created a proper truce tonight. Fraser was too foolish to realize peace was all his side needed.
Fraser stood from his seat. "Is that a threat?"
"It is a promise I will make you my captives if you do not leave," Killian replied.
Fraser clenched his fist as he did not anticipate Killian threatening them so soon. He looked at Amelia who seemed to have something on her mind but he did not want to hear it. "I will make sure the people know-Ah," he gulped when a hand reached out to grab his throat.
