The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 173
Chapter 173: Chapter 173
"Must you touch me so much?" Amelia asked, swatting away Killian’s hand for what felt like the tenth time. He kept reaching out to hold her hand or at times, poke her to rile her up. "Isn’t there something you must do today? To get away from bothering me?"
"No. The only time we have spent together since you arrived is when we prepare for dinner or go to bed. I have planned to spend the rest of the day with you. Until the night of course. I hear your people have the tradition of not letting the bride and groom see each other as it is bad luck. Do you know it is demons who had a hand in that bad luck?" Killian asked.
Weddings made for the perfect playground for demons to have fun. Whether it be revealing a secret child, an affair, or leading the bride to find the groom with her sister, it was always fun.
It wasn’t long before they blamed the wedding curse on the bride and groom seeing each other the night before the wedding. Amelia’s kind claimed the couple was secretly looking for a way to ruin the wedding if they met the night before.
"I am not surprised that demons would be involved. However, I plan to follow that tradition. Gina has a list of things to prepare me for the wedding and I rather you not be there. Some of it is quite embarrassing. Are there any traditions you wish for me to follow?" Amelia asked, not wanting to be one-sided with only him following her traditions.
"There is only one tradition that involves sex and fire. It is not something you can stomach no matter how brave you are. Marriage is not the same for my kind. We just spend our days with each other without a ceremony or rings. If you like someone, just stay with them until it doesn’t work out. I’ve watched your kind for years and see how marriage binds you forever," said Killian.
"It is the bad side of it," Amelia muttered as it wasn’t normal for married couples to separate so they needed to continue living together despite having no feelings there.
"Bad? I found it to be wonderful. Watching two people try not to kill each other every day and running around engaging in sin as they sleep with other sinners. It’s what keeps the underworld so full of damned souls," Killian explained, playing with her hair as he smiled.
"No matter how much I try I cannot get used to the things that make you smile. I’m afraid I will have to turn down whatever tradition it is that involves fire. I don’t want to be burnt. I have a question," Amelia shifted her body to face him. "Would you burn at all if you walked into a fire? Your hair at least."
"Do you wish to set me on fire? It shall burn my clothes leaving me stark naked. What a more interesting day this shall be. Shall I do it?" Killian asked, creating a small fire in the palm of his hand.
"How did that question honestly turn to this? Still, this is amazing," Amelia commented on the fire which did nothing to him. "My people should have feared the north more. It is almost ridiculous that demons have chosen to remain a secret rather than take over the world. You are incredible."
Killian enjoyed the compliment from Amelia’s mouth even if it was sort of directed at all demons. He would still take it for himself. "Our realm is the underworld. The devil doesn’t care to take over this world when it is full of enough sins. And there are other creatures stronger than your kind that would make taking over a hassle. Do you desire to rule the entire world?"
"No. That would be too much for me to bear. It is already hard enough to get your people to like me. The entire world would break me. Are you offering me the world after saying it is something you cannot do?" She probed.
"I didn’t say I cannot do it, princess. I said it is a hassle," he reminded her of the word he used less than a couple of seconds ago. "Since you do not want it, there is no need to worry about it. We already have our goals we shall soon accomplish. You will finally have the throne you wanted even if it is not in your kingdom."
"Your goal is to have children to carry on your lineage. It is quite simple for a man like yourself. Is there something else to this goal that I do not know of? You can want any other thing in this world but it is children you desire? You know they can be annoying at times, right?" Amelia joked.
"I do not want my kind to end with me. I am a one-of-a-kind demon and I must admit, I have envied seeing your kind create new life. Spreading their seed all around even if the generations to follow ended up doing nothing. I do not know when I will die but before that, I will continue my bloodline. I have picked a good woman with a personality to make my children be feared more."
"I can’t argue with that. I haven’t thought of children yet but I always knew I would have children who will do great things. As their mother, I shall lead them on the right path. You had a good eye, Killian. I mean for picking me. Whatever you wish for your children to achieve, my name will be remembered as their ancestor. It is time we leave this room," Amelia stood up.
"What if I want my children to be the ones to set this world on fire? You will be remembered as the mother of destroyers. Are you fine with that?" Killian questioned, curious about how she would respond to this.
Amelia smiled, not concerned by what was said. "That will never happen. My children will not go down a path of evil even though they will be part demons. Their mother will not allow it. You might be a powerful demon but there is nothing like a mother’s wrath which all children fear."
Amelia continued to say, "You like my kind too much to want to destroy this world. I have a feeling that is why you have not stepped down as king and let Agramon take over. You cannot fool me, king of the north."
Killian stood up to follow Amelia. "It seems that I cannot," he replied.
"I feel tired but the day is far from over. Out of all those who came, I only managed to find three people who will be helpful in the coming days. I expected it to be more but they came here trying to impress you, not me. Have you heard that Jahi has left the castle? Do you mind having someone watch her?" Amelia did not trust that Jahi would suddenly stop trying to meddle in the relationship she had with Cyrus and kill her.
Killian placed his hands behind his back as he walked to Amelia. "She had a spy on her from the moment she arrived. Just like your guard and maid do."
Amelia understood Jahi having a spy but not Cyrus and Gina who she trusted more than Killian. She knew them far longer than Killian for the trust she had in them to be so much more. "Do I have a spy?" She asked out of curiosity. She was still a Blackwell at the end of the day.
"You do. A handsome fellow I should say," Killian grinned.
Amelia rolled her eyes. "Why does everyone else get a stranger but I am stuck with you? Why are you spying on me of all people? Just like you did when I spoke with Agramon earlier? Are you suspicious that I intend to follow through with the plan to kill you?"
"No, I suppose spying on you was the wrong word. I am merely keeping an eye on you. I am sure once you have enough people on your side, you will have them watching me and the people around me like Alastor. I am keeping an eye on you so you cannot find yourself in trouble and hide it from me," Killian explained his actions. "I do trust you but we can never be too careful."
"I am not upset if you were to watch me because you were suspicious. You did overhear someone wanting to use me to kill you. I won’t lie that there is one thing I am suspicious of when it comes to you and I would have had someone find out about it but I will ask you. What was Agramon trying to expose about you coming to this world? Do not say it is nothing," Amelia said, desiring only the truth at this moment.
"He thinks I have done something wrong and this is the punishment the devil gave to me. It is hardly the truth. I came up here on my own accord," Killian lied.
