Chapter 168: Chapter 168
"I’m going to have Killian get us the spells from a witch so we no longer have to whisper when we want to talk. After the wedding, we should read up about witches, demons, and other creatures. I can’t keep waiting for my teacher who I think will never come. We follow what the temple has told us but we should see the truth of this world for ourselves," Amelia said.
Gina wanted to follow whatever Amelia wanted but she was scared of what they would find out. "I need to prepare myself for what we are going to find out. It shouldn’t get worse than demons, right? I wish you would share the same fear that I do," said Gina.
"It’s a little hard to fear demons just because they are demons when people like us can be monsters, Gina. Take my father for example and many of the people in the castle. No matter if we aren’t strong like demons, we can do evil things too. That is why I won’t fear demons. I will be afraid of their actions," Amelia said referring to the evil things they would do to get what they want.
"I am the opposite of you. I get scared easily. Now that trying on your dress has been pushed back, what do you want to do? We can check to see if people have shown up to be interviewed or stay here a little longer. I would like to follow the tradition of preparing you for your wedding. Your skin is meant to be smooth as silk," Gina said, running along her hand in a sensual way.
"I don’t want to lay around in water. Come, let’s roam around and find something to do," Amelia said, standing up to leave the room.
Gina leaned her head back slightly knowing they were going to find themselves in trouble.
"I can hear you internally groaning Gina. That only makes me want to get in trouble more. What is going on?" Amelia questioned, knitting her brows as she tried to unravel the sight before her.
When she opened the door, Amelia found Cyrus and her two guards pointing their weapons at Agramon who stood unaffected.
"Ah, there you are. I’ve been trying to have a chat with you but your people want to play around with pointy toys. I am not in the mood for that now. Tell them to lower their weapons before they find themselves without hands to hold them," Agramon said, the smile on his lips never once disappearing.
"What do you want? You are asking my guards not to guard me," Amelia said. She didn’t step out of the doorway since she didn’t trust Agramon. Now was not the time for her to pretend like she wasn’t afraid and walk to Agramon.
"Princess," Agramon chuckled, his upper body shaking as he did so. "If I wanted to kill you right now we would not be having such a lengthy conversation. First of all, this demon you tamed would be dead," he said, looking directly at Cyrus. He received a lot of information about the demon who protected the princess when her father allowed their kind to be enslaved.
"You didn’t answer my question. What do you want from me? It makes you a coward to come looking for me when Killian is not present and it is rude to bother a bride before her wedding. We’ll chat another day," Amelia stated, desperately wanting him gone.
"I am a demon child. I cannot help but be rude. It is in my blood to be. I am only here when Killian is not present because he will get in my way of knowing more about you. I should get to know the future queen without others interrupting us. Relax your shoulder," he commented on her tensed shoulder. "I have never ruined a wedding."
His words did nothing but gave Amelia the feeling he wanted to make this the first wedding he ruined.
"Show up at dinner more often and you will get to know me there. I won’t let Killian interrupt you if this is all genuine. I don’t think that is right now and I’m afraid I can’t talk at the moment. There is much to plan for tomorrow when I will become your queen. I will only ask again that you leave now before a fight starts," Amelia said for what would be the last time.
After this, she planned to call for Killian since he said he was only a whisper away. Amelia would rather Agramon give up so she didn’t need to bother Killian.
"It is not every day I go out of my way to meet with people like you. I will try another method. I shall have you desperately wanting to speak with me. Goodbye, princess. Enjoy your wedding," Agramon said before vanishing.
Amelia had a bad feeling about what Agramon just told her. ’He might attack something I care about for me to go to him or he might drop something about Killian I might be curious about. Whatever it is, I mustn’t fall into his trap,’ she thought.
At present, the only people he could attack were Gina or Cyrus unless he planned to attack the Blackwell kingdom. She needed to keep both of them safe by her side and inform Killian of this.
Amelia took a step forward to leave but found herself colliding into something rough. To her surprise, it was Killian. "Why are you-"
"Why didn’t you call for me?" He asked, not caring to hear about anything else. "I told you to call for me."
"You were watching this the entire time? Why didn’t you make your presence known? The situation didn’t get too out of hand and I didn’t want to bother you. He left in the end so there isn’t anything you have to get angry about. I hope that you are not angry," Amelia said as she wasn’t in the mood to argue with him of all people.
"I am not angry with you. You are always so quick to snap at me," Killian said, picking up a strand of her hair that captured his attention. "Leave us," he ordered everyone else.
"I am sorry," Amelia apologized for how her words came out. She only wanted to end an argument between the two of them before it could begin. "I didn’t want the peace between us to be disrupted because of Agramon. Why aren’t you angry? You should be."
"Angry isn’t what I am feeling now. You will not have to guess when I am angry. I am more on the side of hurt. You did not call for me to rescue you. You handled the situation well by not sending your guards away and walking off with Agramon. You also stopped the fight he wanted to happen. Next time, I want you to call me. Agramon won’t leave so easily next time," said Killian.
"I will keep that in mind. Why are you here now? It’s become a habit that I do not see you until it is time to prepare dinner. Did something go wrong already?" Amelia asked, finding his presence to be suspicious.
"I was informed of the large number of people wanting to meet with you to prove themselves worthy of being by your side. You certainly got them riled up. Come," he held out his hand for Amelia. "I will inspect them with you."
Amelia placed her hand in Killian’s without any complaints. She valued his opinion when it comes to picking out people she would make loyal to her in the future. "Thank you for joining me," she said, turning away to hide her heated cheeks.
