The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 160
Chapter 160: Chapter 160
Before they reached the dining hall for dinner, Amelia felt Killian’s arm she was holding onto tense up.
"We have a guest," Killian informed her right before they turned to enter the room.
Amelia was curious about who was the first person making the first move to meet her. When they entered the room, she was confused by a man sitting at the end of the table opposite where Killian would sit. It wasn’t where he sat but his appearance that shocked her.
When their eyes met, the stranger smiled at her like he was happy to see her. His cheerful expression reminded her of a puppy. Like many others, he didn’t hide his short white hair and striking red eyes.
She would be relieved to see him if she were not surrounded by demons and Killian didn’t look the slightest bit happy with the stranger’s presence. Amelia always knew never to judge a book by its cover and she did this when it came to people. Now she was in the north, Amelia wasn’t taking what she saw as the truth.
"What is with this ridiculous disguise you have, Agramon?" Killian asked, not the slightest bit amused by the appearance Agramon was using to deceive Amelia.
Agramon appeared like someone who did not belong in the castle with his lean body and annoyingly happy expression.
"I don’t want to scare off your little bride," Agramon chuckled, leaning back in his chair.
Amelia felt a chill run through her body from how quickly the happy expression vanished. He stared at her now as if he was looking down on her. Not impressed with what he was seeing. "I am not scared. Show me what you really look like," she spoke up.
"Oh," Agramon’s lips curled. "She is brave. She’ll need to be. It’s rude for the king and future queen to remain standing while everyone else is seated. Isn’t that right?" He turned to Alastor.
Alastor continued to sip on the wine he picked out for himself. He didn’t care to answer Agramon’s questions.
"Rude bastard," Agramon chuckled. He had a love-hate relationship when it came to Alastor. Alastor annoyed him by not showing respect when it was needed but he liked how sensible Alastor was and wanted him to join his people. Get rid of the master and he could get the dog.
’He likes playing games,’ Amelia thought. Agramon wasn’t exactly what she was expecting. She had a scary image of him inside her head and though Killian mentioned a disguise, she wasn’t worried about his true appearance. It was his personality she was more afraid of.
Killian led Amelia to the chair she previously sat in, pulling it out for her and then pushing it in when she sat down.
Agramon wasn’t pleased by what he was seeing. He hated Killian’s very existence but Killian wasn’t an ordinary demon who should be serving a human like this let alone marrying her. ’He lost his mind,’ he concluded. Killian’s time out of the north changed him, presenting an opportunity for Agramon to take over as king.
"There are plenty of servants to help the princess take a seat. And why is the princess so helpless that she cannot pull her own chair?" Agramon asked.
"It is a kind gesture," said Amelia.
"Kind? From a demon? Poor girl, did you fall for him forgetting what he is? He speaks of my disguise but he is wearing one. Never forget that he is a demon first. There is nothing kind about us," Agramon replied.
Amelia looked down at the end of the table and said, "It was kind of you to say the king and your future queen should not remain standing while everyone else is seated."
Agramon smirked, slightly impressed by her but it did not mean he could tolerate her presence. "It seems like I am making myself look like a hypocrite."
"You are but I forget about it to save you the embarrassment," Amelia forced a smile.
Killian sat down beside her, entertained by Amelia keeping herself calm and collected before Agramon. This was only the beginning of her learning how to face the true dangers that hid behind Argamon’s smile. She needed to be confident from the very beginning and never falter or Agramon would feast on her fears.
Agramon shifted his gaze from Amelia to Killian. "Is it her boldness you have taken interest in? That is nothing special. Her kind is normally mouthy which makes it all the more exciting to fill them with fear before killing them. Tell me, princess," he said, picking at the claws he placed in view for her to see. "What are your fears?"
"Fears? I don’t have any-"
"Lies! Even the devil himself has fears so why wouldn’t you? You cannot lie in this place. Hasn’t he told you? Lying to a demon is pointless. We are the masters of it you see. So, will you be honest now? What are your fears?" Agramon asked again.
"Agramon, enough of your games. If you are not here to eat, I suggest you leave" said Killian. After a pleasant time in their bedroom, he wasn’t fond of Agramon upsetting the mood. "Wasn’t the devil looking for you?"
"Was he? I wonder why."
"I’ll take a guess and say it has something to do with him being annoyed with your complaints about my future wife. Even he is tired of hearing your whine. It would be a wonderful wedding gift if he would chain you up in the underworld. It would not be the first time," Killian taunted Agramon with a piece of his past. "Your cries to be released could be heard at the corners of the underworld. How bold of you to be showing your face after."
"Cries? Now that is an exaggeration, Killian. I am not the only one who has been chained up. Have you told your little bride why you came up to this world in the first place? Hmm? You haven’t," Agramon noted because he caught Amelia’s expression change. "Let me see if she will not have a fear after this story."
