The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 137
Chapter 137: Chapter 137
"It is my fault for not telling you about this before we departed but I feared your reaction. You can be angered with me for not telling you and putting your life in danger. This is part of the reason why I did not want you to follow me to the north but you were so determined-"
"Had you mentioned demons I would have certainly not wanted to follow you to the north. This is too much for me to handle. What else is there that I should be aware of? Fairies from the stories we heard in our youth? Am I going to be punished for being around demons and being surrounded by fire? I’ve been good all my life. Partially," Gina corrected herself as a few bad deeds crossed her mind.
Gina paced back and forth as the realization of demons existing continued to weigh down her shoulders. She had been bold with Cyrus many times without knowing that he could probably drag him down to the underworld. She had been talking about the northerners under her breath and now their looks were explained. They could have heard every word she said.
"You shouldn’t tug on your pretty hair," Amelia said.
"Do not try to compliment me when I am losing my mind. Look how quickly I changed to being the crazy one. How can you be so calm with all of this, Amelia? No, first explain when you learned of this secret. Did Cyrus tell you before Killian?" Gina asked as she wanted to know how long Amelia and Cyrus had left her out of the loop once again.
"Killian was the one to tell me right after I accepted his proposal. He told me that I can’t tell the secret to just anyone. That is why Cyrus could not have told us about it. Now that you are here, you can know about it. I am truly sorry for wrapping you up in this-"
"You shouldn’t be," Cyrus interrupted Amelia. "Had you used this as a reason for her not to come to the north, the king would have found out about it and dragged her to the north or silenced her forever."
"Wouldn’t it have been alright if I left her with my grandmother-"
"Lady Margaret also knows?!" Gina screeched. How could Margaret know about this and send Amelia to marry a demon? Why was she the only one freaking out about all of this? "How did she find out about this? Why wasn’t the castle informed that we were up against freaking demons? We should have been more prepared. I need a moment to myself," Gina stormed to the bedroom door to leave.
"Wait, you cannot wander the halls by yourself yet. We need to find out where your room is first. I will have Killian assign a guard to you. It won’t always be like this Gina. We will fit in well here. If you want to leave, I will try to find a way out for you," said Amelia.
"I’d rather you stopped me from coming to the north knowing that it would freak me the hell out to learn this," Gina argued.
"In my defense, I didn’t want you to come with me to the north in the first place. I wanted you to stay behind with my grandmother or have you watch over the lands that I owned. I wanted everything but for you to pack your life up and come with me here but you were determined. I messed up by not telling you sooner but you forced a way for you to come here," Amelia retorted as this wasn’t all her fault.
"Yet again this would have been resolved had you told me about demons. Both of you," Gina looked at Cyrus as he had also not told her about it.
Amelia rubbed her temple as this was not going the way she expected it to. "Neither Cyrus nor I could have told you without Killian’s permission. I would I told you right away if I could and I meant to tell you before we departed but there were other things to deal with. I am sorry," Amelia genuinely apologized. There was nothing they could do now but move on. "I will ask Killian to safely send you back and make sure no harm comes to you."
"I have no intention of leaving without you, Amelia. You are determined to be the queen of the north so I will stay by your side. No matter how terrified I am because that is what friends do. I just need a minute to wrap my mind around all of this so I can prepare myself for any weird surprises. I suppose it will be exciting for me to fall in love with a demon," Gina said, trying to find a positive in the situation.
Amelia chuckled while Cyrus shook his head.
"Leave it to you to try finding a husband in a moment like this. To make this up to you, I will help you find mister right. Cyrus, you can return to your room now. Jahi must want you right about now," said Amelia.
"Let’s get away from speaking about demons and whatever. I have not gotten a chance to get to know this mystery woman Cyrus suddenly has by his side. When can all four of us get together to have a chat? I want to see the type of person she is. Plus, she might want to have a girl’s day after everything she suggested. Is there something you need to do now, Amelia?" Gina asked since she needed something to take her mind off of demons.
Amelia tried to think of anything she would have to do today but after her introduction and tour, there was nothing left to do at the moment. "I am free right now. I could enjoy us hanging out before life becomes more stressful than it already is. Cyrus, have you ever heard the name Agramon?"
"There isn’t a single person in the north who has not heard that name. He is not a man you should ever be around without the king. Have you met him already?" Cyrus asked out of concern. Agramon was a powerful demon who greatly disliked humans and was vocal about his plans to enslave them.
Amelia shook her head. "I have not but I came across one of his people. That man wants me dead. Is there no way to change his mind about me?" She asked as she wanted to try first, if not she would have to ignore him as she could not spend her life trying to make someone like her. Her actions as queen will prove their judgment wrong.
"You do not have the lifespan to change his mind. The best bet is to avoid him and let the king take care of him."
"I see. Let’s do as Gina suggested and have a chat with Jahi. Thinking about the people here is scaring me. I truly need a break from this new life. We’ll need to go to your room Cyrus. Killian is not exactly a people person for me to invite another person to this room and I will respect that," said Amelia.
It was already kind enough of Killian to let her bring Gina and Cyrus inside the room. This room was a comfortable space for Killian to get away from all that annoyed him so she was going to be respectful and get everyone out quickly.
Cyrus walked to the door and opened it for the two women. With Killian not present at the moment and another guard not assigned to Amelia yet, it was best she stayed close to him. He kept his hand on his sword ready to attack anyone foolish enough to harm Amelia.
It was known that the castle guards were loyal to Killian but there were one or two guests who visited the castle that would be a treat to Amelia. Not to forget that there was a gateway into the underworld somewhere in the castle so there was no telling what could suddenly pop up before Amelia because her scent would soon be picked up at the gates.
"When will you be able to start playing your role as queen?" Gina asked, excited to see Amelia rule as she always dreamed.
"It is normal that I do not take part in their affairs until I have married Killian. Right now, there is nothing for me to do but learn the ways of the castle, its culture, and its rules. I’ll spend most of my days planning the wedding and receiving lessons to be the perfect queen of the north. I’m afraid I won’t sit on the throne for a little while," Amelia replied, a tab disappointed but she could wait it out.
"I’ll need to speak with someone about the events you may have to attend here to get to know the nobles here. I need to plan what dresses you will wear and more. I’m going to be much different from the person you once knew, Amelia. I’m going to become more capable to help you reach your goal," Gina promised.
