The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 127
Chapter 127: Chapter 127
Amelia ignored the fact Killian had not placed her down and looked around the new castle she would be calling home. There were strange statues of creatures she had never seen before and contrary to how cold the air was on the way up, the inside of the castle was extremely warm. There weren’t enough lanterns placed around to make the halls this hot so she imagined something else gave the castle this warmth.
"What do you think of your new home? Already thinking of how you want to decorate it to your liking?" Killian asked after the awfully long silence was boring him. He was anticipating a lot of questions but she was silent as she looked around.
Amelia shook her head. "It would be rude of me to walk into someone’s home and change it up," she replied.
"It is now your home. You can decorate our side as much as you like. You might find some of the decor here to be scary," he stated as they walked by a statue of a serpent. Killian wasn’t the one to place them in the castle and he couldn’t be bothered to remove them.
"It will only take a little while to get used to them. Hopefully, there are none in your bedroom. I do not want to wake up in the middle of the night and see a large serpent or whatever that is," Amelia pointed at a dog with three heads.
"My bedroom is as normal as it could be."
"Good," Amelia sighed in relief. "Can you please put me down now? Certainly, there is no one lurking for the moment you put me on the ground for you to attack. It is warm on the inside so the coat I am wearing is making me start to sweat."
"Do not leave my side," Killian placed her onto the floor.
"Oh yes. I am in a foreign land with demons and the smart thing to do would be to run away from your side. I am not a fool, Killian. I want to live, which is why I am going to accept us sharing the same room tonight even though we are not married. I just hope this does not get back to the Blackwell kingdom. There would be rumors for days of how you immediately bed me as soon as we reached the north," Amelia grimaced as she could hear them already.
"Your people are too nosy about what a couple who is going to wed does when they are alone. Just because I am taking you to a room does not mean anything would happen. I only joked about it to lighten the room. You’ll find that some of the people who talk about the things you do, do those very things too," said Killian.
Amelia was aware of that. "I know that there are a lot of hypocritical people back home. Their point of view is that as royals we should be doing the right thing unlike them. I’ve had the men in court judge me for looking at young men but I’ve heard the gossip of them with their mistresses. That is why I take many insults with a grain of salt but I do not want to be annoyed with ridiculous rumors in the middle of planning a wedding."
"No rumors will find their way to the Blackwell castle. The people here hardly travel out of the north. Feel free to do as you want since you won’t be judged. You are surrounded by demons who will criticize you for being prim and proper rather than sleeping with your future husband before marriage."
"So, I can act wild here? Good to know. Question," Amelia looked down at the floor she found to be extremely hot. ’"What is heating up the castle? Please don’t tell me we are really walking above the entrance to the underworld."
"We are. There is a gate deep inside the castle that radiates heat from the underworld all through the castle. I will give you a tour as soon as breakfast is over. This is our room," Killian stopped in front of a large door with what looked to be horns on the outside.
"Everything about this castle just screams demons," Amelia muttered. "Am I going to survive the north?"
Killian chuckled. She waited too late to worry about that. "You will. I will have you live many lifetimes by my side."
"I don’t know about lifetimes. Who wants to be alive forever? Let’s see," Amelia pushed open the door to see for herself what kind of weird design Killian’s room would have but to her surprise, it was just a simple room like the ones she would find back at home. "It is quite large for just one man. Even for the two of us now."
"I never knew having a big room would be a problem," Killian replied. Given how many items Amelia packed up for the north, a room like this one was needed.
Amelia walked past the gigantic bed that looked like two of the ones her father had combined. It was covered in black cloth which would be the first thing to go out of the room. She never enjoyed dark sheets on her bed because you could never see what was in them. What if a bug was laying in the sheets and she was wrapped up in it not knowing the danger so close by?
The first thing that interested Amelia was the opened doors leading out to the balcony. Stepping outside, she could see a large portion of what she had missed thanks to her eyes being closed on the flight up here. The Blackwell land was no longer in view.
Amelia gripped the balcony wall and leaned over the edge to look down the side of the castle. Her heart started to rush as soon as she saw the long drop to the ground. If she were to ever fall from here, it would be a long drop to the ground. "Beautiful view but the balcony is too dangerous for someone who can’t fly," she mumbled.
Amelia released the balcony and carefully took a step back to safety. She unintentionally walked back against Killian’s wide chest. She looked up to see that smile he always had when she was around. It annoyed her because she could tell he was being entertained by her like she was some sort of puppet.
"Enjoying yourself?" Killian asked.
"Yes. I am finding so many ways a fragile person like me can die. Between the sharp horns on your door and the long drop to the ground if I am ever pushed or accidentally fall over the balcony. It is wonderful," Amelia sarcastically replied. "Your bed is far larger than you are. Is it because your actual form is some big scary monster?"
"Have you been reading about demons somewhere?" Killian asked but he did not need to hear her answer because of the way she immediately looked down and her silence told him yes. "I am not bothered if your grandmother gave you information about us. There are books in the libraries here you can use to read more about us."
"Really?" Amelia’s eyes lit up. "And no one would stop me from reading all of them?"
"Only if they are trying to save you from the dust that would come from the books once you open them. Those books are rarely read by the people here. I’m sure the librarian would take a liking to you wanting to read those books. I must warn you to be quiet when you enter the library. Her appearance does not mirror her personality when she is in the library."
Killian remembered the one time Alastor entered the library and yelled for the woman who picked him up with ease to toss him out. Killian learned from Alastor’s mistake and was always quiet when he passed by the library.
"Noted. For now, I would like to take a warm bath and go to bed shortly. After some food of course," Amelia patted her stomach after it started to make its presence known. "What will I change into since my belongings are not here? Do you have women’s clothes in your room?"
"No. Was that a question meant to trick me to reveal if I have women here?" Killian replied, seeing right through her little tactic. "No one enters my room but Asura and Loki. Alastor will take a chance sometimes when he truly needs me. I do not like anyone in my bedroom."
"I should be honored to not only look around but to sleep here then. I feel the same way when it comes to my bedroom which is why I brought everything along. The wrong person inside your bedroom can ruin the peace and make it hard for you to sleep. I hope you won’t mind Gina coming to help me with my dresses in the morning and for dinner."
"As long as she does not touch everything, I won’t."
