The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 126
Chapter 126: Chapter 126
Killian sat with his legs crossed watching the young woman in front of him constantly shift in the carriage to get a look at the scenery they were passing by. "I’m getting the feeling you don’t travel much."
"Not unless it was for important matters concerning the castle. Or my father using me as bait of course. I’ve never traveled this close to the border. Everything seems so different here from the way the homes are built to the way they dress. It must be cold here because of how close they live to the north," said Amelia.
She was so excited to see outside that she completely ignored the annoyed wolf laying in the same seat as her.
Killian was surprised that Lokie was not angry enough to bite Amelia yet. He wondered what it was about Amelia that such a temperamental hellhound like Loki liked about her. Was it because the clever creature knew he could get away with murder by Amelia’s side?
"We’re finally crossing over," Amelia practically stood up to look outside. "How on earth were you able to get past the border? Did all of you fly over?"
"No. There were cracks in your patrols that allowed us to easily sneak by. Your men were not expecting an attack from the north so they were being careless. Not all demons can fly so I couldn’t leave my men behind. Imagine our surprise when we easily entered the great Blackwell kingdom," said Killiam.
"Do not rub it in. Hopefully, Fraser is scared of the north enough to make changes to the border. I hope Gina is fine in her carriage. I told you it wasn’t the best idea for you to sit her with Alastor. It would have been better to put her, Cyrus, and Jahi in one carriage. I wouldn’t want to ride alone with Alastor. That man hates my guts," Amelia muttered, remembering the way he looked at her.
"Alastor is normally like that with everyone. Once he gets to know you better, he will not be so cold toward you. It is rare for a demon to want to marry a human so he has his judgments."
Amelia became curious about one thing. "What human did another demon marry?"
"I recall she used to be an assassin or something. Lost her life during a fight and ended up in the underworld. She caught the eye of what you call the devil and the two of them fell in love. The queen of the underworld was once a human. She turned to be a demon all on her own. Not even her husband could explain it," Killian explained the story Amelia was bound to hear many times in the future.
There would be many people in the north expecting Amelia to change into a demon whether of her own free will or by Killian doing it.
"On her own? That sounds crazy. How do you change what you are and become something else? What if she did not want to become a demon? Would there have been a way to turn her back to normal?" Amelia asked as reassurance for own self. As of right now, she wanted to remain like this and not become a demon.
"Probably. There is a solution to a lot of the weird phenomena in the world. It just takes years to look for the answer sometimes. Once we get out of sight from the border, I will fly you up to the north. Remember to keep your mouth closed or you will be eating plenty of flying insects today," Killian gave her the warning now so that she could not blame him later for not giving her a heads up.
The entire north would be able to hear them if Ameli were to swallow a bug and start screaming.
"In that case," Amelia folded one leg over the other to show that she was staying. "I think the carriage suddenly looks quite comfortable. I don’t want to fly up to the north. Gina will be looking for me during all the stops."
"I have already told Alastor to inform her we’ll be going ahead of everyone. Problem solved. I do not need to sit through this long ride when I can fly-"
"Whatever happened to I cannot leave my men behind?" Amelia threw back his earlier words.
Killian grinned, finding her to be quick on her feet as always. "This is a completely different situation. We are going to be flying to the north and that is final. Unless you want Grimms who would love to drag a Blackwell to the underworld to attack this carriage?"
Amelia wasn’t falling for his scare tactic. "I don’t need to be afraid when you are here to protect me. Nice try with the attempt to scare me."
"This is not up for discussion. We are both flying up the hill," Killian said. He leaned forward to open the carriage door and let the cold air roam around.
"Killian!" Amelia screamed his name. She was not expecting to feel the cold air against her skin even though she was dressed for the cold weather. "Release me," she pounded his hand that grabbed her.
Amelia put up a fight against him until he jumped out of the moving carriage with her in his arms. She clung to him, afraid that she would fall. Once this was all over, Amelia planned to strangle him for this. What sane person would want to jump out of a moving carriage? She felt relieved when they did not fall to the ground and she heard his wings flapping.
’I am going to kill him,’ Amelia chanted over and over again inside of her head. She squeezed her eyes shut, her lips were folded to avoid eating bugs, and she did not for a second release the grip she had on his clothing.
Killian found it amusing how she quickly went from beating on him to holding onto him for dear life as if he would let her fall. He would apologize for this later but she might end up thanking him for cutting the long journey short. There were many dangers on the way up to the north which he preferred to skip now since it wasn’t known in the north he was marrying a human. A Blackwell royalty at that.
Killian teleported once while he flew into the air but once Amelia’s grip became slack and he noticed for a moment she had passed out, he refrained from doing it in case it could have a deadly consequence.
The flight to the castle took a couple of hours without any stops. Luckily, the air was not as cold as it normally would be and Killian had spread his body heat to keep Amelia warm.
"The castle is in view," Killian said so she could open her eyes and take in the view of the kingdom she would soon rule.
Amelia shyly opened one eye to take a peep at where they were now. All her fears went away when she laid eyes on the large castle sitting at the edge of the mountain. It was much bigger than the castle back home. "Is it," she opened her mouth to ask a question but then closed it as she was reminded of bugs.
They were almost to the castle where she would get to ask many questions. She rushed as her nerves increased now that she was truly in the north. Amelia would not admit it to Killian but she was happy to be here right away instead of the slow journey that would have given her time to overthink everything.
Killian flew lower as they reached the castle grounds and landed behind the castle gates.
Amelia felt bad that he had brought her here in his arms but it didn’t last long when she considered this was his fault. She wanted to stay in the carriage but he was determined to fly up to the north. She still felt the urge to strangle him for jumping out of the carriage but seeing the northerners looking at the two of them, she would be crazy to attack Killian now.
Killian continued to carry Amelia in his arms even though they were no longer flying. Her different scent would be strong enough to alert everyone that he had brought a human here. They knew not to try attacking her while she was in his arms but he would not take the chance to put her down just yet.
Without giving them an explanation right now, Killian started to walk to the wing of the castle that would belong to him and Amelia.
"Hey," she poked his strong jaw. "Shouldn’t you tell them who I am?"
"I will make an announcement for everyone when the sun rises. You and I will share the same room tonight. I cannot let you out of my sight until I have announced you to be their future queen. Why have you gone silent? Do you have wild thoughts about what would happen tonight? You can ravish me if you want. That does not hurt," he stated after she pinched him.
