The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 113
Chapter 113: Chapter 113
"Of course, he would be a part of the slave trade," Amelia muttered when she realized who was putting up a fight from Killian taking his slaves.
"You know him?"
"Not personally but I know of him. He’s Luke Fisher, a popular merchant in town. He’s able to find all sorts of goods around the kingdom or outside of it and bring them here to sell. My father used to acquire his services for finding good wine and jewelry. His entire wealth was built off of trading and selling things you would not find another person with. That’s why he’s putting up such a fight," Amelia informed Killian.
"I am messing with his business. One of the men we captured informed me that got their slaves from this man. I have a feeling he is the one in charge of the trade. If he did dealings with your father, he must have gotten my people from your father to sell," said Killian.
Amelia sighed, not surprised her father would hand off the people he captured after invading the north to one of his friends. "Let’s save ourselves some time and just bring in all of my father’s friends. They were all close to him because they benefited from the laws not applying to them."
Amelia felt Killian get off the horse behind her then he held out his arms to lift her down. However, Amelia slid off the horse on her own. "I’ve ridden many horses to know how to get down but thank you. There are too many people here," she said after looking out at the large crowd that had gathered.
It was too dangerous for the townspeople to be nearby when a fight could break out at any moment. If the fight were to reach where the crowd stood and everyone started to run around to get out of the way, a lot of people could get seriously hurt.
"Stay close," Killian ordered Amelia after he tried the horse to a pole for it to stay until they were finished.
By now, many had taken notice of their arrival and were watching every move they made. Some people wanted to see the interaction between the two to see if marriage was possible, some feared for Amelia’s life, and some cursed Killian. Others questioned how Amelia could look so calm next to a dangerous man.
A path was created as Amelia and Killian walked to the gates that had not yet opened for his men to go inside and take out the slaves. No one was brave enough to take the chance to attack Killian when it was just him and Amelia. They had not forgotten he had gained the name war demon over the years.
"Killian," Alastor greeted his king but paid no attention to Amelia. He still did not view her as his queen to be and he did not care about her title here. A human princess was not important to him.
Amelia took no offense to it and looked around at the men on opposite sides of the gates.
Killian on the other hand was not pleased by how Alastor disregarded the woman who would become queen and be the mother of his children. Regardless of how Alastor felt respect was meant to be given to Amelia.
Normally he wouldn’t give a damn about who was watching and use whatever force to make Alastor show Amelia respect but he was trying not to look violent before her. Not when he was trying to make her comfortable around him. It didn’t stop his hand from twitching at the thought of choking Alastor until he might change another color.
"Alastor," Killian practically growled at the man before him.
Not afraid of Killian like others were, Alastor stared back at his friend.
"There’s no time for you two to have a mental battle. I will make people like him respect me with my own. You do not need to force him to acknowledge," Amelia said to Killian. She already knew she had a lot of work to do to make his people like her or at least respect her enough to realize that she was Killian’s wife and not going anywhere.
Alastor was surprised the young woman did not take this moment to have Killian defend her name and presence. If she had whined and cried about being ignored, he would have disliked her even more.
"Still, it won’t be tolerated and the matter will be treated later. What has happened since the last update," Killian shifted the topic to the primary concern.
"That fool shot a warning arrow at us. He’s still not willing to give up the slaves. I told you we need to use force instead of bullshitting and trying to look good for people we do not give a damn about. Our people could be getting hurt while we are talking," Alastor informed Killian with anger in his voice.
Killian was a demon who enjoyed the sight of blood more than anyone Alastor knew. He didn’t see the point in Killian pretending to be someone else in front of the princess or refraining from killing anyone because she wanted peace. If everyone wanted peace they should have just freed the people taken from the north.
"I want to have a word with him," Amelia said.
She wanted to speak with Luke first and if she could not put some sense into his head, she would allow Killian to use force no matter who got hurt. If Luke was one of the people at the head of the slave trade, he deserved to be punished.
Alastor didn’t see what difference her talking would do and said, "He’s not going to-"
"We’ll do as she wants," Killian took Amelia’s hand and walked towards the gates where his men stood with their weapons.
Amelia saw Luke sitting up from a chair behind a bunch of men once he saw who had come to visit him.
"Oh ho ho. Has the princess come to visit me? How did you know you were just the person I wanted to see?" Luke grinned, showing off his yellow teeth. "You are the one behind all of my friend’s troubles these days. Why couldn’t you have minded your business? Your father did not mind the slave trade."
"But I do. It is wrong to sell or own another person, Luke. I will see to it you are not locked up if you free everyone in your hold and provide information about where the others are. Both the people from the north and this kingdom!" Amelia yelled as Luke was a good distance away from her.
Luke was not taking any risk in case one of Killian’s men would use an arrow to kill him. He sat behind many men who had to die to avoid him getting killed.
"No can do, princess. You have promised to give us back our money but I am afraid you do not have enough to reimburse me for the losses I will have if I give you what I own. There’s no reason for blood to be spilled on such a beautiful day. You have packing to do and a wedding to prepare for. Make these men leave and I will find you the most beautiful dress in all the lands. Deal?"
Amelia found Luke to be unbelievable for thinking she would let him off the hook in exchange for a wedding dress. She could be dying from thirst and Luke could be the only person with a glass of water but she would refuse it. That was how much she disliked him. "There will be no deals, Luke. The people you have must be set free. This is my last warning to you."
"Warning?" Luke chuckled and slapped the back of one of his men to laugh along with him. So far he had been able to stop the northerners from stepping foot on his land. He found it hard to understand how this kingdom had lost against the north. "Go back to the castle and play with dresses, princess. Take that wild brute back with you."
Amelia glanced at her side and saw that Killian had not reacted to the insult. This made her worry about what could come next. "So there’s no way to make you peacefully give up the people in your hold?" She asked.
"None," Luke shook his head.
’"Very well," Amelia sighed, wishing she did not have to come to this but Luke gave her no choice. She could not advocate for peace when there were lives at stake. "Killian, forget being peaceful. You can kill anyone who stands in your way from freeing the people on the inside. Keep Luke alive for a while to give you the name of everyone involved," Amelia said loud enough for Luke and everyone else watching to hear.
Killian ran his tongue under his teeth where small fangs were present. Now he could have some fun. Instead of having his men deal with this alone, he wanted to join in to capture the man who called him a brute.
