Chapter 189: Chapter 189: Damian Vs The Countesses – 1
Lenora sighed and looked at her husband.
“Darling… the family is summoning us…”
“Why do they always make it complicated? Why can’t they just come to Nightingale and reunite with Darling?” Amelia snorted in annoyance.
“They’re always dragging everything out with preparations and other bullshit…”
“Amelia, this is important. Husband reuniting with the family is a big deal. Every major force in the Upper Plane is about to learn about his existence. Now that I think about it, we have a lot of work to do, lots to prepare for Husband proclaiming his rise and rebirth to all realms of the Upper Plane,” Avaline said excitedly.
“Avaline is right… We do have to deal with the major forces of the Upper Plane… not everyone will be happy about his reemergence,” Lenora said, rubbing her chin.
“Like the dragons…” Amelia muttered, thinking deeply to herself.
“You guys should go do what’s necessary… Once you’ve prepared everything, I will meet the family. I can wait,” Damian said slowly, and the three wives and even the five countesses could feel a slight sadness emanating from their mate.
“It won’t be long, Darling,” Lenora said, placing her hand over his chest.
“It will take a few weeks to make everything ready, Darling. Until then, you handle everything in the Lower Plane,” Amelia said, hugging her husband before giving him a deep kiss on the lips.
“I will make sure every immortal, mortal, and god in the Upper Plane realizes the magnificence of your existence, Husband,” Avaline said, hugging Damian, earning herself a pat on the head.
“Just don’t go overboard, my dear wife,” Damian chuckled.
“There is no such thing as overboard when it comes to you, Husband,” Avaline replied as she received a kiss on her forehead.
Lenora looked at the five countesses who were standing and watching everything with a mix of jealousy and frustration on their faces.
“You guys are his wives just like us. Prepare yourselves to meet the Family… Our Darling’s memories are almost completely unsealed, but he still doesn’t remember the specifics of our family or its members. But you do… Nearly all we talk about, I’m sure you’ve realized which ‘Family’ we’re referring to, haven’t you?”
The five countesses nodded their heads.
“Hm…” Amelia said.
“So you know how big of a deal this is… I suggest you make sure you’re in your best form when you meet the Family. Well, you’re part of the Family now that Darling made you his mates.”
“We’ll be back before you know it,” Avaline, Lenora, and Amelia waved before their figures disappeared from the spot, leaving the five countesses and the Vampire King alone.
Damian sighed.
“Don’t get too worked up about what they said, alright?”
“…My lord, are you really part of that Family from the Upper Plane?” Lillian asked carefully.
“Yes… But don’t ask anything more. I still haven’t unlocked all my memories regarding the specifics of my family. Let’s talk about something else,” Damian suggested.
He clearly didn’t feel like talking about the family he loved but couldn’t remember.
“It’s been a while since I trained… I’m starting to think I’m becoming lazy. Anyone want to spar with me?”
“It would be an honor to train with someone as powerful as you, my lord,” all five noble vampires showed interest, especially Amaya and Lillian, who were clearly the strongest of the five.
It was because those two loved training, fighting, and growing stronger that they naturally rose to the status of the two strongest vampires in the world of Nightingale on their own.
The remaining three weren’t bad themselves.
Even though they didn’t show as much interest in training, they were still almost on the same level as Amaya Kuroyami.
“By the way… when we’re alone or in private, without the public or my court, you don’t have to be so polite when addressing me,” Damian said.
“But my lord… you are the King…” The five countesses felt like they’d be making a grave mistake just by imagining addressing their progenitor informally.
“It’s alright. You are my wives, even if we haven’t made it official. I’m the one who initiated the Rite of Union, making you my mates, my wives. I’ll take full responsibility and treat you no differently than my other wives,” Damian sternly said, leaving no room for disagreement.
“You can address me like a king when we’re in the presence of outsiders or outside of our family.”
“Then… how should we address you?” Amaya asked.
“Mmm, whatever you want, I guess,” Damian shrugged.
“My lord… if it’s okay with you, can I address you as Darling?” Kathryne Dracula asked boldly, making the remaining four raise an eyebrow and look at her with slightly shocked expressions.
“I mean, as long as you’re comfortable calling me that, I don’t mind at all,” Damian said, smiling.
He was actually really impressed with Kathryne.
Unlike the others, she wasn’t hiding her emotions in the least, even when his three goddess-wives were present.
She didn’t fear them, even though she knew they were his wives first or that they were goddesses of the Upper Plane who had the power to kill her.
“Anyway, let’s start the training, shall we?” Damian said.
“I’ll spar with each of you one-on-one. Who wants to go first?”
“My L—H-Husband…” Amaya, with a red blush on her face, spoke.
“Aren’t we too weak to spar with you? I don’t think you’d gain anything from fighting weaker opponents.”
“It doesn’t matter… I just want to expend some energy. Also, I think you overestimate me too much,” Damian continued with a sigh.
“To be honest, I don’t really know the extent of my power. I’ve never even used half of my strength before… Fighting against the five of you will give me perspective on my own power.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t go all out. I’ll gradually increase my power as we spar,” Damian said as his figure disappeared and reappeared in the center of the battlefield.
“I’ll go first!” Akira Kaminari said excitedly before lightning crackled around her figure and she flashed a few meters opposite her husband.
“H-Husband, I’m ready,” Akira said as she took a deep breath.
She wasn’t just fighting because her king asked, but also because she wanted to show him how powerful she was and prove herself to him.
She summoned a dark blue-metal katana with a black handle from the system inventory and held it in an offensive stance.
“A katana, huh?” Damian was intrigued as he also summoned a metal katana from his own system inventory.
He wasn’t going to use his spiritual weapons, as they had power-enhancing effects, it wouldn’t help in assessing his power.
Akira’s eyes sparked with lightning as it danced intensely around her, rapidly enhancing her speed and senses.
In an instant, her figure shot forward like lightning, leaving behind waves of destruction and a charred ground.
She appeared before her opponent, drawing her katana in a slicing motion, lightning rippling on it like a lightning rod.
Damian’s eyes also sparked with lightning.
He saw everything in slow motion, but Akira was still fast.
Just as she drew her katana, Damian’s figure began to release small sparks of lightning as his speed rapidly rose.
He didn’t defend against the attack.
Instead, he stepped aside and clashed his katana against hers, letting the force of her attack slide off, making the full force of her swing miss him.
Akira was surprised, but not because Damian dodged. She was shocked that he had used her own bloodline ability, [Lightning Generation], to increase his speed and perception, moving away from her attack.
He was nearly on the same level as her in using her own bloodline power.
“Surprised? When I became the Vampire Progenitor, all the bloodline abilities of the 12 noble vampire clans became mine as well,” Damian smiled.
“Let’s see who’s faster, Husband,” Akira said confidently, lightning around her intensifying and beginning to destroy the land around her as her presence and power rapidly rose.
Damian wasn’t just using her bloodline ability, he was actually using her like a teacher to learn how to wield it better.
In fact, thanks to his talent [Limitless Refinement], constitution [Undying Battle King’s Physique], and ability [Eyes of Heaven and Earth], Damian was rapidly growing more and more accustomed to using her bloodline.
The lightning around Damian also began to intensify, rapidly enhancing his speed and reflexes.
In fact, because of the influence of his [Infinity Essence], created using the merger of numerous energies, his lightning was far more effective than Akira’s.
At the same time, both of them shot forward, disappearing in an instant from the eyes of the four Countesses standing not far from them, watching the battle with curious expressions.
“A lightning-fast battle… I hate speedsters and the way they fight. It’s almost impossible to catch them,” Tiana muttered, sighing in annoyance.
“Hehe… Don’t worry. I’m pretty sure he won’t use lightning against you,” Amaya replied, chuckling at her reaction.
All of them, including her, had a very hard time following their movements.
“As fast as Akira is, the Kaminari clan’s lightning is one of the hardest bloodline abilities to master. It took Akira thousands of years to grow her lightning to this level, but our husband is using the same ability almost at the same level as her… He is monstrously talented,” Lillian said.
“I wonder if he can use the other bloodline abilities at such a level…”
“He probably can… I mean, he is our progenitor. Of course he can,” Amaya replied.
“But still, even if he is the progenitor, it shouldn’t be this easy for him to display such control over the bloodline abilities…” Lillian shook her head.
“Hmph. Who cares? Just be happy that you get to be the wife of such a powerful man,” Kathryne snorted in irritation. She felt like they weren’t appreciating their husband as they should.
Amaya and Lillian looked at each other, raising their eyebrows, before turning back to watch the ongoing battle.
In the barren training ground, two streaks of lightning were zapping around, clashing against each other.
Every time they crossed paths, their encounters released sparks of lightning spreading in every direction.
And the more the battle went on, the faster they became, and the stronger and more intense the lightning their clashes generated became.
