Chapter 274: Walk in
Chapter 274: Walk in
"Remo?! What in the world are you doing here? How did you know this was my door?!" She asked all at once, looking behind him to see if anyone else had come with him, he seemed to be the only person.
"Is that how you welcome a guest? Come on, won’t you let me in?" He whined playfully, raising his hand to her cheek and caressing lightly. She jerked her face away from his hold.
"I never invited you, and if that’s the case, then I don’t think I’m obliged to invite you into my home. Who on earth even does that?!" She asked, exasperation fuelling her tone.
"Does what?" He asked nonchalantly. He pushed his way past her, and into her home, heading straight for her kitchen and pulling the fridge open.
"What the hell is this?! I did not invite you to my home, Remo." She yelled out, shutting the door behind her and making her way toward the fridge where he now stood.
"But I invited myself in. Aren’t we friends after all? Do friends have to seek the permission of friends to be in their domain? I don’t think so." He responded with a smile, taking out a jar of milk and a glass. She walked up to him, snatched the jar from his grip and replaced it back in the fridge.
"I don’t remember you asking us to be friends at any point. Now that you know that, I suggest that just the way you brought yourself in, you find your way out." She commanded in a stern tone, her gaze equally fixed on him in a daring manner. He turned to face her, observing her defiant pose. A few seconds passed, and then he began to walk towards her. In spite of his predatory move, she remained unmoving in her spot, her eyes locked with his.
When they were only a few inches close, he brought his face close to hers, and then he spoke. "I consider myself a sadist and a psychopath, who would go out of his way to get whatever he wants—and when I say that, you should know I mean every word. In this case, it is you that I want. However, I respect my brother so much, that I decided to have mercy on his property."
"What the hell?! His property?! What are you—" While she was still speaking, he snatched her jaw between his thumb and index finger and brought her face close to his.
"If you were not his, Stella, I would’ve fucked you so hard, you wouldn’t have the strength to make it back to your apartment like you did moments ago." He whispered against her lips, his breath caressing her chin. Every utterance of his words had caused her insides to curl, hinting at the possibility of him being able to do just what he had spoken.
I guess the sexiness runs in the blood. She thought to herself, panic filling her every being. After what felt like hours, he freed her face with a laugh, making his way to her bed and settling himself in.
"You should see the look on your face right now, did I scare you that much?" He asked, chuckling teasingly as he brought his hands under his head to brace him in a comfortable position. Stella, on the other hand, remained standing where she was, observing him from a predator’s line of sight. However, she was powerless over his whims.
"What do you want?!" She asked heatedly, her rage pouring through her words.
"I want you to tell me what’s going on between you and my brother."
She turned her gaze away from his, considering his question for about a minute. At first, she did not see the need to tell him what was going on between them. But then, she remembered that she was dealing with his brother, and that fact alone, gave him every avenue to know the truth about the question he had just asked. However, there was no definite way to answer it, which was why she was not sure what to tell him.
"It’s complicated," she stated simply, her hand instinctively closing around her neck as she lightly caressed it, seeking a moment of solace from the mounting stress. Remo, wearing a smirk, rose to his feet and approached her.
"Judging by the looks of it, both of you seem to be having the worst days of your lives. But since I’ve crossed paths with you, I’m willing to do something to help," he offered.
Upon hearing his words, she lifted her gaze, a glimmer of hope finding a place within her. "You’re... willing to help?" she asked timidly.
"Yes, Stella," he replied, his palm once again coming to rest on her face. "If you ever need a distraction, I’m entirely at your disposal."
At the moment those words escaped his lips, her expression contorted to one of irritation. She swiftly slapped his wrist away and exclaimed, "Ew! Gross!" He burst into laughter and planted a playful kiss on her cheek.
In that precise moment, a soft knock resonated through the room, abruptly pulling both of them from their intimate bubble. Their gazes swiftly shifted towards the door, each apprehensive about what lay on the other side.
"Are you expecting anyone?" Remo whispered cautiously, his voice filled with an underlying tension.
"Never. I only have one friend, and she’s out of town," Stella replied, her own voice tinged with uncertainty.
Seconds later, the doorknob began to turn. Reacting instinctively, Remo drew a gun from his waistband, aiming it at the entrance. Stella’s eyes widened in shock as she observed the unfolding scene before her.
"Stand behind me," he whispered urgently, grasping her arms and guiding them to circle his waist. She complied, positioning herself behind him, her arms locked around his own torso in a tight grip. The door swung open, revealing Matteo, holding a box of chocolates and a sizable bouquet of flowers in a basket. His expression conveyed a potent blend of shock and anguish.
