The Sweetest Temptation
Chapter 271: Familiar

Chapter 271: Familiar

"What’s going through your mind, beauty?" He asked, taking one step forward, his eyes still fixed in an unyielding stare with hers.

"I said don’t move. Where the fuck are my things?"

"You seem to forget that you are in my space—" He began, but she interrupted, cutting in with a stern reply.

"And I would like nothing more than to leave this place. So, let’s not make this any harder than it is. Answer my questions, give me back my things, and I will be on my way."

"You’re such an amazon. Lucky for you, that is my kink."

"I don’t give a fuck what your kink is, answer my questions and get me my fucking things, otherwise I’ll have to do what’s on my mind."

Why the heck is he being so persistent?!

"You were much more obedient and compliant when you were intoxicated."

His words coursed through her veins like freezing water on an extremely cold day at the north pole. She shuddered and slouched her shoulders, wrapping her arms around herself, as if securing herself from any harm that might be coming her way.

The man noticed her reaction and shifted cautiously on his feet.

"I’m pulling your legs, relax. Nothing happened between us." He said nonchalantly, sighing deeply as he made his way to the closet where he retrieved her dress as well as her bag and phone. When he turned to face her, she was still clutching herself securely. He closed his eyes and chuckled lightly.

"I had one of my female servants put you in some new clothes. Rest easy, I did not see a thing." He mumbled, his expression morphing as though he was hurt. Among everything that he might’ve said since entering the room, those were the only words that she was inclined to believe. Maybe it was due to the genuine hurt in his expression from not being able to do anything to her.

However, it was strange that he would not go all the way with her when other men in his position would’ve done so without a second thought. In spite of knowing him from Beatrix, it was hard to tell what his true nature was. But from the way he portrayed himself so far—the gang leader sort of vibe—there was every tendency that he would have done what he wanted.

"Why did you have to do it?"

"You got some of your vomit on it." He replied sternly, folding his arms across his chest.

Ugh! So gross! Was that really what happened?! She thought to herself, glancing around her to see if there were any signs of stains.

"Don’t worry, I made sure you did not get any on my sheets." He added with a knowing smirk. She scoffed and turned away from him, seizing the items in his hands and securing them beside her. In swift movements, she began to go through her bag.

"All your stuff is secure." When he made the statement, she rose her gaze to meet his, soothing and at the same time, steely with seriousness.

Ugh! That is definitely how his face is.

However, in spite of his hard surface, he seemed to be a man of chivalry and respect.

What crazy thought! I’m meant to be trying to figure my way out of here. She thought to herself, shutting her eyes tight as she fought to remember the events of last night. A lot of things had happened, but what she did not know was how she ended up in the home of Remo of all people. Having made up her mind, she opened her eyes once again, only to meet his intense and unshifting stare.

"Um, do you mind?" She mumbled, pulling the duvet further over her form, in an attempt to shield herself from his eyes.

"Oh, my apologies, my lady. I’ll see myself out." He responded, turning smoothly and taking long strides towards the doorway. But in that moment, a thought crossed his mind and so, he turned to face her.

"Before I forget, I need to mention this," He rose his hand to his chin, grazing his stubble in a steady rhythm and staring into space. "Your face looks awfully familiar."

No, no, no, no, no... he can’t know who I am... if he does, I’m never gonna leave this place! She thought to herself in a panic, her gaze darting around frantically.

Aha!

"You never told me what your name was," she suddenly spoke up in a tone laced with exaggeration, her head dropped as if she was addressing one of authority, which, in one way or the other, was true. He was one of authority. This was his home. It was only proper to appeal to his merciful side.

"Remo. My name is Remo."

"Remo, in that case, thank you so much for being such a kind host. When I’m done dressing, I’d like to go back home."

"Oh, so quick?"

"Yes," she replied, raising her gaze to observe him while he spoke such atrocious things. "Is there anything else I should be expecting?"

"Well," he replied, his voice dripping with mischievousness. "Since you put me through all the trouble, I was thinking you’d make up for it."

For one that I wanted nothing to do with, he was unusually bold.

"I’m very sorry for all the trouble I might’ve caused, Mr. Remo. Right now, I have nothing to give. However, if you’re willing to wait, until I get paid, I’m sure I’d be able to have something substantial enough to clear the debt I owe you." When she had stated these words, there was a brief pause, and then he burst into an uncontrollable laugh that made her turn red with embarrassment.

"Don’t you think you’re taking it too far? What I require of you to pay off your debt is nothing that big, Ms..."

"Stella," she replied.

He doesn’t even know my name... what a shame! She thought to herself, irritation taking root in the pit of her stomach.
