The Sweetest Temptation
Chapter 220: Remember her

Chapter 220: Remember her

She peered around in search of the reception desk when her gaze fell on a familiar figure that was approaching her. It wasn’t until a few feet away that she realized who it was and instantly wished she’d be invisible.

It was Grace, one of the sassy girls in college who loved to tease people like her and make fun of them behind their back – sometimes, right in front of them.

She had been trying for years to garner Matteo’s attention, at the time that they were all in a closed environment, it was much easy to witness everything about people, down to their mannerisms.

She’d go to class in the flashiest attires just to get on Beatrix’s good side, completely missing the point and wasting her time on someone who never really cared about her in the first place.

Just thinking about the times where Beatrix had ignored all of her advances, Stella couldn’t help the smile that had formed on her face.

"Hey, Grace, what are you doing here?" Stella turned to her fully, asking the question in the most friendliest demeanor she could conjure from her mind.

"Well, same thing as you." Was she here for the interview? At impulse, Stella began to scan her outfit and the overall way that she looked.

Grace was on a black mini-skirt, draped with a cheap-looking waist chain that cinched her waist like a cartoon female character who looked out of place. Her top was a white, supposedly fitted long sleeve that cupped her breasts together in the strangest way, showing her that she hadn’t done a good job of packing up reasonably.

Irrespective, she looked like the person that Matteo would want to have as his girlfriend, if not for the rest of her life. She found herself questioning where her stand was and what it would take to get her to a place where the spotlight would shine on her and even illuminate better than her counterpart.

And then, her worst karma in college had to show up looking all beastly – as usual...

From the look of observation in her eyes, it was clear that she was staring Stella down, wanting to study her outfit and know if Matteo would be interested. While turning away from Stella, she spoke.

"That outfit sure looks good on you, where’d you get it?" Stella struggled hard not to gulp down the humor that was inside her. Beatrix would never disappoint, she probably saw this coming and decided to go all the way.

Now that she beheld this stupidity from a girl who seemed to have deep sated insecurities people never really knew about, Stella seemed less interested about a number of teens that are struggling – especially her.

All of a sudden, she pushed her aside because she was in the way of the entrance, at least that was the impression that could be caught because she was literally brewing her own jealousy alongside hers and making her way towards the main entrance door.

"Make sure you slay the interview." Grace said with such seductive poise, it was hard to ignore anything naysayers would have to say about her competing over her – if Matteo ended up with her. She glanced down at her phone.

"Oh shit, it’s been forty minutes already,"

The interview!

Stella bolted towards the elevator, pressing numerously, the top floor button and prayed that she’d still get the chance to take the interview.

When she reached the pathway to the topmost floor, she noticed a row of about two more people seated just beside a door where a lady in her early twenties was already heading out of the office, holding in her hand what looked like a tissue.

"What happened to her?" Stella questioned as she took her seat right next to the candidate who was next. And then, she looked out at the area where his door still swung softly from the earlier pressure of the silent lady.

I’m going to see Matteo after an awfully long time – and his entire body too.

"Would he even remember me? I do remember him, but does he?" Her mind was beginning to wander when she heard her name called out in a distinct speaker, "Stella Rossi," Her eyes darted around in search of the sounds and where they came from, "You’re next."

Her heart began to beat wildly as she got to her feet and inhaled deeply, "Well, here goes nothing." She whispered to herself and exhaled through her teeth as she made her way into Matteo’s office.

******

Matteo pulled his pack of cigarettes from his drawer, and with his teeth he drew out a stick of cigarette and lit it immediately, throwing the pack back in and slamming it shut.

The day was not going entirely as planned and he was beginning to contemplate calling it a day and probably leaving for a hangout somewhere outside of town.

A lot of the ladies that had been invited for the interview were – well, not complying with one basic rule which was keep things professional.

He would’ve just picked one femme fatale from the bunch and get ahead with his stuff, ram the bimbo if the need arose, or if she got too flirty. But that would mean getting another person because they’d begin to get emotional and need something more. And that in itself, was another hassle that he wasn’t ready to deal with.

He dragged the smoke languidly, relishing the subtle headiness it was making him feel, and then he went back to sorting the printed out files of the interview candidates.

While he was flipping through, his eyes fell on very peculiar and at the same time, slightly familiar blonde that bore very captivating blue eyes that took on a life of its own, ensnaring him in a promising imagination of lascivious entanglements.

He turned his gaze to the side of his desk where the files of the interviewees laid and realized that there were no other files left. She was the last on the list.

And then the door opened.

Slowly, he rose his head, to the astonishing gaze of Ms. Rossi, a name that made his heart ring with sudden familiarity – but he could not just pinpoint where.

His eyes locked on hers, acknowledging her timid gaze and the constant darting and relocking of her gaze with his, a gesture that he was certain was not common with the other ladies that had left his office earlier.

A/N: Okay so this is happening the one year after they had met Rhys with Beatrix searching for him and during this time that Beatrix met Damien. I don’t know if I’m making sense lol. Let me know if you’re confused with anything.
