Chapter 217: Check up on him
Chapter 217: Check up on him
Well, it won’t happen anymore. She thought to herself with renewed determination.
She made a silent vow to remain by her side, even if it’s for a short time, directly or indirectly, she would be her friend – not just by word of mouth – but as her confidante and support as well.
At that moment, Stella turned to face her again. Her eyes had been thoroughly soiled so, she began to wipe them with haste.
"Oh my gosh, something got into my eyes, I’ve been trying to get it out."
Stella smiled warmly, she knew what was happening and it made her heart surge with love for Beatrix even more.
"Come here, bestie," she said as she opened her arms to her, leaning forward, Beatrix closed the distance between them, weeping against her shoulders as she spoke. "I don’t know what you’ve gone through, Stella, but I’m going to make it all right for you again, I promise."
"Everything looks okay already. Just seeing you, not in the least bit changed from who I used to know – gladdens my heart more than you can ever think, Beatrix."
For several moments, they locked eyes, a silent conversation passing between them. The air around them was heavy with unspoken words and clear meanings. But just as quickly as it had come, the moment passed, and Beatrix looked away, letting out a small sniff.
She straightened up and smoothed her clothes as she prepared herself to step outside.
"Yo, time is going, Stella. I want to come and stay with you, so lemme just –"
"No," Stella’s voice came out with a panic as she opposed immediately.
"What, why?" Beatrix was bewildered, but she shielded her expression.
"I’ve seen you, Stella. And I want to come in. Won’t you let me in?" Her voice held a twinge of sadness that threatened to push Stella to her limit, her chest twisted with guilt at the sound of it.
"Don’t put it that way, Beatrix. You know very well what I’m trying to do, why you can’t come in,"
"No, Stella, I don’t know. Why don’t you tell me?" Beatrix was getting exasperated, and so was Stella.
"Please Beatrix; let’s not do this, c’mon. Alright, just take it this way; I’m not ready to host any visitors. How about that?"
Their eyes met, each locking onto the other with a fierce intensity that belied the lighthearted moment they were sharing. A small, involuntary laugh bubbled up from Beatrix, quickly followed by Stella, and soon both of them were convulsing with laughter, unable to contain themselves.
Their gazes locked with an intensity that threatened to force laughter from their depths – of which it succeeded. They burst out laughing hysterically.
"Okay, but just this once. The next time I’m around, I’ll come here myself, find your room, and make myself comfortable. Agreed?"
Stella was most certain it won’t happen again. She smiled and nodded, acknowledging the ’said’ promise. They stepped out of the car, and Beatrix opened the trunk.
"Here we go, since I’m not allowed to go inside with you, you’ll take everything, all by yourself too." Beatrix accused with a laugh as she arranged the bundles of huge dresses on Stella’s arms, and slid the shopping bags in her fore arms.
"You look astonishing in all those brands you have on you, love," She teased with a laugh.
"Not funny, Beatrix," Stella replied as she chuckled lightly.
"Alright, baby," Beatrix leaned in and placed a kiss on her cheek and then she walked over to the driver’s seat of her car and slid inside. With a final chuckle, she ignited the car and drove off.
Stella had deposited the goods on the ground at her door front and was running back outside to see Beatrix off, but when she reached outside, she was gone. She smiled to herself as she walked back inside.
I have her number.

"I won’t start the arrangement now, let me just set these here," Stella staggered into her room with the large mass in her arms, going in the direction towards her bed. She deposited the clothes atop.
"Woo, I really hope Beatrix didn’t outdo herself." She walked towards the kitchen, took a glass and poured herself some water, downing the content in one fell swoop of her hand. "Whew, alright, let’s get to work."
She walked over to her desk and pulled up her laptop. She swiped open her phone and saw that Beatrix had indeed sent the link. After several clicks and swipes, she managed to apply for the job.
"She mentioned something about Matteo being the owner of the company," She said to herself, and at that moment, her mind began to wander back to the first day she’d seen him.
She and Beatrix were making their way back home after a long day of classes when Matteo’s car pulled up, and almost instantly, her attention was drawn to him.
For a moment, she was speechless by his appearance. His golden brown hair shimmered in the sunlight like silk, and his eyes were so piercing that it felt as though they drilled into her very soul when she first beheld them – but he had been looking at his baby sister.
She didn’t see the rest of him, as he had been standing behind the car while he waited for Beatrix to get close.
"Oh God, why am I recalling this now?" She thought to herself as she shook her head and returned her gaze to her computer.
"Quinn group of companies current CEO,"
Let’s check him out now, shall we?
Her breath hitched as soon as she clicked the search button, for almost immediately, the regal portrait, glistening with an aura of dominance and power popped up on her screen.
He’s even more – breathtaking than I could remember.
His hair was curled up in seemingly puffy waves, masking the hexagonal features of his inviting face. His eyebrows were full and well-trimmed, slightly shielded by the frame of the transparent glasses that he wore.
