Chapter 210: Won’t allow
"That’s a lot of pressure," Beatrix huffed.
"I know that I want you. I know that given a million options, I would choose you every time, but if you don’t feel the same, then that is enough of an answer for me. Choose me or don’t, but I know that revenge had nothing to do with our relationship after day one. It was just an excuse to keep seeing you," Damien replied while standing slowly.
He towered over her, the picture of masculinity, of power, of strength. Yet, his eyes proved that he felt as confused, as wild, as messy as Beatrix did. She wasn’t the only one hurt. Damien meant every word coming out of his mouth and that willingness to be vulnerable and real mattered.
Beatrix stood slowly, her eyes staying on his as she swallowed. All she wanted was this kind of openness from them. She’d craved it – the assurance that they wanted her the same way she wanted them.
"This is more than attraction or lust, isn’t it?" She asked him.
"I crave your company, your time, all of you," Damien answered. "Even when I don’t want to, I can’t help it, Beatrix."
She swallowed hard, not quite sure what else to say. Damien’s gaze stayed fixed on her, patiently waiting for her decision. She nodded once and he arched an eyebrow. He was a man of words. He liked clarity, but Beatrix could only choke out a soft ’yes’.
"Yes?" Damien asked.
She nodded again. "Yes."
He closed the space between them, his hand cupping the back of her neck as he pressed his forehead to hers. She gripped the sides of his shirt, little gasps leaving her throat as she fought the tears and tremors of lust that were shaking her core.
"You’ll forgive me in time, Beatrix. All I need is this chance," he assured as his breath plumed across her cheek.
"I know. You keep your promises," she whispered.
His lips crashed down on hers, hungry and demanding, but she slowed him, sucking his bottom lip as she clutched him tighter. Damien stroked down her back, pulling her body against his until she moaned and parted her mouth to welcome his tongue. He groaned and slid his free hand into her hair, gripping and stroking.
As they kissed, Beatrix melted against him. Damien had become so much to her, safety, warmth, a rock that could weather everything and anything. The thought of losing him, of him just walking away had been too much. Her tongue curled with his as she tried to memorize every sound leaving his throat, every line of muscle, and his taste.
He made her dizzy, ruined every shred of restraint, and soothed it all with every touch and kiss.
"I missed you," he rasped against her lips. "So much, Beatrix. It was like I couldn’t breathe."
"Good," she panted while prying his jacket off him. She needed more to touch, needed to enjoy everything he offered.
Damien chuckled and picked her up before pinning her to the wall. He grabbed her wrist and held it above her head, their fingers interlocked. "You are mine, Beatrix. I never want to think about you with someone else. I don’t want you to think about anyone else."
She nodded and kissed him again. Her leg wrapped around his hip in a way that felt so natural, so right that she didn’t question it. Her body rolled against Damien as he pulled at her dress, swallowing her moans.
"I want you," he snarled against her parted lips. "I need to prove how much I care about you, Beatrix."
"How?"
Before he could answer, the door opened. Beatrix drew back, certain it was Rhys. While she’d been seeing both of them, everything felt new and fragile and the last thing she wanted was to ruin it or break their current truce.
However, when she heard who had entered, her face went pale. She gently pushed on Damien’s chest.
He pulled her tighter against him and kissed her again. Beatrix couldn’t resist. Damien knew just what she liked and just how to wrap her mind completely and totally around him.
"Beatrix!" Her father yelled.
Damien stepped back a fraction, just enough that Beatrix could untangle herself from around him and face her father and her brother, Ares.
At least it’s only Ares, she thought. If it was her older brother or Remo, this would be much worse. Still, given the fact that her father’s face was turning a worrying shade of red and her brother’s hands were curling into fists, it was not a best case scenario.
"What is going on in here? You should not be with-" Her father started before stumbling over the words. "He is the last person you should be around."
"I understand that you’ve had your differences, Dad, but ..." Beatrix tried to find a good reason to support what they’d just walked in on, but she was sure her father wouldn’t understand. She pointed at the door. "I live here, you don’t, that means you’re supposed to knock!"
"That’s not the point right now, Bea!" Ares yelled. "You are with an enemy. Do you know what he and his brother were trying to do? Look at him now, on his phone, probably calling in backup so they can kidnap you and blame it on us."
Glancing at Damien, Beatrix noticed he was texting. She elbowed him, but her father spoke before she could. "You’re coming back with me. I’m not going to leave you here with this man. If he can even be called that."
"He is a man as much as you are," Beatrix argued. "He’s good to me and we are going to do what we please. We are still engaged remember? You sold me yourself to him."
Beatrix paused. She wasn’t used to speaking up so loudly, especially not in response to her father. She cleared her throat. "I like him and I like Rhys. It’s my personal life, not business, so I don’t want to hear anything about it."
"No, it doesn’t matter if it’s not business, you shouldn’t be with someone like him. You can do so much better!" Ares argued angrily. "I won’t allow this. I won’t."
