The Sweetest Temptation
Chapter 159: Leaving

Chapter 159: Leaving

Beatrix was ready to be discharged. She had been here for four days now.

After the doctors took final MRI and CAT scans, clearing her for a discharge, her father had already begun preparations to bring Beatrix back home. Remo and Ares had left yesterday to prepare for her arrival.

"Matteo, call back home at tell Maria to get the Beatrix’s room prepared for Beatrix’s arrival." Her father notified. "And tell her to

make sure everything she might need is available once we return

"Yes of course, Dad" Matteo agreed.

"Follow on the security with Remo and Ares too. I’m taking no risks when it comes to her security. Make sure you alert the rest of the team to keep their heads up for any suspicious activities."

"I’m already on it." Matteo assured.

"Ok great, I’m gonna go get Beatrix . Why don’t you complete the rest of the discharge procedures." Matteo suggested before heading back to Beatrix’s room.

"Are you ready?" Matteo asked softly as he watched Beatrix taking small steps out of the bathroom. The nurse had helped Beatrix changed back into a new pair of clothes since she was still having troubles walking

Matteo was quick to rush to her side, wrapping his arm around her waist as he led her back towards bed, assuring the nurse away.

"Thanks." Beatrix said shyly, watching her brother help her sit on the bed.

"Dad is just finishing up the discharge forms.

As soon as he’s done, we would get out of here.

He said gently.

Beatrix frowned. She was hoping to at least say goodbye to Damien and Rhys before they left. But they were no where to be seen.

Since Rhys left two days ago she hadn’t heard from him or seen him.

They wouldn’t even say goodbye to her before she left?

Her mood plummeted, her heart twisted with pain inside her chest.

Matteo noticed the change in Beatrix’s demeanor and asked, "What’s wrong?"

Beatrix sighed, "I was hoping to see Damien and Rhys before I left. But it seems like they’re not here."

"Beatrix." Matteo said softly, cupping her face with his hands, noticing the discomfort in her eyes.

"I can call them for you if you want. I don’t know why they didn’t come to say goodbye. Maybe it would be hard for them to watch you leave."

He whispered, his warm breath fanning her face.

Beatrix looked up at her brother, surprised by his words. She hadn’t considered that Damien and Rhys might be struggling with her leaving.

"Do you think that’s it?" she asked hesitantly.

Matteo nodded, "It’s possible. You all seems really close. It might be tough for them to say goodbye."

Beatrix’s heart lifted a little at the thought. She didn’t want to believe that they would just abandon her like that.

"Can you call them?" she asked Matteo.

"Sure, let me see if I can get a hold of them." Matteo said, pulling out his phone and stepping out of the room to make the call.

Beatrix sat on the edge of the bed, anxiously waiting for any news from Matteo. A few minutes later, he walked back into the room with a small smile on his face.

"I got a hold of them," he said.

Beatrix’s heart raced, "What did they say?"

"They’re on their way. Their car got spoilt on their way here." Matteo said.

Beatrix’s face broke into a smile, "Thank you, Matteo. You’re the best."

Matteo chuckled, "Anything for my little sister."

The door opened and her father walked inside, "Are you ready to go home?"

Beatrix shook her head, "No. I want to talk to Damien before I go."

"Beatrix...we have already scheduled the flight. If he wanted to say goodbye he should have been here by now. "

"Well I’m not going anywhere until I have seen them. You can leave if the flight is scheduled.

"Also-" Beatrix started, only to be silenced by her father.

"No. You’re staying with me from now on. I’m not letting you out of my sight. We are leaving and that’s final."

Please papa, let’s wait small..." Beatrix begged, turning her eyes away from him.

"No, you have had plenty of time to say goodbye. Not saying goodbye now won’t change anything"

Beatrix had no idea why her father was in such a hurry to leave. He always indulged her and gave into her demands but for some reason he looked tense and in a hurry to go back home.

She turned to look at Matteo but he just shook his head.

"Papa.."

He refuted. "And. End of discussion." Her father stated, leaving absolutely no room for argument.

Beatrix silenced herself, knowing well that if her father had made up his mind, she wouldn’t be able to change it.

She could only hope that Damien and Rhys would reach here before they leave.

With a heavy heart, Beatrix watched as her father and Matteo gathered her things and prepared to leave. She couldn’t shake off the feeling that something wasn’t right, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on what it was.

As they made their way out of the hospital and into the waiting car, Beatrix couldn’t help but feel like she was leaving a part of herself behind. She had made so many memories in this country, both good and bad, and it was hard to imagine leaving them all behind.

As they drove through the city, Beatrix couldn’t help but notice the heightened security around them. It seemed like her father had really taken her safety seriously, but she couldn’t understand why.

"Is everything okay, Papa?" she asked, trying to keep her tone light.

Her father didn’t respond, instead, he just looked straight ahead with a stern expression on his face.

Beatrix knew better than to push the subject, so she settled back into her seat and watched the city pass by outside the car window.

It wasn’t until they arrived at the airport that Beatrix finally got a chance to speak to her father again.

"Papa, why are we in such a hurry to leave?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Her father sighed, "It’s not safe for you here, Beatrix. I received some information that leads me to believe that your safety is at risk."

Beatrix’s heart skipped a beat. "What kind of information?"

Her father hesitated, "I can’t go into details right now, but trust me, it’s not safe for you to stay here."

Beatrix felt a knot form in her stomach. She couldn’t imagine what kind of danger she could be in, but she knew better than to question her father’s judgment.

Damien and Rhys were in a rush as they rushed through the busy airport terminal, scanning the crowds for any sign of Beatrix. They had received a call from Matteo, Beatrix’s brother, that she was still at the hospital and that they had missed their chance to say goodbye.

"Where could she be?" Rhys said, frustration evident in his voice. "We have to find her before she boards that plane."

Damien was equally anxious. "I don’t know, but we have to keep looking. She can’t leave without saying goodbye to us."

As they hurried through the terminal, weaving through the throngs of travelers, Rhys caught a glimpse of a familiar figure in the distance.

"Wait, is that her?" he said, pointing ahead.

Damien squinted, trying to make out the figure. "It could be. Let’s go."

They hurried towards the figure, their hearts racing with anticipation. As they drew closer, they saw that it was indeed Beatrix, standing near the boarding gate with her father.

"Bea!" Rhys shouted, running up to her and wrapping her in a tight embrace. "We thought we had missed you."

Beatrix hugged Rhys back tightly, tears streaming down her face. "I’m so glad you’re here," she said, her voice choked with emotion.

Damien hugged her next, after they pulled apart he joined his forehead against hers.

"Damn...I thought I wouldn’t get the chance to say goodbye."

Beatrix smiled weakly at Damien. "You know I couldn’t leave without saying goodbye to my two favorite people," she said, wiping away her tears.

Rhys chuckled. "We wouldn’t have let you," he said, grinning.

Beatrix’s father cleared his throat, pulling the group’s attention to him. "We should get going, Bea. Your flight is about to depart," he said, looking at his watch.

Beatrix nodded, turning to face them. "I’ll miss you guys so much," she said, her voice shaking. "Thank you for being there for me."

Damien and Rhys exchanged a glance before Rhys spoke up. "We’ll miss you too, but we’ll always be here for you, no matter what," he said, giving her another hug.

Beatrix’s father stepped forward, placing a hand on her shoulder. "It’s time, Beatrix," he said gently.

Beatrix took a deep breath, looking at each of them in turn. "Goodbye, guys," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. She wanted to kiss them so bad but her father and brother was here.

"Goodbye, Bea," Damien and Rhys said in unison, watching as she turned and walked towards the gate, disappearing from view.
