The Sweetest Temptation
Chapter 158: Caught

Chapter 158: Caught

Matteo walked into the hospital room where his sister Beatrix was supposed to be resting after her surgery.

He expected to find her alone, sleeping peacefully in her bed. Instead, he saw that she was sharing the bed with someone.

Matteo furrowed his brows. Could it be Damien? His first instinct was to feel a pang of jealousy.

He had always been protective of his sister and didn’t like the idea of anyone else being so close to her.

But as he looked closer, he could see that the person was holding Beatrix’s hand and gently stroking her hair.

It was clear that he was just there to support her and keep her company while she recovered.

Yeah he had to accept that his sister would very soon belong to him.

Beatrix was sleeping soundly, her breathing slow and steady. Her face was peaceful, without any signs of pain or discomfort.

Matteo approached the bed quietly, not wanting to wake them up. He looked at his sister and felt a surge of affection and protectiveness.

He knew that Beatrix had been through a lot lately, and seeing her sleeping so peacefully made him feel grateful that she was okay.

But what he saw made his blood boil.

There, on the hospital bed, lay Beatrix, her engagement ring glinting in the dim light of the room.

And next to her, wrapped in each other’s arms, was Rhys - Damien’s brother. They were sleeping together, their bodies intertwined intimately.

Matteo felt sick to his stomach when he saw. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing - he had seen them

He stood there for what felt like an eternity, frozen in shock and disbelief. Finally, he found his voice.

"What the hell is going on here?" he demanded, his voice shaking with anger and hurt.

Beatrix and Rhys stirred at the sound of his voice, pulling apart slowly and looking at him with guilty expressions.

Matteo’s heart broke as he saw the remorse in his sister’s eyes - he had always been so protective of her, and now she had done something unforgivable.

"I can’t believe this," Matteo muttered, his fists clenching at his sides. "How could you do this, Beatrix? How could you cheat on Damien with his own brother?"

Beatrix hung her head in shame, unable to meet her brother’s gaze. "I’m sorry, Matteo," she whispered. "I don’t know what came over me. It was a mistake, I swear."

"A mistake?" Matteo spat out incredulously.

"This is not the first time I have seen you two together. I thought you would feel ashamed the first time I saw and change Beatrix. It’s a betrayal. Do you have any idea how much you’ve hurt Damien? How much you’ve hurt our family?"

Rhys tried to intervene, but Matteo silenced him with a glare. "You stay out of this," he snapped. "You’re just as guilty as she is."

The room fell silent as Matteo glared at his sister and her lover. He was seething with anger, but he knew that he needed to keep his emotions in check.

Beatrix was his sister, and he loved her despite what she had done. But he also knew that she needed to take responsibility for her actions.

"Beatrix," he said finally, his voice calmer but no less firm. "You need to tell Damien what you’ve done.

You need to confess and face the consequences of your actions.

And you need to do it now, before it’s too late."

Beatrix sighed, "Damien knows." She said,

"What?" Matteo raised his brows.

"Yes we are in an open relationship."

Matteo was taken aback by Beatrix’s revelation. He had no idea that Damien and Beatrix had an open relationship. He felt a mix of relief and confusion.

Relief that his sister had not cheated on Damien and confusion as to why she didn’t tell him earlier. Matteo shook his head, trying to make sense of everything.

"I...I had no idea," he said slowly. "Why didn’t you tell me before?"

Beatrix looked up at him, her eyes pleading for understanding. "I didn’t want to make things awkward between us," she said. "And Damien and I wanted to keep our relationship private."

Matteo nodded, still processing everything. He felt relieved that his sister had not betrayed Damien, but he was also confused as to why she would want an open relationship.

"Okay, I understand," he said finally. "But you still need to be careful. Not everyone is okay with open relationships, and you don’t want to hurt anyone unintentionally."

Beatrix nodded in agreement. "I know, Matteo," she said. "I’ll be more careful in the future."

Matteo sighed, feeling a weight lifted off his chest. He was glad that his sister had not done something unforgivable, but he also knew that they needed to have a serious conversation about boundaries and communication.

"I’m just glad everything’s okay," he said finally. "But we need to talk more about this. We can’t just sweep it under the rug and pretend like nothing happened."

Beatrix nodded, a small smile on her face. "I know, Matteo," she said. "Thank you for understanding."

Matteo nodded back, feeling relieved and grateful that they could move forward from this.

He knew that they had a lot to talk about, but for now, he was just happy that his sister was safe and happy.

Matteo pulled up a chair and sat down next to Beatrix, taking her hand in his. "Are you feeling okay? Do you need anything?" he asked, concern etched on his face.

Beatrix smiled weakly at her brother. "I’m fine, Matteo. Just a little sore," she said.

Rhys spoke up, breaking the awkward silence that had settled in the room. "I should probably go," he said, getting up from the bed.

Matteo nodded in agreement, still a little unsettled by what he had just witnessed.

"Yeah, maybe that’s for the best," he said. "Thanks for keeping her company, Rhys."

Rhys nodded and made his way to the door. Before leaving, he turned to Beatrix and gave her a gentle hug. "Take care of yourself, okay?" he said softly.

Beatrix nodded, a small smile on her face. "I will," she said.

As soon as Rhys left the room, Matteo turned to his sister. "You know, Beatrix, I just want you to be happy," he said. "But you need to be careful. Not everyone is going to be okay with this kind of relationship."

Beatrix nodded, understanding the concern in her brother’s voice. "I know, Matteo. And I promise to be careful."

Matteo squeezed her hand, his eyes searching hers. "I love you, Beatrix," he said softly.

"I love you too, Matteo," Beatrix replied, her voice barely above a whisper.

Matteo nodded, "I don’t know how Remo and dad is going to take this but for now we have to keep it a secret okay?"

"Alright." Beatrix said softly.

"I was afraid you were going to be angry when you find out. You’re taking this better than I had thought." She added.

Matteo smiled at his sister. "I may not agree with everything you do, but I will always love and support you," he said. "We’re family, and that means we stick together no matter what."

Beatrix’s eyes welled up with tears, touched by her bro.

Matteo smiled at his sister. "I may not agree with your choice, but I love you and I want you to be happy," he said. "And I’m just glad that you didn’t do something that would have hurt someone else."

Beatrix nodded, a grateful expression on her face. "Thank you, Matteo," she said. "I appreciate your support."

Matteo squeezed her hand once more before standing up. "I’m going to head out to find you something to eat. But let’s talk more about this soon, okay?"

Beatrix nodded, "Okay."

"Do you have any breakfast in mind you want?. " He asked.

Beatrix shook her head. "No, I don’t really have a preference," she said. "Just get me whatever looks good."

Matteo smiled at her. "Alright, I’ll be back soon," he said before leaving the room.

Beatrix nodded, watching as her brother made his way to the door. As he left, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief that he knew the truth.

She knew that they still had a lot to talk about, but for now, she was just glad that everything was out in the open.

Taking a deep breath, Beatrix closed her eyes and leaned back against the pillows. She knew that her life was about to get more complicated, but she also knew that she was ready for whatever came her way

As these thoughts swirled around in her mind, Beatrix heard a knock on the door. "Come in," she called out.

The door opened and Ares walked in, holding a bouquet of flowers. "Hey," he said with a smile. "I wanted to bring you these. I hope you’re feeling better."

Beatrix smiled at him, touched by his thoughtfulness. "Thank you, bro," she said, taking the flowers from him. "That’s really sweet of you."

Ares shrugged. "I just wanted to do something nice. I told Matteo to wait for me but he left me alone." he said with a pout.

"How are you feeling?"

"I’m fine."

"Are you willing to go home now?"
