Chapter 112: Discharged

Chapter 112: Discharged

Beatrix was worried sick, ever since Rhys left she hadn’t heard or seen him again. It’s been three days now and the doctor had agreed to discharge Damien.

Remo had found them the place and he had told her that Matteo had left because he had an emergency he had to take care of. But Beatrix knew better.

He was disgusted with her and he couldn’t bear to even look at her again. She had called him, trying to explain to him but he wasn’t picking up his calls.

She wanted to call Stella and informed her about the turns of events but she couldn’t even reach her too.

Beatrix felt abandoned by the whole world. She knew her actions had consequences and she guessed this was one of them.

Her father too hadn’t stopped asking questions about Rhys. Even though he tried to hide it, Beatrix could detect the apprehension in his voice.

She knew her father wasn’t a good man and had done a lot of awful things in the past but he was a changed man now.

He had entered into a dark phase when her mother died. He had done lots of unforgivable things to overcome his grief.

But she hoped, really hoped that Rhys wasn’t one of the people he had fucked over.

His parents had been murdered and he hoped that her father wasn’t responsible for it.

She had to ask him. Once they settled down she would demand answers. Why was he so apprehensive about who Rhys is?

"Hey are you okay?" Damien asked softly, snapping her out of her thoughts.

"No, I still haven’t heard from Rhys and he is not picking my calls. I’m worried, Damien. What if he does something stupid? What if he needs me right now? I’m scared, I don’t want him to be alone.

He looked pretty messed up when he was leaving and his eyes were dull and empty. Do you know why he suddenly relapsed?"

Damien’s eyes glinted with an unknown emotion,

"No."

Beatrix sighed, "Hmm. I’m sorry, I messed up everything. It’s all my fault. If I had been more careful—"

"Don’t worry darling, Xavier is looking for him. I’m sure we will get feedback soon."

Beatrix nodded, "Alright. Let’s wait for the doctors to come so that we know what to do. Are you excited to go home?"

Damien smiled softly at her, "Of course, I can’t wait to hold you in my arms."

Beatrix flushed, "Me too. I miss you."

The door opened and the doctor walked inside.

"Hello, Mr. Niarchos I can see you’re really doing well today."

Damien nodded, "Yes. Thank you for your care."

The doctor waved his hands dismissing his gratitude, "It’s my job. I’m glad you were able to pull through. I was afraid we lost you. You’re really a fighter."

"Well it’s because I have something worth fighting for." He said turning to look at Beatrix.

Beatrix’s cheeks reddened with embarrassment as the doctor glanced at her.

"Ah I see. Alright so your test results came back."

Dr. Kyle said as soon as he was done going through the routine tests with Damien, checking up on the progress of his case.

"Dr. Kyle, how is Damien? Is everything alright?"

Beatrix asked, unable to disguise the worry in her voice.

"Well, there’s some good new and some bad." The doctor began

. "The good news is that all the swelling in his brain has reduced significantly."

"Thank god." Beatrix said, letting out a breath she didn’t know she was holding.

"But what about the bad news?" Damien asked.

"Ah, yes." Dr. Kyle said, looking down at the file in his hands.

"He may experience difficulty balancing which can affect the way he walks.

Of course they are temporary things and will heal as time progresses but make sure he isn’t unattended, especially when he is walking down stairs or crossing the street."

Dr. Kyle stated.

"Don’t worry about that. I assure you, I will not leave him alone." Beatrix assured.

"Anything else I should look out for?"

"Bedrest is strong advised. Make sure he gets a lot of rest and keep an eye on him during the nights.

Head injuries usually have an effect on sleep cycles. I’ll give you prescriptions for all of the medication he needs."

"Thank you so much Dr. Kyle." Beatrix said.

The doctor nodded, "Welcome."

"Do you think you can discharge us today? He does have a threat and I don’t want to take any risks keeping him here."

"I’ll inform the hospital staff and they can start the discharge papers." Dr. Kyle notified with a smile.

"Great." Beatrix said contently.

"Yes once he fully recovers we can start discussing plans for his plastic surgeries for his face. It will be difficult but not impossible."

Beatrix smiled and nodded, "Alright."

She glanced at Damien and sighed. He still hadn’t seen his face yet. He was waiting, probably waiting for them to get home.

She only hopes that he could withstand the shock.

"I will leave you two to prepare. Let me know if you need anything."

The doctor said before he walked out of the room.

The sound of the phone ringing sounded in the room.

Beatrix picked up her phone and saw that it was Xavier,

"Hello?"

"Yeah Beatrix. Let Damien know that I have found Rhys. He was staying at some hotel at the outcast of the town."

Beatrix breathed a sigh of relief, "Oh my God. How is he? Is he okay?"

She asked concern etching in her voice.

"Don’t worry he is fine. I’m here with him so I can’t go with you to the new house. Remo will be picking you up."

"Okay. Thank you Xavier."

"Don’t mention."

She hung up the call and turned to Damien.

"He had found Rhys. He was staying at a hotel."

Damien sighed and raked his hands through his hair, "Fucking bastard, remember to remind me that I will beat his ass when we see him."

Beatrix chuckled, "I will."
