The SSS Beast King: Rebirth of the Legendary Predator -
Chapter 64: Rebellion
Chapter 64: Rebellion
As my eyelids opened, I returned to the white cube from the first game. But this time, there were many more things than just a chest. There were puzzles, on the floor and walls of the cube, and of course Anri.
I was happy there wasn’t anything physical, or else I would have been dead. But what was this game really? It seemed like it required a lot of mind power, but was that it? It could, it wouldn’t ever be that simple.
[Welcome to the third game, in this game you will have to choose which one of the puzzles you want to do. You could go with the easiest and win the immunity, or risk it and do a harder one that also gives you a reward. The rewards will be beneficial, so I suggest trying them out. But, whenever the first leaves, the rest get nothing, so you can risk for a reward or escape with immunity.]
Were the people losing interest, system? It makes sense now, why it took so long for this game to finally start. A grace period, that was all made up, if there was one it would have been specified when it started, or at the beginning.
It was simple, things haven’t been going the system’s way and so people have been losing interest in this channel, so they had to change the game so it lasts longer, that is why it encourages the puzzles with rewards since they last longer.
I looked over at Anri, who had already started solving one of the puzzles. What surprised me was that she hadn’t gone with the easiest, something I expected her to do. Also, she hadn’t spoken a word to me. Seems she was still mad, but had my sacrifice not done anything to make her at least speak to me inside the games?
Meanwhile, we don’t need it in this one, we might need it soon enough. I sighed and looked over at some of the other puzzles. But not catch my interest, well it wasn’t like I wanted to solve one in the first place. I had another plan, but I wasn’t sure it was going to work, knowing that if I fail, Anri is still here doing a puzzle is relaxing.
The reason I was doubting my plan was the condition I was in. I still hadn’t fully recovered, so if I went with my plan not only would I risk worsening my injury, but it would fail entirely. It was a huge risk,
but when had I not taken a risk?
[Activating Skill... [Crownless Monarch]]
As they whispered those words in my ears, the wind bowed down at my feet, as if letting itself falter to my hand. The world itself had lost its pride and had knelled in front of me.
I loved this feeling. Having the world as my subordinates, was something indescribable. It made me feel free like I had actually escaped fate, even if that was impossible. After all, escaping fate is just going on another straight path.
My body started to crumble in the air, as I felt completely weightless, made out of only electrons. My hands were first, the pieces getting caught by the wind which guided them along the room. Then my feet and torso, and finally my head.
Really, the feeling of being detached from your body isn’t really all that sunshine and rainbows, it’s very confusing, and motion-sick. You can’t see, not even a little, so you have to guide yourself using gravity, which isn’t the most reliable source.
So it took me some tries before I finally manifested outside of the box. But I had done it, now the question was if this counted or not. Maybe we would be disqualified or even worse, completely eliminated from the game. Well, fingers crossed.
[The third game has ended. Winners Jacob Moon and Anri Ashcroft]
Huh, would you look at that, luck was finally on my side? Now, what did this mean? Of course, we had immunity, but was it only that? I couldn’t have risked everything for just immunity, right?
No, I didn’t. My true intention with all of this was ending the game as soon as possible because if the system went so far as putting rewards on the line, it was desperate to keep an audience, so with the end ending so fast, people would stop watching. And without an audience, the scenario would be forced to end sooner.
Though the system could put a target on me because of it. Though I really didn’t care much if it did. But I did hope it wasn’t going to try doing anything like elimination, I mean, I did do it fare and square. There was no rule against skills being used, so using my skill to escape the cube seemed reasonable to me.

Whenever we got back, everyone had gotten silent. I was so caught up in what the system could do to me that I had completely forgotten that there were other people here and that many were very intrigued by that reward. And with me ending the game in seconds, their chance was stolen from them before they even started.
Had I made enemies with everyone around here? Well, that wasn’t good. I was all right with the system because it couldn’t really do much if I played by the rules. But in this case, there were many things they could do to me. Meaning I had to avoid meeting anyone until the atmosphere calmed down a little.
Also, the system hasn’t spoken a word since then, so it makes me wonder what it’s thinking. Well, its whole plan is in shambles probably. Its mind racing to find something that would bring everyone back to its channel.
Which is why I was sweating a little. I could imagine whatever terrifying thing the system decided so the games could continue. Maybe add a new mechanic completely. But would that bring an audience? Or maybe adding more people. But was that really possible now? No one can enter or leave a scenario before it ends so it doesn’t make sense for others to join.
What I thought the system was going to do, and what I would have done in its place is simple. This game, the fourth, is going to be the last. Meanwhile, it eliminated two games and probably two or three elimination rounds, there was no alternative. A game that decides them all, and with the number of people still remaining a high elimination ratio is bound to attract attention, maybe even more than it would originally draw, and with the state the show is right now, it was something the system couldn’t decline. It was like a true savior for it.
But with how much it took last time for it to decide what to do, I had a lot of time on my hands, time that I didn’t know how to use. I couldn’t train, I was already exhausted after using my skill to escape the game, but to train. So reading a book... no, that’s isn’t an option. I was bored out of my mind, and a book was not going to help in the slightest with its predictable nature. I needed something different, something that a book couldn’t provide. Something different and unpredictable.
[...]
’Eclipse, you mind if we hang out for a little?’ It was a bold decision, something that even I didn’t expect to hear from myself. But, it was exactly what I needed. Something different from all of those dark stories I read inside the library. And of course, Eclipse was as unpredictable as it gets. Someone whose mind I couldn’t read. One that mood changes with every one of my comments. He can be sad, and the next second laughing like a maniac.
So as much as I hated it, I decided it would be most entertaining if I spent time with the sun. As blinding as it was, and as much as I disliked his aura that hurt my eyes, it was better than looking at letters all day.
His reaction was one of surprise, but it was completely understandable since like I said, it even surprised me. But he was quick to accept my request. Never had I doubted that he would accept for us to spend time. It wasn’t like him to do such a thing.
But as he turned to talk to me. I was another figure hidden behind him. One that was a mountain, making me wonder how had I not seen him. One with a slim body, which allowed him to move at a high speed. Someone whose hair and eyes are not from the darkness, but the abyss himself. His pride was unrivaled in the scenario.
"Since when were you guys buddies?" Dusk said with a frustrated face as he stared at me. It seems he wasn’t so happy with losing. Well, it’s expected after he made all that commotion in the first elimination game. But he was right, when had I become buddies with a noble, and a human to be more exact?
