Chapter 96: Lord NameGiver-From-the-Void-rius

I named the man with the tied-back hair Nova.

"It is a pleasure to make your acquaintances," he said with a polite bow. "I only hope to work diligently for the Lord."

He wasn’t the loud type—or a man of many words—but when I met him yesterday, I had this feeling we’d get along just fine.

Like the Demon Wolves, Nova had enough power to catch my attention, but there was also a quiet melancholy in his eyes.

Well, they were new, after all. And not everyone’s like Trigger and the others who started off with all that lively energy.

Standing beside him was a red-haired lady who looked like she was in her late twenties.

Unlike Nova, she radiated intensity with a fiery gleam in her eyes.

"This one is called Phoenix," she said with gusto. "A wonderful name gifted to this one by the Supreme Lord. It is this one’s privilege. This one hopes to serve to the best of her abilities!"

And there you have it.

Her sharp green eyes flashed, she smiled, bowed, and stepped back.

She looked like the type who’d knock on her boss’s door at the dead of night just to submit five extra reports no one asked for.

Then the last of their group came forward.

"I was given the name Vela by the Great Lord," he began, his voice deep and gravelly. "I hope to serve his cause with my blood, sweat, and tears. I realize I’m dwarfed—greatly—by the power that fills this expanse. But I’ll train, and work, and rise to heights where I’ll no longer be a castaway among His Lordship’s forces."

Spoken like a true war veteran!

...Except, I have no clue if he’s actually a war veteran or not.

He just had that rugged, middle-aged face that was practically begging for a scar or two.

His stoic aura was almost as solid as Hachiman’s.

And he wasn’t lying either—he really was dwarfed in power.

With a PV of around 300,000, he was leagues below monsters like Jorō (1 million), Lygari (950k), or even Nova at 680k.

Don’t even get me started on the Jōnin twins and the Phantom Fangs.

Still, I had high hopes for him.

He was cute.

Like... a dangerous earth dragon kind of cute.

Well, that wraps up the introduction of the newcomers!

...Hm?

Why don’t I name the other Specter Wolves, you ask?

Of course I’m not going to do such a thing!

Do you know how many Mumoko no Kiba I’ve got hanging around now?

About 250!

If I start naming all of them, I’ll end up calling them things like "Rock," "Cloud," or "Grass" just based on whatever I see nearby.

Which is probably worse than having no name, at all. I think.

And, not to be mean, but... they don’t stand out much, in the first place.

For sure, they’re strong enough, but they all kind of look the same—large dark wolves with pale gazes.

A few have faint markings, but not enough to stick in my memory.

It’s like a field full of identical siblings.

If you guys want names, then make an impression, okay?

I don’t know... try to destroy a realm or something!

Haha—actually, don’t do that.

*

Looking at the whole crowd of frien—I mean, comrades, I couldn’t help but unconsciously smile.

I thought it was...good.

Unquestionably, I already knew Jorō wasn’t exactly sane—but then again, none of us in the group were.

Well, except me...

’What’s with that look?! I’m normal!!’

Still, I was hoping the majority of these new summons would at least be somewhat normal.

Anyway, once my big announcement wrapped up, Levi stepped forward to show me what she had.

A wide ripple gate opened beside her, and six beings stepped through it.

Blue, scaly skin. Fins for ears. Webbed hands and feet. Fish-like tails.

Yep—sea monsters have invaded!!

Well, not technically monsters.

Platform identified them as {Sea Demons.}

The one leading the group wasn’t in a towering monster form like the others, but in a human-like shape.

She had this otherworldly garment on and looked as young as a young woman.

Blue hair, golden eyes, and a crimson spear with an arrow-shaped tip.

The shaft of the spear was lined with brittle markings all the way to the base.

She still had the tail, fin ears, and other nonhuman traits, but I could tell she was probably the most interactive of the bunch.

After a nod from the seductive Levi, the sea demon girl stepped forward and bowed.

I’ve been getting bowed to a lot since arriving in Pison, haven’t I?

If only Sarvest had done the same, we might’ve been good friends by now.

Ah well. It’s okay to dream.

"I am Cetus, the leader of the Sea Demons," she said in a voice that had a strange, childlike quality to it. "It is a pleasure to meet the master of my Master. Please don’t hesitate to use us as you see fit."

With that final statement—and the innocent smile she tossed in—the Mad Trio, including Levi, her own Master, officially entered Jealousy Form.

Again. That’s how many times today?

Though, I felt strangely compelled to ask, "What kind of clothes are you wearing? It’s... kind of cute."

I didn’t mean to cause any trouble, but—

The murderous auras swelling around me said I probably shouldn’t have even explored.

Cetus, oblivious or just cheeky, happily explained:

"Ah, you mean these garments of the humans? A true feast for the eyes, isn’t it? After we attacked a human ship and devoured the crew, this was the remnant. We shared the clothing amongst ourselves as trophies from the hunt."

"Your catch?" So these guys view humans like fishes to be fished...?

When I asked for clarification, she added that human flesh tastes wonderful soaked in salt water—or something to that effect.

Well. I guess I can’t say much. I used to chomp down on humans too.

Not because they tasted good or anything.

It was just the fastest way to end things.

While the other sea demons began to speak, I noticed Levi calmly stepping in to indoctrinate Cetus—like a strict mentor.

Alicia and Tamayō, meanwhile, watched like two silent members of the high council.

I say "introduce themselves," but turns out... the sea demons didn’t even have names.

Che-che-che! (Again, Ruben’s evil laugh.) freēwēbηovel.c૦m

That means it’s time for Lord NameGiver-from-the-Void-rius to make his grand return!

Also—maybe feeling inspired by Cetus’ interaction—they all began morphing into human-like forms as well.

Next up was a young-looking boy.
