Chapter 65: Chapter 65 It’s Raining
In the early morning, Mu Shuoqian had to attend an early meeting. He didn’t usually eat at home; breakfast was generally dealt with at the company, and most of the time he wouldn’t eat at all.
"Morning." A fluffy head popped out from the kitchen, smiling and waving at him with a rice spoon in hand, "Breakfast is on the table."
He glanced at it, a simple meal of porridge and a dish, accompanied by two fried egg pancakes.
"I don’t know what you like for breakfast, Western or Chinese food. If you prefer Western, I can make you a sandwich right now." Gu Qili set her own meal on the table, "However, I still recommend that you have the millet porridge, isn’t your stomach ailment not completely healed?"
His gaze was heavy as he looked at her, standing silent, lips faintly pursed into a line, with no discernible sign of pleasure or anger.
"You don’t like it, huh? I’m free this morning, and I can go make you something else right now." Seeing him unmoved, showing no intention to come eat, Gu Qili thought he didn’t want Chinese food and was about to head to the kitchen to make something else when Mu Shuoqian spoke indifferently: "No need, I’m not accustomed to eating breakfast."
After saying that, he strode to the door, changed his shoes and left.
Gu Qili stared blankly at the unwelcomed breakfast, feeling a bit hurt inside; it seemed like the last time, he also rejected the breakfast she had prepared.
Forget it, she could just eat both portions, since she’s not dieting anyway.
After eating, Gu Qili leisurely cleaned up the dishes and utensils. She had no classes that morning and was in no hurry to go to the school. It was a good chance to prepare for the upcoming French exam.
Just after washing the dishes, Mu Shuoqian unexpectedly returned. He was wearing a black suit, its expensive fabric lightly dampened by rain, even the tips of his hair were wet.
Outside the window, a gentle rain drizzled down, not heavy at all.
He silently switched to slippers, took off the coat, hanging it on the rack. His white shirt clung to his robust torso, the fabric perfectly outlining his toned physique neither too tight nor too loose, just right to show off his slim figure when dressed and muscular body when undressed.
"Don’t you have work today?" He had left in such a hurry in the morning, it looked like urgent business. Now hardly ten minutes had passed, and he’d turned back home.
"Rain." He responded succinctly and walked over to sit on the sofa, clearly with no intention of leaving again.
Gu Qili: "..."
If rain could be an excuse not to go to work, then how many office workers would pray for rain and Xiao Jingteng day after day. Indeed, a boss can afford such caprice.
"The porridge has turned cold, I’m going to reheat it." She returned to the kitchen to warm the porridge, while Mu Shuoqian’s phone also rang. It was Xiao Ran calling.
"Young Master Qian, the meeting starts in half an hour, where are you now?" Facing the neatly seated management team, Xiao Ran asked with a solemn expression.
Mu Shuoqian was always punctual for meetings and disliked tardiness; once a manager accidentally arrived five minutes late and ended up standing outside the meeting room for a full five hours, unable to enter.
Thus, these executives would always arrive half an hour early when he had a meeting scheduled.
Mu Shuoqian’s peripheral vision caught a glimpse toward the kitchen, where Gu Qili was placing a clay pot on the burner. She was wearing a white batwing shirt with a slightly open neckline, revealing the straps of her light pink bra underneath, the very one he had chosen for her the day before.
Her skin was pale, the pink color made her look cream-like. Due to her slimness, her collarbones were elegantly defined, and the little hollows of her neck were barely visible.
She said she didn’t have class this morning...
"Young Master Qian..." Thinking he hadn’t heard, Xiao Ran called out again, a bit louder this time.
Mu Shuoqian slowly dragged his gaze back, loosened his shirt collar and said naturally, "Not going, it’s raining."
Xiao Ran: "..."
How was he to explain this to everyone? **
