Gu Qili hugged a pug and waited in the rain for half an hour before a black sedan finally came speeding from a distance. Probably in a rush, it didn’t slow down upon entering the residential area. The wheels splashed rainwater to both sides until it gradually slowed down near a small garden.

The pug stood up in Gu Qili’s arms upon seeing the car and barked twice towards the direction from which the car was coming.

The car backed into a nearby parking spot, the door opened, and Tang Tianyou stepped out from the vehicle, holding a purple-black umbrella. His tall and handsome figure instantly became a unique scenery in the rain.

"A damn dog will always be a damn dog, too finicky," Tang Tianyou said, though he spoke harshly.

"Here, take your dog back," she said again, handing the pug to him, though reluctantly.

"How should I thank you?"

"No need for thanks, I should thank it for the company it gave me during this time."

Tang Tianyou reached out to take the pug, but just as he was about to grasp it, the usually docile creature suddenly sprang away, and Gu Qili, unable to hold on, let it slip from her hands.

She handed the dog back to him, making sure he had a firm grip before letting go, while sternly rubbing the pug’s head: "Don’t run off again, next time you might not be so lucky."

The pug looked back at him and awkwardly turned its head away.

It actually wanted to run back to her house, but that was something it wouldn’t express.

Separated by layers of rain and car window, Mu Shuoqian froze for a moment after hearing her crisp, sweet voice, knowing that she was with Tang Tianyou, and he was holding his jacket over her to shelter her from the wind and rain.
