Chapter 200: Chapter 189 Loving Someone, Loving a City_2

"Get going now." The good-looking brows of the man furrowed, forbidding any further rebellious words to spring forth, and Xiong Da, seeing that he was truly angered, didn’t dare to make a fuss and quickly led people away to handle matters.

Tang Tianyou exhaled a heavy breath and strode towards the casino; even if he couldn’t openly pursue her, he could at least smooth out potential dangers for her.

Xiong Da was right, she was Mu Shuoqian’s woman; he couldn’t lay a finger on her.

It’s just too bad that he met her, ultimately a step too late.

When Gu Qili got home and saw the pug, a strong sense of reluctance suddenly surged in her heart. Though their time together had been brief, only a few days, she had already developed an inseparable affection for this proud little creature.

"Pug, oh Pug, you’re going to leave your sister and return to your master soon," she murmured dejectedly, holding the pug in her arms, "I really can’t bear to part with you, not knowing if I’ll ever get the chance to see you again."

Listening to her murmuring, the pug did not give its usual aloof eye roll. Instead, breaking character, it snuggled closer into her.

Crawling into bed, she placed the pug on the carpet below and then messaged Mu Shuoqian.

She really wanted to send him a video, but considering the time difference, he was probably still working. After some thought, she gave up the idea.

But she sent several messages without any reply from him.

Finally, she could only send two words: Good night.

She thought that since she was going to bed, he should at least reply. But after waiting half the night with open eyes, the chat box on the screen still remained silent.

Gu Qili still couldn’t give up, continuing to wait until sleep eventually overtook her, still clutching her phone in hand.

Waking up the next morning, the first thing she did was to check her WeChat. The chat history ended with her "Good night" from yesterday. He had not replied.

Gu Qili began to worry; no matter how busy his work, it couldn’t be so busy that he didn’t have a moment to glance at his phone. So, disregarding the time difference and his work, she dialed his number directly.

Unexpectedly, the call didn’t go through.

Gu Qili panicked for real, this feeling of being unable to reach him left her helpless.

She could only redial his number over and over again.

Just as Gu Qili was making the Nth call, a call came in. Thinking it was Mu Shuoqian, she answered without looking, her voice hurried and joyful: "Mu Shuoqian, you..."

There was a pause on the other end, then a magnetic, elegant voice slowly responded: "I am Tang Tianyou."

Gu Qili paused for a moment: "Sorry, Mr. Tang, I didn’t see your number. You’re here to pick up the pug, right?"

"Yeah, are you free now?"

"Yes, could you please come to the little park in front of our community?"

"Sure."

"Then I’ll wait for you there," Gu Qili said, providing the specific address and then adding, "It’s about to rain, remember to bring an umbrella."

Tang Tianyou said okay and then hung up the phone.

Gu Qili still couldn’t reach Mu Shuoqian, her heart heavy with thoughts.

She changed clothes, took an umbrella, and left the house with the pug in her arms.

Last night, with flashing lightning and rolling thunder, the rain had lasted a long time before stopping. This morning, the weather was still gloomy, another downpour seemingly inevitable. Gu Qili suddenly remembered the day she picked up the pug — the weather was just as terrible, its eyes peeking at her through the curtain of rain, an image still vivid in her mind.

At this thought, her nose tingled with sourness. She patted the pug’s head and whispered, "I really can’t bear to let you go."

Holding it, she went to the flowerbed where she had found it. The pug, well-behaved, did not run around, squatting by her side looking at the sky.

Gu Qili tried calling two more times, but still couldn’t get through to Mu Shuoqian. The unease in her heart grew, fearing that something might have happened to him.

Just then, a drop of water fell on her face, followed by two drops, then three. Gu Qili looked up to see the rain increasing from a drizzle to a downpour.

Hurriedly, she opened the umbrella and pulled the pug into her embrace.

The weather sure changed in an instant.

On the plane, the flight attendant was repeating over and over that the flight would be landing in twenty minutes. Please fasten your seatbelts, stow away your tray tables, and turn off all electronic devices.

Finally about to land, Xiao Ran let out a breath. They were supposed to arrive in Aus City early this morning, but due to last night’s adverse weather, the landing was impossible, and the plane was forced to divert to a nearby airport. Now, at ten in the morning, they were only belatedly approaching Aus City.

He cautiously glanced at the man beside him whose complexion seemed as gloomy as the sky outside.

Xiao Ran thought, no wonder Young Master Qian was irritated; he had been working overtime in Country F just to return to Aus City earlier and then surprise his wife with an unexpected joy. He hadn’t expected the flight delay to cancel his plans, probably turning the surprise into a scare now as his wife must be anxious from not being able to contact him.

Mu Shuoqian kept fiddling with the phone in his hand that was already powered off. Though anxious, he could do nothing.

It wasn’t until the plane landed safely that he quickly turned it on again, and indeed, several messages popped up on WeChat. Some were from last night; some from this morning. It was clear she was indeed frantic.

Mu Shuoqian was just about to return her call, but then hesitantly withdrew his hand. Looking out at the fine rain mist, he slightly raised one eyebrow, his handsome face reflected on the glass filled with high spirits.

He put his phone back into his pocket and said to Xiao Ran, "Is the car ready?"

"Yuan Yi is waiting outside the airport," Xiao Ran knew how eager he was to return, such a small matter was surely arranged beforehand.

Mu Shuoqian nodded, once again looking towards this land so familiar he couldn’t be more familiar with. In the past, no many how many times he flew in and out, he never felt any longing. But now, just looking at the city’s rain made him feel a delicate longing intense as silk.

Love a person, so, love a city.

If he couldn’t give a grand surprise, a small surprise wouldn’t be bad either.

Gu Qili said: Ba Ge says that if there are five monthly passes today, he’ll add an extra update!
