Chapter 169: Chapter 164 Does Miss Gu Have Someone She Likes?_2
Li Xiangtian couldn’t help but give Gu Qili several looks. She’d already given up on Mu Shuoqian, stood up, and went to get the employment application from the recruiting assistant to fill out. Qi Meihui, who felt ignored, turned livid with anger. Since it was Mu Shuoqian’s decision, she couldn’t change it. However, since Gu Qili was under her management now, there would be plenty of opportunities for revenge later; there was no need to rush.
Mu Shuoqian held Gu Qili’s resume, deftly tore off the two-inch photo attached, and then tossed the resume into the shredder.
For him, the only valuable thing was the photo, because looking at it evoked a strong desire to throw her on the bed and ravage her.
He slipped the photo into a compartment in his wallet, then nonchalantly turned on his computer and continued with his work.
As soon as Gu Qili walked out of the meeting room, she ran into Luan Yi, who was craning her neck to peek inside.
People outside were discussing the fact that the CEO from Portugueseview had personally come down for interviews, and those who had seen him were praising his looks to no end, making others anxious for their turn. Luan Yi was among those eagerly waiting.
Gu Qili didn’t even spare her a glance, shouldered her bag, and prepared to leave when Luan Yi grabbed her and asked condescendingly, "Didn’t get it, did you?"
"You’re as annoying as a fly. What my interview results have to do with you?" Gu Qili shrugged off her hand, feeling baffled by Luan Yi’s dislike despite not knowing her at all. It seemed that anyone related to Qi Meihui was annoying.
"Hmph, I’ll go tell my aunt soon to not hire you. I’ll see if your second uncle is more influential or my aunt," said Luan Yi, doubting that Mu Shuoqian was her actual second uncle.
Gu Qili couldn’t be bothered with her and left with an eye roll.
Right after she left, it was Luan Yi’s turn. She hurriedly put on light makeup and only after ensuring her smile was perfect did she gently knock on the door.
Upon entering, Luan Yi looked around, but besides Qi Meihui and Li Xiangtian, there was no hint of Mu Shuoqian at the conference table.
Annoying, she thought, those people must have lied; why would Mu Shuoqian come here.
Returning home feeling a bit depressed, Gu Qili had originally wanted to rely on her own abilities for the interview. She didn’t expect to still end up using Mu Shuoqian’s connections in the end.
Unexpectedly, Qi Meihui turned out to be the manager of the French Restaurant. Gu Qili only knew that Qi Meihui and Mu Hewen worked at Portugueseview but had no clue about her exact role.
No wonder Mu Shuoqian took a trip personally; if it was up to Qi Meihui, she would definitely try every means to not hire her.
Before, he was vehemently opposed to letting him work as a waiter, yet in a blink of an eye, he was aggressively paving the way for him; Gu Qili’s heart warmed with gratitude.
Before she could fully bask in the warm feelings, the person she was moved by came back. Gu Qili quickly ran over,
"Nothing." Just waiting for dinner.
"Change your clothes and join me for some tennis," Mu Shuoqian said before heading into his bedroom.
Gu Qili also hadn’t exercised in a long time, and upon hearing his suggestion, excitedly went to change.
Coming out from the room, Mu Shuoqian had already changed and was fetching tennis rackets from the storeroom.
Seeing him, Gu Qili was momentarily stunned.
Mu Shuoqian was dressed in a black sports outfit with white sneakers, his hair not the usual meticulous style but casually fluffy from washing. The way he slung the racket bag over his shoulder looked exceptionally cool.
"What are you looking at?" Mu Shuoqian called out to her, slightly annoyed.
Hurrying over, Gu Qili wore a red sports outfit, contrasting his black one, making them an especially good match.
They didn’t go far, using the gym in their residential area where many residents came to play tennis.
Although Gu Qili wasn’t very good at tennis, Mu Shuoqian’s form suggested a professional player, every move echoing Novak Djokovic.
After playing a while, Gu Qili called for a break. Mu Shuoqian went to buy two bottles of water, and they sat at the side of the court to rest and drink.
Soon, a lady in her fifties who seemed to be a tennis enthusiast, approached them. Clearly, she’d been watching them play for a while, her outfit indicating her passion for the game.
"Young man, you play really well, can you teach me some tricks?" she asked.
Mu Shuoqian kept sipping his water, showing no interest in responding, as if he hadn’t heard her.
Knowing that he didn’t like talking to women, even if it was just an older lady, Gu Qili lightly said,
"Auntie, he’s not much of a talker. If you want to learn, just watch him play later."
The lady seemed to understand and didn’t mind, smilingly saying, "Your boyfriend is quite handsome."
Just as Gu Qili was about to reply, the silent man next to her suddenly spoke, "I’m not her boyfriend."
Gu Qili scratched her nose.
"I’m her second uncle."
Gu Qili: "..."
The lady was also surprised and exclaimed, "Your second uncle is really young, ambitious too, Is he twenty-three this year?"
Gu Qili felt he was taking his displeasure out on her, fearing that he had heard her conversation with Luan Yi.
Mu Shuoqian was already picking up his racket ready to return to the court, his proud silhouette causing Gu Qili to chuckle behind her covered mouth.
No wonder he suddenly dressed so young to play tennis; he just wanted to prove to her that her "second uncle" wouldn’t be this young and handsome.
This man!
Gu Qili loved his pettiness and couldn’t help but catch up to his steps, calling out, "Mu Shuoqian."
As he turned his head, his face was met with a kiss. Gu Qili stepped back two paces, giggling and somewhat shy, using her racket to shield her face, her big dark eyes peeking through the net, "Mu-classmate, shall we play a round?"
Hearing this, Mu Shuoqian’s lips curled in disdain, the spot on his face she had kissed still feeling warm.
Feeling good, he lightly flicked the ball towards her with his racket, "Let’s play."
