"Hu Jiaojiao, how can you be so shameless." Gu Qili was speechless, despite her innocent and pretty face, the words she spews out really make one want to slap her, "Your ability to annoy people could earn you a postdoctoral degree, can you please stop bothering me?"

"Don’t you care about what’s happening with Yishu?" Hu Jiaojiao was desperate, gripping the strap of her bag even tighter.

"Even if I do care, I don’t need you to pass the message." Gu Qili gave a cold glance at the hand on her bag, and said coldly: "Let go."

"Qiqi, can’t you just let me have this once? You can choose anyone else."

"Sorry, but I’ve taken a fancy to this one, if you want to try, it’s fine, let’s see who’s really capable." Gu Qili forcefully pulled away her hand, almost breaking the strap of her bag.

"That’s enough, Hu Jiaojiao, you really are despicable, someone like you won’t ever be worth much, even in an economic crisis." Watching Gu Qili and Mickey walk away, Hu Jiaojiao stamped her foot and shouted: "Yishu’s family company is in trouble."

Although Gu Qili didn’t stop in her tracks, she took Hu Jiaojiao’s words to heart, as she hadn’t seen Chen Yishu for several days in a row.

"Hu Jiaojiao can’t be telling the truth, can she? Knowing her..." Mickey snorted, but still seemed worried, "Give him a call and check."

Gu Qili quickly took out her phone and dialed Chen Yishu’s number, only to find it was unreachable.

She sensed that something must be wrong and, as it happened, she ran into one of Chen Yishu’s close friends playing basketball on the sports field, so she called him over.

The guy was surprised after hearing her reason for approaching: "You don’t know? Yishu has taken a leave of absence, something has happened at his home."

It turned out Hu Jiaojiao wasn’t lying.

"Can you contact him?"

The guy shook his head: "His phone is off, and we can’t find him. If you see him, please let me know."

Gu Qili happened to know the address of the Chen Family, so after school, she went directly there to find him.

The Chen Family had a detached courtyard, with a wrought iron ornamental gate firmly closed.

Gu Qili rang the doorbell for a while until a servant came out, standing guard inside the gate and asking, "Who are you looking for?"

"Is Chen Yishu at home?"

"You’re looking for the young master? Who are you?"

"I’m his friend, my name is Gu Qili. If he’s home, could you please let him know?"

"Qili." Before the servant could respond, a window on the second floor suddenly opened, and Chen Yishu looked out. Seeing her, his face lit up with joy, "Qili, it really is you! I thought I heard wrong. Wait for me, I’ll come down to get you."

Chen Yishu hurried downstairs, still wearing his home clothes and slippers.

"Why did you come over? Come in quickly."

Gu Qili didn’t go in, seeing him safe was reassuring enough for her.

"Why did you take leave, is it true that your family company has run into trouble?"

The servant sensibly went back inside, leaving the two to talk in front of the iron gate.

"We’ve run into some trouble, my dad is still under investigation," Chen Yishu rubbed his head, "No idea who reported us, it’s about some accounting issues; the lawyers are already working on it, I’ve been helping out at the company these last few days."
