Chapter 91: Let’s finish this

Alex chuckled, blood dribbling from the corner of his mouth. "What’s this, Kingsley? Acting like a hero? You don’t belong with her. She’s..."

CRACK.

Logan’s fist connected with his face, the sound echoing like a gunshot in the room.

"Don’t speak her name!" Logan thundered, slamming him again. "You think you’re strong because you hit women? Let me show you what it means to be destroyed."

Alex staggered forward, throwing a punch in retaliation but Logan caught it midair and drove his knee into Alex’s ribs, making him howl in pain.

Jean watched through bleary eyes, her vision focusing just enough to see Logan lose all control.

Not calculated. Not cold.

Just rage.

A fierce, protective storm that turned him into something feral.

Alex lunged with a growl, trying to grab Logan’s neck, but Logan twisted behind him, hooked his arm, and slammed him face first into the corner of the table. Alex collapsed with a broken groan.

"Logan..." Jean rasped, struggling to sit up.

That sound... her voice... snapped him back to reality.

He spun around and rushed to her side, dropping to his knees. "Jean. Jean, look at me. I’m here," he said, voice trembling, eyes scanning her bruised neck, the red mark across her wrist, and the blood trickling from her temple.

Her lip trembled. "He locked the door... I couldn’t scream. I thought I’d die here."

"You’re safe now." Logan cupped her cheeks gently, brushing her hair back, his eyes glistening with fury and fear. "I’ve got you."

Emma burst in, followed by Henry. They both froze at the scene... Logan shielding Jean, Alex groaning in a bloody heap on the floor.

Emma gasped and rushed to Jean’s side.

Henry’s jaw clenched. "Call the police. Now."

Emma stopped, "no police... this is our family matter. And I know how to handle it."

But Logan didn’t move from Jean’s side. His shirt was stained, knuckles bloodied, but his arms never left her.

He looked at Alex once more with nothing but lethal coldness in his gaze.

"Touch her again," he said quietly, "and I swear, I won’t stop next time."

Emma stood frozen for a split second before storming past Logan and Jean... her heels clicking like thunder against the polished floor. Without hesitation, she slapped Alex across the face, the sound as sharp as a whip.

Then again.

And again.

"You disgusting piece of trash!" she screamed, her hands flying wildly, fury spilling out of her in every blow. "She is your own blood sister! And this is what you are doing to her?!"

"Emma!" Henry finally rushed forward and pulled her off, wrapping his arms around her waist, dragging her away from the groaning man. "That’s enough... Emma, stop it!"

Emma kicked and twisted but finally relented, her chest heaving as tears of rage filled her eyes. "He doesn’t deserve to walk. He doesn’t deserve air."

Meanwhile, Logan had his arms carefully around Jean, helping her stand.

"Careful, Jean," he murmured, his voice uncharacteristically soft. "You need medical attention. We’re taking you to the hospital. Now."

Jean shook her head violently. "No... We have to get married now."

Logan blinked, stunned. "Jean, be reasonable. You’re shaking, your head’s bleeding... you can’t even stand properly. One look at you and everyone out there will know something happened."

Her grip on his shirt tightened. "I have to marry you, Logan. Now or never."

There was no tremble in her voice. No hesitation. Only fire.

Logan looked down at her bruised face, her swollen wrist, and back at Alex lying like a broken puppet on the floor. His hands clenched at the memory of what he’d walked in on... of how close he came to losing her.

"Why?" he finally asked, voice low. "Why did he do this to you? Is it your parents? Are they after you too?"

Jean’s gaze dropped for a second. Her lips parted, but no words came.

"I can’t say anything to you..." she whispered.

Logan’s brows furrowed. "You can’t... or you won’t?"

Her eyes snapped up to his.

She stepped forward, wobbly but determined, until she was standing chest to chest with him. "You’re right. I won’t."

Logan’s jaw tensed.

"But," she said with resolve, "the moment you sign those damn marriage papers, I’ll tell you every damn thing you want to know."

There was a long silence.

Only their heavy breathing filled the room, and behind them, Emma wiped her face as Henry kept holding her, and Alex groaned with every twitch of pain on the floor.

Logan stared into Jean’s eyes, reading everything she wasn’t saying. The fear. The urgency. The secrets.

And most of all... the determination.

He exhaled sharply and nodded once.

"Alright," he said. "Let’s get married."

Emma’s hands were trembling as she worked, gently dabbing away the blood on Jean’s face with tissues soaked in bottled water. Her eyes welled up with tears, but she didn’t let them fall.

"Just hold still for me, Jean," she whispered, voice cracking. "You look like hell... but I’ll make it work."

Jean didn’t flinch, didn’t complain. She just stood there, barely holding herself up, staring ahead with a dazed sort of clarity that only came from pain and purpose fused together.

Emma reached for the coat and gently pulled it down her shoulders. The oversized garment slipped off, revealing the dress beneath.

It was stainless, surprisingly pristine despite the chaos moments ago. The elegant white silk hugged Jean’s figure, the delicate lace sleeves brushing against her bruised wrist. The pearl accents glimmered faintly beneath the dim hallway lights.

Logan moved in, silently taking Jean’s cold, trembling hand in his.

"Ready?" he asked softly, his voice a whisper meant only for her.

Jean’s eyes met his, bruised but blazing. "Let’s finish this."

And with that, Logan opened the door to the registrar room.

The chatter inside stopped instantly.

Heads turned.

The room was full... too full.

Shareholders from Adams Corporation, men and women in suits who once dismissed Logan, now stood with jaws slack as he entered, guiding a broken but unyielding bride by his side.
