Chapter 69: Your Body Might Tremble (Trigger alert)
Darla didn’t even flinch. "She’s not available for people like you."
Alex tilted his head, feigning sympathy. "Just because my sister spoke a few good words about you doesn’t mean she sees you as her equal, Kingsley."
Logan’s gaze narrowed.
Alex continued, "She does this kind of charity every now and then. Don’t flatter yourself."
That was it.
Logan’s voice dropped, low and sharp like a blade. "Watch your mouth, Adams. You have no idea what I’m capable of."
Then he turned on his heel and walked away, barely holding back the storm brewing in his chest.
Jean wanted to play? Fine.
He’d play.
But this time, he would be the one pulling the strings.
As he reached his family, he didn’t say much... just, "I’m leaving. I’ve had enough of this circus."
Martha and Jared exchanged a quick glance. They could tell something was off, but they didn’t push him. Instead, they followed him silently, sensing the tension but knowing Logan would talk when he was ready.
He didn’t look back.
Jean Adams had poked the wrong beast.

The air in the room felt colder the moment the lock clicked into place.
Jean’s breath hitched. Her heels backed her up slowly, eyes fixed on the man who turned with a slow, sickening calmness. The man she never wanted to see again.
Tyler Dominic.
"How? How could you be here?"
Her knees almost gave out. Her throat dried. Not because she was surprised... it was worse than that. It was the moment a nightmare steps into daylight.
"That was quite the speech, Jean." Tyler’s voice was smooth but venomous. He took a step toward her. "I almost felt like you were going to confess your love for that fatty."
Jean’s back hit the wall. "Don’t come any closer."
Tyler tilted his head mockingly. "Why not? You used to let me get much closer... Don’t remember?" His lips curled. "No, of course you don’t. You’re always so good at pretending."
"I will scream," Jean warned, voice trembling but defiant.
He chuckled, low and dangerous. "Oh, please do. I want to see who comes running first... your dear brother? Your pathetic father? Or maybe Kingsley?"
Jean swallowed hard. "What do you want?"
Tyler’s expression darkened as he stepped even closer, crowding her space. "What I want, Jean, is what I was promised. You."
She shook her head. "You were never promised me."
"No?" he smirked. "Then why are your parents selling you to me like a shiny little toy? Hm? Tell me, Jean... Why does everyone look at you and see something they can use?"
Her heart was broken into pieces. She knew her parents were cruel but this shit is madness. They are selling their daughter to a rapist! How could they!
Tears pricked her eyes, but she refused to let them fall. "Because monsters like you taught them how to."
Tyler’s jaw twitched.
He raised a hand... not to strike, but to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. The gentleness in the gesture only made it more revolting.
"I’m not going to hurt you... yet," he whispered. "But I need you to understand something, sweetheart. This time, you don’t get to run. This time, you’re mine."
Then there was a loud knock at the door.
A voice called from outside. "Miss Jean? Are you in there?"
Jean’s eyes shot wide open. Her lips parted to scream, but Tyler covered her mouth, pushing her back against the wall with the weight of his body.
"Say a word," he hissed, breath hot against her ear, "and I’ll make sure no one hears you again."
Her heartbeat thrashed like a caged animal. Every cell in her body screamed for escape, but she was frozen. Just like she had been the first time he touched her.
Jean was now trapped between his arms, her back pressed against the cold wall. She didn’t fight. She couldn’t. He was stronger... physically, and at this moment, mentally too.
Tyler leaned in, resting his forehead gently against hers. His breath was warm, his voice low and possessive.
"I missed you, Jean," he whispered.
He breathed in her scent, eyes fluttering shut as he let out a soft groan of satisfaction. "That was the first thing I wanted to say to you. But your little speech out there... it made me angry."
Jean trembled under his touch as his fingers moved through her hair, playing with it like he had every right to.
"I wanted to surprise you," he continued, his voice calm but cold, "but then I saw the way Kingsley looked at you. Like you were his. Irritating."
He tilted her chin up with two fingers, forcing her to look at him.
"His obsession with you still hasn’t faded, has it?"
Jean turned her face away.
His hands lands on her waist, feeling her every curve against his palm. He lowered himself and brushed his lips against her shoulder nape.
"Tell me, Jean," he said, voice tightening. "Did he touch you while you were both playing house on that island?"
She shook her head. A quick, sharp motion.
"Good," he smiled, eyes dark. "Because I wouldn’t have liked that. I like it when you’re only touched by me. When you’re only felt by me."
His tongue flicked against her earlobe, his lips now moved towards her collarbone placing his dominance on her skin. Her hands curled into fist against his suit.
And suddenly his lips landed on hers, without a warning and without her consent.
That’s when Jean snapped. She bit his lip... hard enough to taste his own blood. Making him pull away with a groan.
Her eyes locked with his, full of fire.
"I won’t let you touch me," she said, her voice low but firm. "Not now. Not ever again."
Tyler’s eyes darkened.
Her words didn’t scare him... they thrilled him.
He let out a low chuckle, the sound deep and chilling.
"You always say the prettiest lies when you’re scared, Jean," he whispered, dragging the back of his fingers down her cheek. "But I know you. I know every inch of you. Your body may tremble, but your eyes..." He leaned closer, lips barely brushing her ear. "They still remember me."
