The Ruthless CEO's Revenge Wife
Chapter 137: Hannah’s Forced Silence

Chapter 137: Hannah’s Forced Silence

The door slammed shut behind him with a sharp, echoing crack.

Emma and Hannah, who had been anxiously waiting outside, jumped at the sound. Emma reached for him instinctively, her eyes wide.

"Logan?! What happened in there?" she asked, voice full of concern. "Why do you look so...?"

But he didn’t stop.

Didn’t reply.

Couldn’t.

He stormed past them, his steps heavy and directionless... until he found himself at the end of the hallway, shoulders rising and falling with restrained fury.

He shoved open the restroom door and stumbled toward the sink. His hands gripped the edge of the marble counter like it was the only thing anchoring him to the floor.

And then he looked up.

His reflection stared back at him... eyes hollow, jaw clenched, the veins in his neck visible from how tightly he held himself together.

Why?

Why is he never enough?

Why does she always choose silence over him?

Why does she still... after everything... look at him like he’s a stranger?

Like he’s not the man who would gladly bleed for her?

Why can’t she just rely on him, even once?

He slammed a fist into the mirror... just a light punch, not enough to break it, but enough to make the sting in his knuckles match the one in his chest.

The man in the mirror wasn’t Logan Kingsley, the powerful CEO. He wasn’t the cold, calculated strategist. He wasn’t even her husband.

He was just... a man who loved her.

Desperately.

Helplessly.

And still couldn’t save her.

Logan walked back to her room , inhaling the sterile hospital air like it could somehow cool the wildfire inside him. Minutes passed... maybe more. His heart had stopped racing, but the ache in his chest remained.

Heavy.

Persistent.

Why does she keep pushing me away?

He ran a hand through his hair and exhaled slowly.

It was then that he spotted the doctor approaching.

"Mr. Kingsley," the doctor greeted gently. "Your wife is stable now. There’s no internal damage, and the burns on her arm are superficial. Thankfully, they were treated quickly. She’ll carry the marks for maybe a month or two, but they’ll fade."

Logan nodded, his jaw clenched. Relief washed over him, but it was bittersweet. No visible scars didn’t mean no pain.

He hesitated before asking, "Can I take her home now?"

The doctor smiled kindly. "Yes. We’ve discharged her already. Just make sure she rests."

Logan murmured a quiet thanks and continued toward the room, his steps cautious but determined. He paused just outside the doorway.

That’s when he heard it.

Jean’s voice. Quiet, weary... but firm.

"I want you to not tell your parents or anyone about what you saw today."

He froze.

His heart skipped a beat.

She was talking to Hannah.

Hannah... his little sister, who had just risked everything to drag Jean out of that goddamn fire.

And Jean... was asking her to lie?

The anger that Logan had barely managed to bury began to rise again, boiling beneath the surface of his skin.

He stepped inside the room. His eyes immediately fell on Jean, who was sitting upright, bandaged and pale, but still with that same guarded expression. Hannah looked startled, caught in the middle, while Emma stood silently nearby, tension in her shoulders.

"I can’t believe you," Logan said, his voice low but sharp... like a blade sheathing itself in velvet. "You’re silent when it comes to me, fine. You don’t want help, you don’t want to open up, fine. But asking my sister to be a liar like you?"

Jean’s head snapped toward him.

The color drained from her face.

"Logan..." Hannah whispered, standing up, alarm in her eyes.

But Logan wasn’t shouting. No. He was controlled. And that made it worse.

"I get that you’ve been through hell, Jean. I see that now. And I’m trying... I’m really trying to meet you halfway. But dragging Hannah into your silence? That crosses a line."

Jean opened her mouth, but no sound came.

Logan took a step forward, eyes never leaving hers. "What are you so afraid of, Jean? That the world will finally see the truth? That your family isn’t a family at all? That they’re monsters in suits?"

He scoffed bitterly. "I already see it. Emma sees it. Hannah lived it. So stop pretending that hiding it makes it any less real."

Silence blanketed the room like a storm cloud.

Jean’s hands trembled slightly where they rested on the blanket. She wasn’t looking away this time... but the pain in her eyes was undeniable.

Still, Logan didn’t move closer. Not yet.

"You’re not protecting anyone, Jean," he said softly now. "You’re just bleeding alone... and asking the people who love you to pretend it’s not happening."

He turned slightly to Hannah.

"You don’t have to lie for her," he said gently, voice softening. "Not even for me."

And with that, Logan stepped back, eyes flickering once more toward Jean before he added, "We’re going home. You can keep your secrets, Jean. But not my sister’s voice."

Then he proceeded to walk out dragging Hannah with him.

"But Hannah signed an NDA when she joined my company," she said, turning her gaze toward him as if she knew he was already there. "It clearly states that anything related to the company... and me... cannot be disclosed to a third party."

A pause.

Then she added, deliberately, as if to carve the words into his chest...

"Which means if she has to stay quiet... she will stay quiet. Even to you, Logan."

The room went silent.

Logan looked at her. Really looked.

Her face was calm. Her tone was businesslike. Cold, even. But her hands... her hands were trembling.

He didn’t say anything right away. Instead, he let the silence do its job. Let it weigh on her. Let it stretch between them like a thin, fraying rope.

Hannah’s expression was shaken. Emma looked between them nervously. But neither of them dared interrupt.

Finally, Logan stepped forward. Not in anger. But slowly, with something that almost resembled heartbreak painted across his face.

"You’re really doing this?" he said softly. "After everything?"
