Chapter 118: Chapter 117

Chapter 117

Ezekiel stepped forward on the center aisle, marching to the front of the castle’s hosts. The crow flew off from his shoulder and landed on the vacant throne seat below the platform.

"Your Majesties and Highnesses." He had his right hand across his chest to the left shoulder and the left arm to his back. He bent his upper body forward. His two men followed his movement. It is the formal greeting gesture for the Blood Court’s royal family. It had been a long time since he had made such an act.

"No need to do such a gesture, Ezekiel. You’re still a part of the court." Queen Estrella uttered.

They stood up straight, and Zek met her longing gaze. He knew those warm eyes wanted to hug him as well. But in just a blink, she changed them into a hard, cold gaze. Right. They were in front of other races. As much as what the others perceived for the vampire’s coldness, they were often the most misunderstood race because of the movies and what other untrue information spread by fictional thoughts.

"I beg to differ, your majesty. I represent the Moon Empire." He averted his gaze from his stepmother. He saw the hint of hurt. So, he transferred his eyes to his father. They stared straight at each other. "I’m their king." His father remained stoic, measuring the stony look he was giving him.

"Very well, Alpha King. You may take your seat." King Karlyle spread his palm to the vacant throne chair to Zek’s left side, the closest to the platform.

He approached the area. Gunther and Drasco stood a little behind him. Trying their best to remain upright. The presence of the pureblood vampires made them uneasy. The bloodsuckers felt the same. But the royal family wasn’t bothered much about it anymore, for they were used to his presence, as he had been with them for more than a century before he left the court and ruled the wolves.

It was just then that he roamed his eyes around. Gold and red were the theme of the castle walls, tapestries, furniture, and other things. The same chandeliers hanging in a row above them gave a yellow glow all over the room. It wasn’t that bright for the sensitive eyes of the occupants.

Then he glanced at each person that was sitting in a seat like his. Some came alone, but most had their own entourage behind them.

He can recognize them easily just by their presence and appearance. Everyone was wary of any other races. Eyes bulging in curiosity, others were squinting in observation, and some hid their emotions well by showing an expressionless face.

"Now that everyone is here, please, all be seated, and we shall jump into the important matter right away." The vampire king started.

They all took their seats, except for the extra people behind or beside each representative.

"The mortal enemies of all the supernatural races are in their rise again. The hunters."

"I thought they were the witches." The Fae representative who was sitting at the far end of the row, closest to the door, interrupted. There were two rows of seats in the room, facing each other across.

"Oh, please, your kind wasn’t even in the Grim War. So, you shouldn’t hate us without any valid point, faeri." Queen Aradria from the Coven of Witches responded. She had a small tiara on her head. It wasn’t the usual gold as the crowns should be. It was black in color, and in their history, only the strongest witch could wear it. If it was put on the wrong one, death was certain on the spot.

Ezekiel missed these banters between races. It was so thrilling to witness. Especially when powers and bodies were involved. But he’d rather not participate in any useless display of force. He’d rather work his muscles to better purposes.

"Why couldn’t you stay mute like the whites?" She was referring to the elves. Elves were quiet and gentle creatures.

"Can we not stray off topic, please? I have my own concern that I had to address too." Elven King Raindel joined the conversation. He had long white hair that reached just below his shoulders. He looked not more than 30. Everyone in the room also.

They could be grandparents or great great great grandparents or ancestors but still look in between 20 and 30. They could pass the throne if they wanted to. But that only mostly happens if they died. Which was easier than what humans thought in the supernatural world. Not everyone could be controlled under one rule. There were rebels in each race too. Each ruler had their own battles to fight within their own kind.

"Again. The hunters, this time, they were stronger, wiser, and more foolish." King Karlyle stated in a loud voice to get everyone’s attention back on the matter. "There were attacks and abductions happening in certain areas. But I’m afraid their main targets are the wolves." He looked in Zek’s direction. "And I believe the Alpha King knew it best, for he had been after them for a while now."

All the heads turned to Ezekiel. His heartbeat was obviously heard like a bass drum by the races who had sharp hearing.

He took a deep breath to somehow collect his thoughts on what to say first. He’d already expected this, but the gazes of everyone that were anticipating the horrible news he had made him nervous. He knew he was wrong to keep it from them. It was selfish of him.

"I had been hunting their headquarters back in my country." He was currently in the country of Rusland, where the Blood Court was. Miles away from his home pack. "They’ve invented a poison that could kill us. It’s called Anti-Superno." Most gasped in shock and the others snorted, thinking it was an impossible thought.

"The death of some of my people is the proof. The Blood king is right. My race is their target for the mean time. They want to wipe us out. But they were also after other races."

"Why didn’t you tell us sooner, Alpha King? This is quite alarming." The Mer King who was dressed in a white tunic with trousers and he had an oversized boots. He had the human legs but didn’t bother to transform his upper appearance. His curly hair was wildly tucked behind his fin-like ears. He had a large crown, that fits on the top of his head. And then his trident that he’d been holding all the time.

He quite resembled aquaman, only that the Mer King was leaner and younger looking.

"They could have gotten my son. Zavien is missing for a month now!" King Raindel exclaimed. Even the gentlest race could be menacing when in rage.

"Pardon, King Raindel." Queen Estrella was now on the edge of her seat. "Prince Zavien is missing?"

"Yes!" He stood up, getting restless. "We’ve been searching for him ever since."

"Maybe he just strayed out of your forest to enjoy the outside civilization." The fae commented.

"He could have done it but he would be back within a day. But it’s been a month now. My son isn’t a rebellious one." He spat to the fae and then he turned to Zek. "The hunters might had abducted him and you just told us about their doings? Why did you keep it, king of wolves?"

"We couldn’t be so sure that the hunters may have had him, Elven King." Dravin chimed in. It was then he realized why Zek was hellbent on him being alone in Dhasma City. Because his brother knew of such danger. But he could have told them about it.

"You better had an acceptable reason about it, wolf king." Bryar, the Gargoyle king next to him, uttered, another shifter race.

"Anti-Superno could kill a supernatural on the spot. Hunters finally succeeded to have a weapon against us. But as I said, they’re main target is my people. Most of you were out of reach with the rest of the world. Not even most of my people knew about them. I don’t want to cause panic to everyone. Attacking them is useless without a counter for their poison. And who knows what else they had in store for us?"

"Laia said you had the poisons." King Karlyle announced.

Zek groaned inwardly. Dread filled his lungs. He knew Laia wouldn’t be saying anything about it if she wasn’t forced to. And he bet that she was compelled by one of the royals. A stronger vampire can manipulate another vampire.

"And she survived the attack from drinking a human blood directly." Karlyle continued. "If she didn’t, she would certainly die." Then he looked at all the people in the room. "Laia is a pureblood vamp. She was injected by what they called Anti-Superno."

"Yes. She survived because of the human blood." Ezekiel confirmed it. "The poison had no effect to humans. But lethal to the supernaturals. But some, they won’t kill. They take them for the experiments."

King Raindel plopped back on his seat. "My son... What if they had him and did something to him." Worry etched the face of the elf.

Zek wanted to blame himself if the hunters truly had the Elven prince. He heaved a deep breath, ready to spill some more. He had to lay it all now. "I already had someone to make the antidote, and my people would raid their facilities and rescue those they captured."

"Did you bring one of the samples, Alpha King?" Queen Estrella asked.

"Yes."

"Can’t the elves survive the poison? They have the most healing ability among us." The Coven queen asked in curiosity. "And who do you have to make the cure?"
