Chapter 115: Chapter 114

Chapter 114

"No way in hell I’d trust you—" She blurted out in her face.

"—You’d rather lay it on the daughter?" Carmen was looking in Lorna’s direction, who was failing to hit the center target of the archery.

"—Or Lorna." She wasn’t done yet with her first comment. "Or anyone else." Why would she be fucking trusting the daughter of her mother’s killer?

"Hmm." Carmen nodded her head slowly. "That’s no fun at all. Your loss, Melisca. I could be pretty useful to whatever you’re scheming."

"Or you’d be pretty dead."

Carmen chuckled at that. "Belittling me?"

"No. I’d rather you not throw your life at my feet. I’m not a very responsible person."

She gasped mockingly. "Who says I’m throwing it? I’m making it useful."

Melisca was just somehow relieved that no one was within earshot around them because they were not having a conversation about rainbows and unicorns.

"Useful?" She cocked a brow at her. "Why? Do you have any idea what’s on my mind?" The redhead was acting all suspicious. It was as if she knew that she was up to something. What was more uncanny was that she seemed to have the idea of what it was about.

She sighed. "I’m no mind reader. And I’m glad I don’t have that ability because it’s boring to predict people. Where’s the excitement in that, honestly?"

Melisca eyed her, who was having a lopsided smirk. "What happened to the uptight Carmen who was being a sphincter about my boots?"

Carmen burst out laughing. "I didn’t know you could play with that word, Lorwey. That was when I thought you’d play under my thumb."

She gave her a look that said she didn’t find it funny.

"I was just testing the waters." She stopped her outburst. "But, anyway..." She scooted closer to her. "What’s the plan?" Her voice was low enough that she was the only person who could hear it. "Or if there isn’t yet, what’s the goal, hmm?" She was even wiggling her eyebrows at her.

Melisca tilted her body away from the woman. Her own brows furrowed.

"Fariss! Get back here!" Macky shouted in their direction.

Carmen smiled sickeningly at her as she stood up. "Watch me make a target of that perv’s ass." And she started walking away.

Melisca snorted. Glad to know that she wasn’t the only one wanting to. "Impress me." She uttered.

Carmen turned her head back and winked at her. She couldn’t have heard that. The redhead was already a few steps away, and she only mumbled it to herself. She could be something else, not entirely human, but that wasn’t of her concern. Her plate was fully loaded already.

She followed her every move, curious about the woman’s threat. Carmen stood at the side of the platform, before the line. Macky was behind her, giving her instructions as to what her ears could pick up. Other people were murmuring, especially the other senior trainees that were sitting a few meters away from her. They were in a group, not paying attention as the juniors were having their time on the center.

"I’ll let you grab my ass if you let me hit yours." Carmen mumbled to Macky when he was standing close behind her. Watching her posture to take proper aim at the target at the other end of the platform. It was quite a distance, actually.

Macky’s eyes bulged at what he heard. So, he stepped closer to her. "What are you implying, Fariss?" His last word was a hiss.

Carmen tilted her head behind her and gave the perv a saccharine smile. "I’m dying to tap your arse too. The feeling is mutual."

The man looked around in alert, checking if anyone was close enough to hear them or suspicious of what they were talking about. Then he turned back his attention to her.

"But I’d like a little motivation to hit the target. Can you go across there?" Her sweet, pleading voice was too much for the man who was now grinning and bobbing his head excitedly.

"Better keep your word, Fariss." He squeezed her shoulder lightly before starting on his way to the other side of the stage.

Carmen noticed the bastard was almost skipping on his merry way. He was already halfway to his destination.

Now, aim first. Celebrate after.

She pulled the bowstring. Projected her target to the board far across and then released her hold of the string. She did an effortless trick to project the arrow towards the man who was still on his way to the target mark.

"Watch out!" She exclaimed perfectly in time as he was about to turn around, but the arrow was already buried in his left butt cheek. He stumbled on the ground with a loud thud as he wailed in pain.

Everyone’s gasp was audible in the arena. The small sparring at the side stopped, the talking peers in the benches halted, and even the people who were obviously looking at Melisca turned their heads on the fallen teacher, whose face was on the ground and a cupid’s arrow was sticking in his plump ass.

"Oh my God!" Carmen propped a hand to her mouth in shock. Then she slowly run to Macky as other coaches already surrounded him and helped the deserving prick up. As for her, she intentionally dragged her feet to his side because she didn’t want to get near him or even touch the arrow attached to his butt cheek.

"I’m so sorry!" That I’m not sorry. She gasped in horror at what she’d done. Girls surrounded her, tapping her shoulder. Saying comforting words to her.

Blood was surely oozing out from his wound. A stretcher was laid to his side and they moved his body on it. He was on his stomach, grunting in pain, face wincing.

"Fariss!" He howled as they brought him out of the arena.

Snickers of restrained chuckles can be heard in the background but then, one voice boomed out among the rest.

It was in the direction of the new star trainee, who was sitting at the bench below the platform. She was in her fits of laughter. That most of the people left turned in her way.

Melisca was so thrilled to have joined the afternoon session. It was by far the happiest time she had in the camp. And she owed that to the redhead. When eyes glanced at her, she finally slowed down.

"Manners, Lorwey!" Gea pointed at her.

Which I doubt I haven’t.

All the coaches left were glaring at her, even the other trainees. But boys were ogling her. She knows she looked the most beautiful when laughing, everyone does.

"Why won’t you let me be happy?" She asked mockingly. There was still a hint of chuckling in her tone. "Besides, it isn’t every day that you’d see a cupid’s arrow straight to the butt than to the heart." Another round of chuckles from some people around buzzed again. "Heard it? I wasn’t the only one entertained." She glanced at the digital clock at the arena wall. It just turned 5:00 pm sharp. She stood up and strutted to the door. Lorna followed her out.

Evening came. Melisca just finished taking a shower and went out the bathroom when Carmen entered the dorm. They were the only ones since everyone left to have dinner.

Carmen, sat at the bench at the foot of her bed, untying the laces of her boots. She sighed, tired for the day. She’d already had her dinner at the cafeteria. She went straight there after visiting the trainer she’d targeted the ass in the clinic. Unfortunately, there was no other damage. And she’d successfully made them believe it was an accident.

"Why try to be a terrorist when you can be an actress? I can vouch how excellent you are." Melisca commented while inside the dressing curtain. She can sense that Carmen was shuffling with her boots.

"My niceness isn’t available 24/7. Con artist could do."

Melisca caught the weariness in the woman’s tone. "Perfect aim though." She smiled as her mind recalled the event. It would be one of her unforgettable moments in the camp.

"I could have gone for one of his sacks but I already gave my word with the ass. So that’s it. Doing the extra mile isn’t my thing." Carmen stood up and went to the bathroom, ready to hit the shower.

Melisca was left snickering as she closed the curtain after putting on fresh clothes. She was going out for dinner.

And that confirms it. Carmen shouldn’t be trusted at all. The woman is something else that she didn’t know.

Ezekiel was sleeping soundly in his room in the mansion. It was already 11:00 pm. He was exhausted from all the work and worries throughout the day. Then a knock from his terrace woke him up. He slowly stood up, not worried for he didn’t sense anyone outside. But he still cautiously walked to it and opened the curtain. He saw through the glass door a sealed envelope on the floor.

His grogginess instantly gone as his body jolted from its presence. He pulled the door open and picked up the beige paper that was smooth to the touch and had customized sticker seal outside. Just by looking at it, he damn well knew where it came from.

He didn’t want to think of the worse. Not until he read what it’s about. He closed the door and flapped open the envelope. Its fragrance and fancy letters were still all the same. He fished the paper inside and unfolded it.

To the Moon Empire.

Greetings Alpha King Ezekiel Rawson Stavrus,

We hereby expect your presence on Tuesday, next week by exactly 12 midnight as a meeting is necessary for important matters about the threat of our lives and nature. Other agendas would be discussed further in person.

See you soon.

Blood Court

Then there’s the official red stamp of the vampire royalties at the end.

"Fan-freaking-tastic." He ran a hand through his hair as he tossed the paper on the high table beside the glass window. Time was really not on his side. Not the antidote and not Melisca with him to protect against the world if they found out about her.
