The Rise of the Black Plain -
Chapter 78 - 78: Training in the Spatial Kingdom
A month swiftly passed by in Dry City.
And during this period, virtually all the original citizens of the city had passed through the local public library at least once, with each of them learning at least one Blue-grade cultivation technique.
It was a hectic month for these people as they had to face long queues just about every day. After all, many of them were already at least at the 3rd stage, which allowed them to learn up to 3 techniques.
And despite needing time to get adapted to their new techniques, many citizens returned to search for defensive or attack techniques in that period. Hence, many people could be seen always standing in line, waiting to enter the Dry City Public Library.
In the meantime, several families had also moved from Yellow City, further accelerating the city's growth. And according to the estimates of the Black Plain Army, about 4,000 people had already moved to Dry City ever since Minos and his group had returned from their short trip.
Right now, Minos was cultivating within the Spatial Kingdom along with the young Lee, Alison, and the two Nine-tailed Foxes.
Lee was resting under a tree while Alison was playing with little Kyla, who had already grown a few inches since their arrival here. The growth rate of this little fox was excellent, and according to Emlyn, her daughter should be able to have her second tail in another month, which would be the second stage of her cultivation as well!
As for the two youths, they had also advanced one level each in the time period, with Lee and Alison reaching levels 24 and 23, respectively.
Meanwhile, Emlyn was lying on the side of the lake as she observed Minos while he cultivated. She was grateful to have come to this place, where she could relax and watch as her daughter gradually grew up without being disturbed by the dangers faced by spiritual beasts like them in the Central Continent.
Minos sat not far from the house while he was immersed in cultivating his specialized cultivation technique, Solar God Breath. He was in a meditative position, breathing slowly as if he was completely unaware of his surroundings.
All he could sense at that moment was the spiritual energy around him. And each time he inhaled, a flow of free spiritual energy in nature would gather around him while being gradually absorbed by his body.
It didn't take long before the sun's rays within the Spatial Kingdom passed through Minos, just as he was about to break through to the next level!
At that moment, the air surrounding the young Stuart began to distort slightly, similar to those mirages on hot days. And a few seconds later, a faint popping sound was heard!
Crack!
Following that, a surge of spiritual energy quickly entered Minos' body, pushing him to finally reach level 36!
'Ahh! It really feels nice to be stronger...' Minos opened his eyes and let out a breath. After leveling up and achieving this newfound level, his body was full of energy, to the point where he felt a sense of satisfaction rising with himself.
Shortly after that, Minos started training in his battle techniques. He first focused on training the Spatial Sword technique until he ran out of energy, executing a few dozen moves.
After which, he then ate some spiritual fruits and absorbed the energy from some low-grade crystals. Energized, he activated an array of attacks while beginning to train his defense technique, Indestructible Body.
And finally, he dedicated himself to training his support technique, Devouring Art.
But this technique had a peculiar requirement to increase the user's proficiency since he needed to use this technique on living beings or spiritual arrays. He would either have to waste several crystals in an array to train this technique or engage himself in constant battles to train it effectively.
Devouring Art did not consume free spiritual energy present in nature; it was only effective against using the energy stored in living beings or when it was manipulated by spiritual arrays. So, it was not possible for Minos to simply train this technique using any other method.
As for why Minos wasn't engaging himself in fighting anyone, well, this was because he had already surpassed the soldiers who were at his power level and also because he preferred to train within the Spatial Kingdom.
He also couldn't use this technique on Emlyn since she possessed much more than just 100% more spiritual energy compared to Minos, which would let her to simply ignore the effect of his technique. After all, she was almost at the 6th stage, while Minos was just a little over halfway through the 4th stage.
Finally, after finishing his training and taking a long shower in the Spatial Kingdom, Minos returned to the mansion. He wanted to stay in Dry City for a few more weeks before finally departing for the Cromwell Kingdom, where he would participate in the Spiritual Tournament.
...
As Minos walked out from his residence within the local government mansion to the administrative part of the building, he encountered a stunningly beautiful young woman with long raven hair who was approaching him.
She had alluring curves and a cute expression that would make anyone rethink her age.
That was Ruth.
She glanced at Minos for a moment and soon noticed a subtle change in his spiritual energy. 'Huh? Did you level up again?' she pondered as she probed the young Stuart.
She then spoke up, "Well, you're already at level 36. Don't you think it's time for us to head to the Cromwell Kingdom?"
"I think it's still early. There are still about four months to go. So, let's wait one month more before embarking on this journey," Minos replied with a sly smile.
"Hmph, you must be wanting to delay my cultivation by making me stay here. Maybe you don't feel comfortable being accompanied by a beautiful young woman who is far stronger than you..." she retorted in a teasing tone.
"Haha, I am sure that you wouldn't have delayed your cultivation since you must have a lot of spiritual crystals with you. As for the other matter, I don't mind being protected by a beauty like you..." Minos replied flirtatiously to Ruth.
Upon hearing this, Ruth blushed and retorted before departing, "Hmph, you think I'm going to fall for your conversation? I'm not like your Stone Island's little bitch!"
'Hehe, this we will find out...' Minos whispered in a low voice as the corners of his mouth slightly curled up.
Apart from being the most talented person Minos knew, Ruth was also incredibly beautiful!
She had a beauty that could easily move the masses. Her flawless face and seductive body could make any man's blood boil!
For these reasons and the fact that he was a young man at the beginning of his romantic life, Minos harbored specific desires for Ruth. After all, it was difficult to resist such feelings.
The two had been spending a lot of time together since Stone Island. In these situations, the sexual tension was quite common...
...
After clearing his mind of the indecent thoughts, Minos arrived at his office and received some reports from Secretary Mia.
Firstly, according to Mia, the city was experiencing very fast growth, and soon the old city walls would be rendered unusable. And this would leave the city exposed to anyone who wanted to enter here, including possible wild spiritual beasts.
Secondly, according to the soldiers stationed at the coast, the base in that place was about to have its construction completed, being in accordance perfectly within the deadline to receive the Nash family's ships within one month.
"Hm, I see. It's good that this base is almost ready. This will avoid any delay in our first export to Stone Island," Minos sighed, then said with a solemn look. "As for the city's wall, make arrangements for a new one to be built.
We are going to do this one around 10 kilometers from the current city. That should be able to accommodate the current size of our town, and also avoid the need to do it again in the near future. We will also make four checkpoints, each having a small operating base for the Black Plain Army."
Hearing all of this, Mia nodded and said before leaving the office, "Okay, young master. I will ensure that these matters are resolved as soon as possible."
'This will also provide an excellent measure to employ these immigrants from Yellow City for the time being. It will still be a few months before they can be hired for local agriculture...' Minos pondered as he calculated with his fingers.
It would be good if these people who have already moved to Dry City would not remain unemployed. And with the new city wall, these people could have a temporary occupation for the following few months.
That would stimulate the local economy, with more people buying goods and paying for services within the city.
The Black Plain Army would also be recruiting again soon, but the number of people it would employ was still too small to make a big impact at the moment.
...
Following that, the next few weeks were uneventful in Dry City until it was time for another harvest.
With this, regular trade with Stone Island would start quickly, and as soon as these goods were sold, the Black Plain could reinvest these crystals in further development of more areas within the city.
Along with that, it was also time for Minos to embark on his journey to the Cromwell Kingdom, a journey which he had postponed since meeting with Ruth on Stone Island.
