The Return Of the Invincible Heiress -
Chapter 68
Chapter 68: Chapter 68
No matter what, everyone was happy. The atmosphere was good. Alexander smiled.
"The reward is ready. Whenever you want to take it, just go to Louis," he said.
Everyone laughed, and some people ran to Louis immediately. Alexander did not say anything else. He walked down the podium and went to Avery.
"Dr. Annie, aren’t you hungry? Let’s eat together," he said.
Avery smiled. "Sure."
The two of them walked to a small table. Alexander pulled out a chair for her in a gentlemanly manner.
"Dr. Annie, take a seat and order food."
Avery was still thinking about her precious Miracle. She said absentmindedly, "Oh, okay."
A few minutes later, Alexander came over with a tray and placed it in front of Avery. There was chocolate cake and cherry pie as desserts, and steak, fish, foie gras with gingerbread toast, and barbecue as the main dishes. The beverages were yogurt and lemonade.
Avery’s eyes lit up. "Thank you."
She ate her favorite cake first, then had some salad. Afterward, she had her favorite foie gras with gingerbread toast. As she ate, her body stiffened slightly.
"Are these Avery’s favorite foods?" She looked up and met Alexander’s smiling eyes. Her little face could not help but blush. Fortunately, she was wearing a mask.
"Why aren’t you eating?" she asked pretentiously. "You should eat too."
Alexander smiled. "Okay."
He picked up a fork, took a piece of sushi from Avery’s bowl, and put it in his mouth. Avery’s eyes widened again.
"Why did he eat my food? Forget it. He brought the food over anyway!"
"It’s very fresh. It tastes good," Alexander said. He picked up a piece of sushi with his own fork and brought it to Avery’s mouth.
"Dr. Annie, have a try."
Avery blinked. ’What the hell is he doing? People are watching.’ She was speechless.
She glanced left and right. The others were either surrounding Louis to ask for a reward or looking at photos to choose a car. No one was looking at her.
She opened her mouth slightly, took a bite, and chewed slowly. It was indeed delicious. A sweet taste seeped into her heart.
Alexander said, "I’ll bring another one for you."
As soon as he finished speaking, someone rushed over and whispered, "Mr. Moran, Ms. Moran has woken up and is calling your name."
Alexander suddenly stood up. He suppressed his surging emotions and said politely, "Dr. Annie, I’m sorry. I’m going to see my sister now. I’ll eat with you another day."
Avery waved her hand. "Sure, go ahead. Your sister is the most important."
Alexander looked at her deeply and left.
Avery thought as she ate, ’Since Lucy has already woken up, I should go back tomorrow morning! I miss the food my mother cooks.’
At this moment, it was dark outside.
In a secret room of a mansion in Valemont City, a few people sat in the darkness, staring intently at the video on the screen.
The video was taken from high above. The background noise was very loud, buzzing constantly. The scene was a little blurry and rather dim—it was filmed at night. There were only street lamps and car lights. Obviously, it was filmed with a drone.
In the video, a sports car was driving at a moderate speed on the mountain road in the middle of the night.
Just as the sports car exited the mountain road, a truck suddenly rushed out from the corner and rammed into it. The sports car immediately slowed down, but the truck still hit it in the middle and knocked it over. The truck then flipped sideways and pressed against the sports car.
The camera zoomed in on the sports car. The door on the driver’s side opened, and a bloodstained hand reached out as if to call for help. Yet no one was there to help. After struggling a few times, the hand stopped moving.
If it weren’t for the background drone buzzing to remind everyone that this was a real event, people watching might have thought it was a crude black-and-white horror movie.
The camera continued to zoom in. On the other side of the car was a long-haired woman covered in blood. Her head rested on the console, and the roof of the truck had collapsed on top of her. The camera could not capture her face, only the blood that kept flowing down from her head. It was almost certain that the woman had died on the spot.
The camera zoomed out. A masked man climbed out of the truck’s cab and stumbled a dozen yards away. He sat down on the ground, pulled out a pack of cigarettes, and started smoking. He smoked one cigarette after another.
The video fast-forwarded a few minutes. An SUV sped over and stopped abruptly. A few people rushed out of the car. One of them was Alexander. The drone quickly flew away.
In the video, Alexander rushed to the sports car, leaned into it, and tried to carry the woman out, but he failed. After looking around, he got into the driver’s seat of the truck and tried to move it.
The tilted truck moved a few times and retreated while maintaining its position. Alexander’s driving skills were superb. The others slowly carried the woman out of the sports car and placed her on the ground to be resuscitated.
At the same time, Alexander rushed to the truck driver and pulled him up, interrogating him about something. But soon, for some reason, he grabbed the truck driver and threw him out. The driver exploded as soon as he landed, leaving no traces.
Everyone was shocked by the bloody scene.
Alexander then rushed to the woman, picked her up carefully, and ran. The others followed him. After they had run quite a distance, a dazzling flame flashed. The truck exploded, too. No clues were left.
Everyone’s pupils constricted. The person who planned this car accident must have been a pervert.
Alexander and the others tried to rescue the woman. An hour later, Alexander carried her into his car and left quickly.
"This is the video I received five years ago," Richard’s voice sounded in the darkness.
"The woman in the car was Lucy. Do you think Lucy can really survive this accident?"
The others in the darkness looked at him, their eyes filled with surprise. They thought Richard was behind the accident and found it a pity that Alexander escaped both explosions.
