Chapter 82: The Hero Who Froze the World (And Her Long-Suffering Parents)

Chapter 82: The Hero Who Froze the World (And Her Long-Suffering Parents)

The witch’s eye fluttered open to reveal an unfamiliar ceiling, woods chipped and marred by ice glitters, as the gaps sprayed frosty dust to tickle down her cheek.

"Are you alright, Demond?"

The witch’s icy gaze fluttered upon that tender voice before sighing, still staring at the frosty ceiling, intrigued and exhausted. "Are you, Adrei?"

"Well," the dragon chuckled, her frostbitten fingers petting Demond’s forehead to ease her pain. "Far from it, I’m afraid."

"Seem we’ve been through hell, and it came from a certain gremlin who froze her diaper as an infant, now grew up and almost froze a whole town." The witch groaned as she held her nauseated head, buzzing and coiling into itself.

"Fortunately, the ice fog didn’t last long, about five to ten minutes, I believe." Adrei glanced away, the frozen window in the tavern was still emitting frosty fogs, as if writing itself from the ice.

"...what’s with that resigned tone that suggested something incredible happened?" The witch raised her cackling spine to stare at Adrei’s draconic eyes, meeting the witch’s diamond in a second, before glancing back to the iced window.

The witch blinked, then blinked. Reality registering at a breakneck speed as she swung her gaze for the same window Adrei is staring. Oh, it’s nothing, just a normal freezing window that emitted freezing airs like a fridge! Yeah! Like any window...

Like...any...window...

"...Adrei." A dammed hesitation coiled in the witch’s throat as her lips curled up into a wry smile. "Don’t tell me..."

Right. How in the world did she treat all this as merely unfamiliar or normal? Seriously?! An ice-glittering ceiling and a frozen window, even her frosty mana was about to freeze ten times over with this temperature! What happened to the town when that brat Alice was still using her cabbages and potatoes as target practice in her dream?!

"...it’s better if you look outside yourself, Demond." A sigh came from the Dragon as she noticed the witch’s faltering gaze. Ah, that look when all sanity almost seeped out of you, truly a familiar sight the Dragon Queen never wished to be used to.

"Holy mother of fuck! What the hell has that brat done?!"

Have you wondered the literal definition of ’modern ice age’? Demond now had an answer. Just ice glitters everywhere. She glanced up, ice on the rooftop. She glanced down, ice on the ground. She glanced to the left, ice on the magic streetlight. She glanced to the right, ice on a random baby cart.

And what’s with those flying iced objects that paraded around like mini meteoers?! Who in the hell play with objects like this knowing full well what will happen?!

"Demond." Slipping through the crack from the tavern’s frozen door, the gap was like a solace to a warmth after the town’s disaster. "Um...so..."

"So...." Demond took a deep breath, before her smile practically glared into the Dragon Queen’s dodgy eyes. "How many god damn cities did Alice destory, huh?"

"...only a few dozens." The Dragon Queen blurted out the answer, as if a few dozens cities were the best they could hope for.

"Ah...a few dozen coming of the ice nuclear bombs, hmmmmmmm....." The witch nodded with a smile, her head bobbling like spring out of control. "Hm. Hm. Hm. Then I guess only a few dozens is fine...as if! What the fuck am I supposed to make of this?! We have stayed in this town for less than a week, Adrei! And now?! The climate here can now house thousands of penguins without a sweat!"

"Demond...please calm down..."

"Are you...seriously...suggesting me! Me! Of all people, to calm down with this nonsense?!" The Father...well, the Mother of Alice pointed at herself, her nausea no longer banging her head as loud as her flaring frustration that could consume even the tyrant’s flame.

As the Dragon watched the Witch’s body shivering in complete disbelief and rage, Adrei could merely sighed before embracing the witch, petting her back to calm her seething breath. "I’m sorry, Demond. I...throughout the years, I tried to stop her, but...I was met with a fierce resistance."

"...I know it’s not your fault..." The Dragon’s wife grumbled, as her aching head slid further into the Dragon’s pillows with a whine, the softness clasping down the pain a little as she slipped her hand to her husband’s back. "I know full well how strong that brat can potentially. It’s...it’s my fault, Adrei. I...how did things come to this?"

"...there was no one hurt, Demond." As if muttering the town is a small price to pay compared to what happened to the demons Alice massacred, the Dragon Queen petted the silky hair tenderly, careful not to tip over the boiling cauldron of rage.

"I knew that much, Adrei..." The ice witch grumbled again, stumping her bare feet onto the ice. "That brat just lacks self-control, I know...I know...but ugh. All the braggings in her letter probably got to me, because I really feel like I need to shoot an ice chalk right at her forehead right now."

"Please do, my love. All of humanity and dragonkind would appreciate so." The diplomat and the husband inside Adrei shook hands with these words. The only confirmed holdback for Alice the menance so far has been Queen Elsara, and Demond would likely be the second after this incident.

"...tch, at least pretend you’re frustrated, or else I would be the only one...being like an idiot." The isolated life of the witch caught back to her as she glanced over to the pedestrians, her eyes furrowing as the only resemblance of behavior of an old father, as the pedestrians were now walking and talking casually with thicker furs and coats, expressions completely unbothered with smiles and laughters like the Ice Pollen Missile Strike is a Tuesday’s morning.

"The World has changed, Demond." Adrei merely chuckled as she embraced Demond. "Look at it from another perspective: Does it not mean the Hero literally forced the World to change around her? Your daughter is equally as impressive as you, my love."

"D-don’t stroke my ego at a time like this..." The witch’s ear reddened at the comment as she lowered her blushing cheek within Adrei’s grasp. "In a way, I did still fail as a parent, you know? Like, with all this mess."

"But in doing so you created a freedom for the victims who would be out of the Demon’s grasp, don’t you?" The Dragon chuckled.

"Tch...you’re the worst when you always treat serious stuffs like that..."

Demond sighed again as her cheek merely sunk further into the pillow, finding it a comfortable warmth admidst this cold that her daughter created, which the Dragon’s tender smile and arms reciporcated in kind.

This moment, where they were truly alone in this frozen world, last as long as Alice could hold her snickers, however, as that familiar snicker echoed beside them.

Demond frowned, then furrowed, before her head turned towards her. There she is, dressed in a simple blue dress with a white blouser, and a blonde hair with blue eyes suggested she would any normal noble girl, when she is in reality the destroyer of Demons, the hero of Mankind, and now, adding ’the Destructor of Rouen’ onto the list that has been abandoned in the Royal Accountant’s room for complaints and concerns.

"You two seem to be going at it with each other." Alice snickered, her hand dragging Yasen in her human form, her mouth bubbled as if completely drained dry.
