The Reborn Wife Of The Tyrant CEO -
Chapter 279 - 275
Chapter 279: Chapter 275
I was currently living with Damon, and we were considering getting back together, so Luna and the gang couldn’t help but constantly watch Damon and me.
It was typical for a couple looking to reconcile to show up together at an engagement party, but we didn’t.
Damon gave me a calm glance, then shifted his gaze as if he didn’t know me.
I frowned.
"What’s going on?" Luna asked in a low voice, watching as Damon left.
"I’m not sure." I shook my head.
Seeing Damon ignoring me, Ariel whispered something to Karen before walking over to greet Damon.
Unexpectedly, Damon wasn’t cold to Ariel today. Instead, he chatted with her with a smile. He was quite a bit taller than Ariel and even leaned slightly when he was listening to her.
This scene left Luna and the others at a loss. Even Zoe was dumbfounded.
Zoe seemed more inclined to see me as a rival, not Ariel.
"Eliana, did you have a fight with Damon?" Mitch asked curiously.
"No," I replied indifferently.
"Is it because..." Mitch hesitated. He glanced in Damon’s direction, then pulled me aside and said, "Eliana, I know there are some things I shouldn’t hide from you. If I tell you, can you promise not to blame Damon?"
I didn’t say anything; I just looked at Mitch..
Mitch sighed and said, "Catherine was pregnant when she died. Although Nancy said the child was Damon’s, I think it’s impossible..."
Jones had already told me about this, so I didn’t react.
Seeing my calmness, Mitch looked a bit nervous as he asked, "Eliana, you’re not shocked, are you?"
"I already knew. And also, I knew that Damon gave Ariel money to go abroad for treatment." I said without a ripple in my heart.
Mitch blinked and asked, "He gave Ariel money? How come I didn’t know?"
"Because he didn’t ask you to do it", I gave a cold laugh and said, "Even though he said he wanted Ariel to disappear forever, he was still soft-hearted in the end."
Mitch was stunned. I knew he had always wanted to help Damon and me get back together, but there were just too many issues between Damon and me.
I returned to Luna and the others, waiting for the engagement party to officially start.
Before that, I saw Jones mother,
She was in a wheelchair. Compared to the last time I saw her, she has deteriorated a lot. She had lost a lot of weight and looked very weak.
However, there was still an undeniable joy on her face. Her son was finally marrying the daughter-in- law she approved of, so she was naturally happy.
Guests greeted Jones’ mother. She just smiled and nodded, seemingly too weak to speak.
When our eyes met, she was taken aback and then signaled Jones’ father to wheel her away.
"Jones and Scarlett are over there!" Clara suddenly pointed out.
I looked over. Jones was wearing a white suit with a small golden buttonhole on his chest. Scarlett was in a white fishtail dress with a necklace of small golden flowers around her neck. Their outfits were a perfect match.
While everyone was looking at today’s stars, I felt Damon staring at me.
Just as I was finding this strange, I suddenly felt someone push me hard. I was wearing high heels and lost my balance; stumbled forward a few steps before stabilizing myself.
At that moment, Jones and Scarlett’s gaze immediately shifted to me.
Jones’s eyebrows furrowed slightly as he instinctively let go of Scarlett’s hand.
Scarlett immediately grabbed his hand again.
A second later, Jones reacted. His face changed a bit, and his gaze fell back on Lauretta. He didn’t pull away from Scarlett. but his expression seemed a bit reluctant.
Everyone was looking at me. My relationship with Damon and Jones was already complicated, a favorite piece of gossip. My sudden rush towards him made people suspect that I was still in love with Jones and had come to disrupt his engagement party.
I quietly moved back. I didn’t know who had been standing behind me. Ariel and Karen were both a bit away from me.
Then, my gaze swept over Nicole’s face. A triumphant smile flashed across her lips.
"Eliana, are you okay?" Luna came over to ask.
"I’m fine. I think it was Nicole who pushed me." I replied.
Luna turned to look at Nicole, fuming, and said, "I’ll get her back for you!"
I didn’t stop Luna. I didn’t know how she planned to take revenge, but Nicole definitely deserved a lesson.
After a while, I didn’t know where Luna and the others had gone. Only Zoe stayed by my side. She kept probing me, trying to figure out what was going on between Damon and me, but I didn’t tell her.
"Eliana." Jones had somehow appeared behind me. I turned around to see him looking at me, my surprised reflection in his eyes.
"Congratulations." I managed to keep my emotions in check, congratulating him softly.
Then, I couldn’t help but check the surroundings. Scarlett was currently accompanying Jones mother, unaware of me. There was a Roman column between us, barely shielding me
Jones moved a step to the side, hiding with me behind the column. He was very close to me, his head lowered as he asked, "Why did you come today?"
"You came to my wedding." My answer was obviously hypocritical, but it was reasonable.
"But you know you make me waver, regret, and feel discontent, don’t you?" Jones sighed. He wanted to lift his hand to tuck a stray lock of hair behind my ear, but his hand hesitated mid-air and fell back to
his side.
I took a couple of steps back, not wanting to get too close to him, just to avoid sparking any juicy gossip.
This move seemed to dampen Jones’s spirits a bit. He managed a forced smile and said, "I won’t do anything that’s out of line. You have my word."
I looked down, not sure how to respond to that.
Suddenly, a ruckus erupted not far off, "Someone’s getting it on upstairs!"
Hearing this, Jones and I both jumped out of our skins and then immediately joined the crowd, heading upstairs. All the while, I was scanning the crowd for Damon and Ariel, but they were nowhere to be found.
My heart sank, and I quickened my pace towards the second floor, which was already getting cramped. At the end of the hallway, a man and a woman were all tangled up and heavy into each other, their clothes in disarray.
The woman was none other than Nicole, and I didn’t recognize the man. He appeared to be a bit on the chubby side.
