It was late when I got home. My dad was already asleep, but my mom was waiting for me in the living room.

"Hi, sorry. We had a great time at dinner, so we’re a bit late," Aaron explained as soon as he saw my mom.

My mom seemed a bit upset, but since Clara was my good friend and Aaron was her boyfriend, she didn’t let it show.

"Glad you’re home", my mom replied.

"We’re heading out now," Clara quickly said.

"Take care on the road," my mom nodded with a smile.

Once Clara and Aaron left, my mom’s smile faded. She asked, "Did you really go out to dinner with them?"

I nodded and replied, "Yes"

If my mom found out I’d been to the hospital to see Damon again, I could be sure Jones was the one who told her

I calmly poured a glass of water and waited for her to continue

But my mom didn’t ask any more questions. Instead, she seriously advised me, "Good I can’t keep you locked up forever, Eliana. You have to make smart decisions."

She then handed me my phone. "Here’s your phone. Go to bed"

"Okay, mom," I got it. I happily took my phone and hummed a tune while heading upstairs. As a woman of the 21st century life without a phone was a challenge I hadn’t found a steady job yet so I hadn’t even gotten around to getting a computer Life seemed pretty barren.

Once upstairs, I immediately plugged my phone in to charge and turned it on

I had over twenty missed calls most of them from Damon and a few from Jones, Luna and Joshua.

I had 99+ messages on WhatsApp

I glanced through each one replied to those who needed a response, and finally landed on Damons chat

Damon had witten multiple messages. Did you like the movie?

Why aren’t you replying? Where is your phone?

Eliana, you’re not messing with me

You got clues from me and then ignored me?

The movie has started. Are you messing with me?"

The last message was sent the night I ignored him, and it said. "I’m outside your house?"

He’d sent me a message to notify me, but because i didn’t reply he probably felt like a fool and left soon after

Seeing all the messages he sent,

I remembered the past, I used to send messages to Damon just like this, but the difference was I was forced to stand

I was suddenly a bit happy Damon finally got a taste of being ignored.

He even got beaten up. Did that mean there was justice in this world?

It was a bit immoral to think this way but it was fun if i block him now, he’d probably be livid

In the end. I gave up on the idea, fearing Mitch and the others would come after me again.

Damon’s injury should’ve been kept a secret. He was the heir to Coleman Co and the only son of the Coleman family

If news of his brain injury got out, it would definitely affect the company’s interests. After all, his business acumen was quite impressive.

"Eliana, Damon’s parents, went to the hospital to see him", Luna said with a hint of sarcasm during our phone chat. And that Ariel, she goes three times a day like a hursel

"Let her be. Hopefully, her sincerity can touch Damon," I calmly replied.

"I think that’s highly unlikely," Luna said. "Do you think she intentionally leaked the news of Damon’s injury for revenge?"

"I didn’t think so. After all, she was hoping Damon would fall in love with her now. She wouldn’t do something so stupid."

I replied, "I think it’s more likely someone from Daniel’s end did it. Even though he’s in the ICU, someone must know about their feud."

"Maybe you’re right. I have to go see what toy those two are fighting over now!" Luna’s kids suddenly started making a fuss, so she had to hang up in a hurry

As a mother, her life was indeed much busier.

I was lounging on the rocking chair in the yard, hoping to catch some sleep. Just as I was about to doze off, a call woke me up, and the caller surprised me.

"Eliana," Lisa Coleman’s tired voice came through the phone after I answered it.

"Can I help you?" I politely asked.

"I’m in the city right now. Do you have time to meet with me?" Lisa asked.

I didn’t have a reason to meet with anyone from the Coleman family, so I gently declined.

But Lisa didn’t give up. "Eliana, we were family after all. Let’s meet for a meal. I have something to discuss with you."

"You can tell me over the phone," I replied.

"Let’s meet anyway. We haven’t seen each other in a long time. I’m near your house right now. It’ll only take half an hour", Lisa’s tone was sincere, without a trace of superiority

My parents were both at work today, and I was home alone. Although I could meet Lisa, I didn’t think it was necessary.

In the end, I still refused. After hanging up the phone, I sat in silence for a while. I lost the mood to sunbathe, so I got up to go back to the living room.

"Eliana," someone called from outside the door, "Can we talk for a bit?"
