Chapter 172: Chapter 168

I was speechless.

Just as I thought, Damon wasn’t one to take a hit without giving one back. I genuinely thought he’d just got beaten up, and the guy walked away without a scratch.

"Why were they fighting? I thought you said Daniel went to apologize to Damon?" Clara appeared confused.

Cooper, having been a bystander, surely knew what went down, but he seemed hesitant to speak and even glanced at me.

That got me a little scared. I was seriously worried he’d say it was because of me again.

Cooper cleared his throat and said, "Daniel said some nasty things about Eliana. Damon had a few drinks in him, so he lost it."

I just facepalmed, speechless. Cooper might as well not have said anything.

Now everyone was looking at me with different expressions on their faces.

"When Eliana was crazy about him, why didn’t he appreciate it?" Luna, always direct, said angrily.

Mitch quickly tried to calm her down, "Honey, don’t get mad. It was Damon’s fault in the past. Hasn’t he paid the price now? Let’s not bash him; he’s already injured"

Luna just rolled her eyes.

Aaron then chimed in and said, "I seem to remember seeing Mr. Coleman in the tabloids with various actresses a few years ago, but I’m not sure if it was true or not."

Aaron was very calm when he said this as if it was just casual conversation.

"You remember correctly, Damon was never quiet back then. After his divorce, these past two years, he’s actually settled down. He really brought it on himself." Clara didn’t mind Aaron adding fuel to the fire. In fact, she was fanning the flames.

Mitch and Cooper had intended to keep me here to console Damon, so he could recover. Instead, it turned into everyone else gossiping about Damon.

Both of them were extremely awkward. After all, they were the ones who sided against me with Damon.

After a while, it was already late, and Damon was finally brought back.

He was now in a hospital gown, with bandages wrapped around his head. He looked weak, but his eyes were very clear.

Mitch and Cooper immediately followed into the room, asking the nurse about his condition.

After the nurse had given her instructions, she left.

We were all standing around Damon’s bed, but only Mitch and Cooper seemed genuinely concerned.

As for me, I wasn’t worried about him, I was just concerned about how to explain to my parents if I got home late.

In my past life, when I was in the late stages of cancer, didn’t Damon not care about me? Aside from discussing our divorce, he hardly ever saw me.

Remembering the pain I had suffered, I even began to regret coming here today.

"Damon, you’ll have to stay in the hospital for a while. What are you going to do about the company?" Mitch asked.

"I’ll delegate to the other executives for now, don’t worry" Damon’s voice was a bit hoarse, probably because of the alcohol.

Mitch nodded, then thoughtfully poured Damon a glass of water. Luna, Clara, Aaron, and I were just standing there like ornaments.

This was the first time Damon had been so seriously injured, didn’t Jones know? Why hadn’t he come?

My mind started racing. In situations like these, Jones should be concerned about Damon’s condition. This hospital was where Jones worked.

And Damon’s Injury was to the head, which was exactly Jones’s field of expertise.

"I have to go, Damon. Take care of yourself, and hope you recover soon." I put aside my messy thoughts, said a few words to Damon, and then asked Clara and the others to take me home.

Damon stopped me, "Wait!"

I looked at him, puzzled.

Damon looked pale after losing blood from his injuries.

His brows were distinct, his pupils deep. If you only looked at his face, he looked like a character from a black and white comic.

He obviously had something to say but was hesitant.

He wouldn’t bring up our issues in front of so many people. Knowing him, he probably wanted to ask why I didn’t show up like we agreed.

I didn’t want any unnecessary misunderstandings between us, so I was about to explain when several people rushed in.

"Damon, what happened?" Ariel was at the forefront. She went straight to the bed and asked anxiously.

Damon looked at her, his frowned brow furrowed even more, and the coldness and disgust in his eyes were clear.

Even though I had seen his attitude towards Ariel before, I couldn’t help but sigh when I saw it again.

The contrast was too clear

"What happened? How did you get into a fight?" Nick asked worriedly. "You didn’t tell me anything. If Jones hadn’t told me, I wouldn’t have known Jones knew it, and he told Nick.

"I’m fine. I just ran into an inarticulate idiot, and I couldn’t help myself." Damon’s attitude towards Nick was decent, and the atmosphere eased a bit

"Is your head injured? Does it still hurt?" Ariel was very concerned; she leaned in to check Damon’s injuries.

Karen started to speak, "Damon, you don’t have to treat Ariel like this. She ran over here as soon as she heard you were injured. She didn’t even change her

clothes."

Then she glanced at me, "Some people are better at putting on a show. They came to visit early. I thought she had really given up on Damon."

I raised my eyebrows, and I seemed to understand more and more why Ariel and she got along so well, it turned out they both liked to provoke.

"What are you talking about?" Luna immediately raised her voice, "Mitch and Cooper asked Eliana to come. Without her, Damon might not have cooperated with the treatment, making things worse. You let Ariel try to persuade him. See if he’ll listen."

Mitch immediately chimed in, "Right, I asked her to come."

"Karen, there’s no need to target Eliana. Your unreasonable behavior is annoying" Cooper said coldly.

Karen’s face immediately turned pale. Clearly, she’d been hit hard by the sharp criticism

"Mitch, Cooper, my sister is just worried about Damon, and she’s not targeting Eliana." Ariel immediately came to Karen’s defense.

"All right, you guys carry on, I’ll be heading out. Ali, y’all heading out too?" The things I wanted to say, Luna and the gang have already said them, and I don’t need to add fuel to the fire

Clara gave Aaron a nod, answering, "Sure thing, we’ll walk you home."

Damon was looking at me all quietly Obviously he didn’t get the answer to his question earlier. It must be driving him up the wall.

So, Clara, Aaron, and I took off first On our way home, Clara got a text from Luna

Then she excitedly told me, "This is hilarious Ariel and her crew got kicked out by Damon. She’s even crying her eyes out."

"You guys don’t like her or something?" Aaron suddenly popped the question.

"Of course, who’d like a homewrecker?" Clara shot back, not mincing her words.
