Chapter 38: Fae Ale Turned Shame
(Music Recommendation: Me And The Devil - By Soap&Skin)
"Don’t worry, I won’t bite—unless I have to,"
She swallowed a lump in her throat and he chuckled faintly, the sound drowned by the deafening activities of the night.
"I’m joking, it’s a celebration, be free" he delighted, taking a sip from his cup.
"What are they celebrating?" she questioned and the moment she did she mentally cursed herself. ’Idiot! He would know I don’t belong here!’
She bit her bottom lip at her careless mistake.
But the stranger didn’t seem bothered by her question and replied. "They are celebrating because someone of importance is back after a very long time." His eyes veering briefly at the ongoing activities.
"I haven’t seen this face before." He pointed with intrigue.
Isadora’s heartbeat quickened at his perception, he was able to single her out in this crowd, she had a hood on and thought she was somewhat invisible, but looking back at it now it seemed like she was the one out of place.
Everyone else had thin pieces of clothing on or dressed simply.
"I-I-I’m here for Rav," she replied with hopes mentioning a name would make him believe she was included here.
"Rav?" he pursed his lip in thought. "I think he’s over there somewhere." He pointed at a particular area.
"Thank you." She cautiously turned and walked away, briefly looking over her shoulder.
The stranger kept his gaze on her.
Isadora forced her way through the dancing crowd, feeling uncomfortable with all the sweaty bodies.
Her eyes darted to a couple engaging in a lewd act in the open, it was no new thing because of where she grew up but this couple was not a stranger and it caused a reaction out of her.
’Rav’ she thought with wide eyes watching him aggressively kissing a maiden on his lap, bare-chested, a hand covering her breast and the other between her legs causing her to moan and grind her hips eagerly for his advancement.
A sting found Isadora’s chest as she watched the sensual display.
She stepped backwards like the mere sight was too much for her to comprehend but she bumped into someone.
She turned and found herself face-to-face with the green-eyed stranger once again.
"Found him?" he asked with narrowed eyes.
Isadora said nothing as she walked away and the tears threatened to fall on their own accord.
Logi watched in amusement the mannfae stormed away, a smirk on his lips.
Sparing a look at Rav engrossed in his activity he walked back to the girl to resume his objective.
"Drink?"
Isadora took the horn cup without question and chugged the full thing down her throat. She coughed. "The aftertaste is different."
"Indeed, just at the tip of your tongue but when it hits it’s gone and you just need more." He gave her another.
Isadora eyed it and thought reasonably not to take it but when the image of Rav touching another woman flooded her mind.
She grabbed the cup without second thoughts.
’Why do I feel hurt?’ she wondered as an unfamiliar feeling found her chest again, a sensation that even the taste of the ale couldn’t bury.
She sniffled and took another sip.
"How does it taste?" Logi asked.
"I can’t explain it, just when I get to it’s..." she replied, confused.
He chuckled. "That is Fae ale, it’s insatiable."
Isadora looked into his green eyes. Dazed and bitter, she uttered a demand. "I want more"
He brought the cup closer, his other hand gently caressing her cheek.
Isadora couldn’t take her gaze away from the mesmerizing Fae as he tilted the cup to her lips, letting her drink.
A few drops spilled down her chin, and his thumb brushing the trail, sending a shiver down her spine. Her breath hitching when he brought that same thumb to her lips, unable to resist, she parted her lips and his thumb slide into her mouth.
The beat of the music suddenly echoed, reverberating and drowning her senses.
The events around her suddenly blurred, temporarily ceasing to exist.
The cold air kissed her skin as her body swayed to the beats, the ache in her chest vanishing, replaced by the overwhelming need to let go, to gain release, and to feel alive.
Isadora couldn’t tell if it was the ale or the sound of the instruments consuming her to do something she had never done before... but she needed this.
Her hands glided from her neck down to her breasts and then to her hips, each touch awakening a swell of thrills through her.
Isadora felt a hand on her waist belonging to the stranger who had set her free, he made no further move, just simply swaying to the beat with her, his hot breath kissing her neck.
She needed him closer, for his lips to touch her, it became a strong desire drowning her insides and pooling deep in her stomach.
She prayed for his hand on her waist to move further, anywhere in fact as long as it didn’t stay in one position.
It was at the tip of her tongue to whisper her desires. She just needed... something.
Isadora flicked her eyes open, staring up at the handsome stranger. But his attention wasn’t focused on her, It was distant, fixed on something far away as a knowing smirk played on his lips.
Puzzled by his distraction she followed the direction of his gaze, the bonfire made it harder to see but it was unmistakable was laid at the other side, in the dark where the activities were less.
Her breathing hitched and her heart slammed against her chest painfully.
It was impossible to steady it with those silver eyes pinned on her with such intensity.
There was something unexplainable in that gaze, and whatever it was, it sent a tightening sensation around her neck, like an invisible hand gripping her throat.
But it was small compared to what she felt directed at the stranger behind her.
Was she hallucinating? What has the ale done to her?
Finally getting a grip of her senses she pulled away from the stranger as It became suddenly so cold.
Gasping in realization, she felt her exposed skin, where did her cloak go? And the tunic was gone too? A strong wave of shame consumed her when she realized she had just a piece of fabric that covered her breasts.
"What’s wrong, Isadora?"
Her heart slammed a loud beat as her eyes traveled to the stranger. ’I never told him my name’
There was an arrogant smirk on his lips and a crazed look in his eyes as if he had come to some sort of fruition.
In terror, Isadora ran away with hot tears streaming down her cheeks.
