Chapter 133: Tainted Words
Nyssa’s eyelid twitched at her name being used by her. "Its commandress, to you."
Isadora gulped at her icy tone. "Forgive me."
"Should you not be within the training grounds? What’s a crowned warrior doing here?" Nyssa’s cold blue eyes skimmed Isadora from head to toe.
Isadora awkwardly covered herself more with her cloak. She only had Kraven’s tunic on and even though it stopped at her knees she still felt exposed.
Nyssa was the last person she wanted to see like this.
"I-I was on my way there, Commandress."
Nyssa’s heartbeat stilled momentarily. From Isadora’s messy hair, swollen lips, and the way her body quivered from the faint gush of wind, it was very easy to tell she had been freshly fucked.
The path Isadora came from led to the highest top of the mountain, Kraven’s residence.
Pain and rage stormed Nyssa’s body, the adrenaline coursing through her as she pinned the girl with a glare.
But then, like the snap of a finger—a scornful smile graced her lips.
"Gods! How more shameless can you be?"
Isadora froze at her words, suddenly embarrassed. There was no way she could tell right? But how stupid of her to think so.
"You’re not only a cheater, but a fucking whore."
Isadora took a step back at her words, it felt like a blow to her face, she glared hard at the female warrior. "I’m not a whore."
She chuckled deeply, the sound as lifeless as her eyes. "You and me both then, at least I’ve got more status."
Isadora’s heart skipped a beat. "What do you mean?"
"You really thought you were something special? Gods! Don’t make me laugh."
Isadora stiffened at her words, her nails digging into the material of her cloak. The smug glint in Nyssa’s eyes gave the notion she wasn’t done with whatever she had in mind.
Isadora swallowed hard, as her heart pounded in her chest. The solution was to leave. She attempted to do so but Nyssa blocked her.
Isadora’s heartbeat spiked as she gripped the dagger strapped to her holster; Her presence was suddenly threatening.
Would she stand a chance against her? It was laughable to think of such when their past duel drilled into her head like a marked memory.
However, instead of violent action, Nyssa tilted her head to the side, an inhumane gesture that scared Isadora more than anything.
"Did he kiss you like you’re the only thing that mattered?" she asked. "Whispering filthy words to your ears as your body sets on fire? Did it feel good when he couldn’t get enough as he kept going like a madman?"
Isadora’s stomach twisted at her words. They were too close to the truth and got her wondering how she knew the details.
Nyssa loved the curiosity and confusion in Isadora’s eyes. She was such a foolish girl and would enjoy watching that look crack the same way her heart did just now.
She would make Isadora wish she would rather die than think of Kraven again. She didn’t deserve him and was nothing more but an expendable weakness.
Nyssa took a step closer, prompting Isadora to take one back. "I know you’re wondering how I know this. Your naive mind is searching so hard for an answer."
Isadora gasped when her back met the wall and Nyssa stood before her. She wasn’t only intimated with her height but the aura that clung to her—it screamed of bloodlust and loathing.
Isadora was completely paralyzed and scared to draw her dagger against her. Nyssa’s aura wasn’t threatening enough to deliver a blow... yet.
Nyssa grinned, the smile spreading on her lips. "The answer is simple... Because he said those same things to me."
Something inside Isadora cracked, the ghoulish sound of her heart snapping in two.
"Oh, you poor thing... Didn’t you know? I’m sure you’ve heard the rumors about me being the closest female to him. There’s a reason for that, Isadora."
Isadora’s breathing hitched, her chest rising and falling harshly.
"We’ve spent passionate nights together many times over the winters. Mostly when he’s irritated or needs to release the stress..." she sighed closing her eyes as if she could recall. "Gods! I missed those times."
The tears were on the verge of falling, but Isadora didn’t let them, eager not to give Nyssa the satisfaction she needed. But the pain was too much, almost suffocating her.
Nyssa veered her gaze back to Isadora, relishing in the terror and pain drowning her orbs. "You thought you were the only one?" She clicked her tongue as she reached for Isadora, but she turned away forcing a chuckle from Nyssa.
"Don’t be too heartbroken, I’m sure he would call on you from time to time if you’re that good."
"Stop..." Isadora mumbled faintly as her breath shuddered.
Nyssa responded by grasping her chin and forcing her to look at her. "What? Can’t deal with the truth?"
"You’re lying," Isadora replied.
The image of the way Kraven let her touch him, being vulnerable, it can’t be all fake. Right?
"Poor Isadora, I too have been vulnerable with him many times. I’ve been with him since the first time we created this court and dreamed of taking this world together."
’She’s lying,’ Isadora thought as tears slid down her face but there was no indication that Nyssa was.
"I guess he couldn’t resist bedding a stray, you were a fresh body after all. And now he has tasted it... he’ll be bored."
Isadora’s breathing grew ragged. She hated the tears for coming forth and giving Nyssa the satisfaction she wanted but Isadora couldn’t help it.
Her words were as true as the blade to her heart.
"And when he gets bored, do you know who he would seek? Who have stood by his side for winters without question?" Nyssa said as the pain mirrored in her eyes, mouthing a word that crumbled Isadora’s entire world. "Me."
Isadora forced her chin away from her iron hold and turned away.
A scornful laugh released from her. "Did you think he loves you or something? Sweetheart, Kraven isn’t conditioned to love. Growing up in a brothel do you even know what love is? You don’t and neither does he, get that through your skull!"
"Report to the training ground in ten minutes and get your penalty, at least have the decency to show up like a warrior."
With one last satisfied look on Nyssa’s face knowing she had done what she had set out to accomplish, she turned on her heels and walked away.
Isadora tried to steady her breathing, her hand clenched against her chest. Suddenly the heat of last night bled into her mind.
The way he touched and looked at her was all tainted now. It blackened like the hole in her heart, becoming nothing more than an illusion that shattered her.
