Chapter 120: A Plead To Ease The Madman
"Stop," Isadora said again, in tears.
Ignoring the look pinned on her from the Ravenites. They didn’t matter now, Rav’s life did.
She could feel it, she always did because she got to experience it several times. That madness, the smell of bloodlust, and the excitement that held his silver eyes caused a glow to them as he fed on pain and misery.
The need to ruin.
The thirst.
Isadora knew stepping up was a bad idea but she was determined to stop this, her heart couldn’t take any more of it. It hurt her to see this... to see Rav hurt, to see... Kraven succumbed to the burden.
It didn’t matter what his reasons were anymore, it was her fault.
Isadora stared at him with pleading eyes, unable to stop the tears from gushing as she took steps closer.
Nyssa opened her mouth to speak, to stop her before she turned the situation for the worse, which she would.
They couldn’t stop him when he went like this except using force, what made her think that tears could pull his mind back?
But when she stepped closer to stop the stupid girl, Logi grabbed her arm.
Nyssa glared at him. "She’ll make him worse!" she hissed.
"Let her, Nyssa," Logi replied, keeping his eyes on Isadora.
He didn’t know how far this would go and was ready to use force if needed, but there was this flicker of hope.
Because he observed how Kraven had gone still the moment her voice reached for him.
Kraven kept his silent yet deadly glare pinned on Isadora as she got closer. His pulse roared, to finish what he had started. But his little bunny walking toward him with those eyes was... irritating.
He exhaled slowly, his head tilting, flashing her a bloodied grin. "This is a spar, Isadora, don’t interfere," he warned. "Or else I’ll make it worse."
Isadora ceased her steps instantly, lips trembling knowing he would do something drastic if she interfered. Rav would get hurt or worse because of her.
"Please," she whispered softly, eager to pull him out and appeal to him. Her pride didn’t matter at the moment, it was about saving a life. "Let him go."
Kraven’s smile slowly faded, and his fingers twitched against Rav’s strained limb. Why was she looking at him like that?
He hated it.
And the way her soft voice coiled something within him. It made him... hesitate.
His heart pounded profusely as his jaw clenched. He didn’t want to stop. He never wanted to. And yet... she was making him hesitate.
Kraven’s irritation grew... yet there she was petite, big pale amber eyes staring into his soul, holding his gaze, shaken but unwavering. Her presence was close and her honeyed scent cracked into his mind.
"Only because you begged, love." He released Rav and rose to his full height, standing in front of her small frame, eyes descended on her like the only breathing being.
Isadora held his stare, firm and brave, even though she knew he could snap her like a twig if he wanted.
His hand reached for her, but she didn’t flinch. He gripped her chin—surprisingly gentle compared to his usual roughness. The blood from his hand stained her chin.
He leaned down to her. "Don’t think this will work next time," he murmured, in a low, dark tone.
Isadora swallowed a lump in her throat as he stepped back and peeled his eyes away from her.
"The duel is over!" Kraven announced. "I hope you all learned something today. Your opponents are not always what they seem, be prepared for anything. Even a predator never shows its teeth." He dragged his gaze back to Rav, forcing his body on his feet as he held his arm.
"Your commander is capable indeed." Kraven glared at Isadora one more time. "His attention is welcomed." He turned on his heels and walked away.

"I’m fine, Isadora, there’s no need to heal me."
Isadora ignored Rav’s wishes and summoned her weaves to heal his wound. The intense silence passed between them.
But Isadora was lost in her head, what happened an hour ago played repeatedly.
Rav’s feature morphed into worry, the look in her eyes distant. She looked traumatized.
He grabbed her hand, stopping her weaves, yet she didn’t look at him.
"It’s my fault," she said in a heavy tone.
"It’s not," he assured her, hoping to ease her mind. "Kraven is just... irritated about something."
"He said if I called him Lord Raven again he would make me regret it," Isadora said. "And he did."
Rav narrowed his eyes at her words. Could that be the reason? He thought it was just his thirst being unstable.
However, it was rare to see Kraven lash out like that.
"It was just a spar, Isadora, it wouldn’t be the first time we’ve gone bloody, not with an audience at least," he explained.
Isadora’s silence caused him to worry more.
"Kraven’s not a bad person. He’s just difficult... burdened."
Isadora turned her gaze to him. "It has to do with his thirst doesn’t it?"
Rav’s eyes widened "How did you..."
"Rav... I’ve been fighting for my life since I met him."
Rav gulped at her confession. "Did he hurt you... physically?"
"He didn’t beat me up if that is what you’re asking. But I think I have walked the realms between life and death on many occasions, in different ways."
"Alda," he murmured faintly, rubbing his forehead.
"Rav," Isadora began. "Tell me about this thirst of his..."
Rav stiffened at her demand. He gulped and said. "Let’s not dive into that... it’s a dark place."
"I want to understand."
"You can’t understand him," he said with clenched teeth. "Get that thought out of your head, you may have stopped him today but it’s not guaranteed you will next time."
"Rav, I—"
"He’s not a beast you can tame!"
His outburst caused Isadora’s mind to travel—when she tried to ease his mind. The response she got in return that almost cost her life.
