Chapter 360: Chapter 360 - I thought that I lost you after all I did

"Dad, why are you here?" Matilda asked, her eyes filled with tears.

Her father embraced her and, after pulling away, he commented,

"You look absolutely stunning, but something is missing - a tiara."

Matilda was overjoyed to see her father, but his remark confused her. He hadn’t answered her initial question, so she asked again,

"What do you mean?"

The general smiled as Sabrina handed him a pink box. He opened it and revealed the most exquisite tiara Matilda had ever laid eyes on.

Her heart skipped a beat, wondering if her suspicions were correct. She asked, her voice trembling,

"Dad, what is happening? Why are you...?"

Sabrina placed a beautiful bridal flower in her hand, and the general linked his arm with hers, his smile unwavering. He chose not to provide any answers.

He guided her down the aisle with gentle steps, Sabrina following closely behind.

"Devin holds all the answers to your questions," her father finally said, sensing her desperation.

Simultaneously, the guests rose to their feet, and the wedding procession began to play.

Tears streamed down Matilda’s cheeks as she caught sight of Devin, looking more handsome than ever, standing at the altar with Robin by his side.

She was taken aback by how quickly Robin had changed into a cream tuxedo, matching Devin’s attire.

Devin’s gaze upon her was the most tender she had ever witnessed, overflowing with love.

Matilda didn’t know how to process everything, realizing that this was her surprise wedding.

She came to understand that all this time, when she thought Devin was neglecting her, he was actually working behind the scenes to make everything perfect for her.

As she reached the entrance of the garden with her father, the guests stood up, and she was equally surprised to see some of her schoolmates, particularly the one who had shown interest in Devin.

The atmosphere was vibrant and beautiful, and Matilda couldn’t help but shed tears of joy.

Sabrina gently wiped her tears away with a pristine white handkerchief, while her father handed her over to Devin, smiling and saying,

"I love you, and I am overjoyed to witness this day."

When he returned from his trip and spoke with Devin, he had explained all his plans to the seasoned veteran, omitting their quarrels but mentioning Matilda’s pregnancy.

The general was filled with excitement as he anticipated the arrival of his grandchild.

Alongside Cobby, Robin, Sabrina, Lizzy, and Daniel, he provided unwavering support, all while keeping everything a secret from Matilda.

Devin smiled at her and gracefully dropped down to one knee. Matilda was speechless, but she decided to give Devin her undivided attention, despite the multitude of questions swirling in her mind.

As he began to speak, it felt as though Devin could read her thoughts, addressing each question with his words.

"Matilda, I apologize for not being the man you desired in recent weeks. I was preoccupied with orchestrating all of this to bring you happiness."

He continued, "Designing the wedding gown was an arduous and time-consuming task, as I wanted to recreate the gown you had once shown me. If all of this doesn’t bring you joy, I am willing to do more."

Tears streamed down Matilda’s face, and Sabrina gently wiped them away as Devin spoke further.

"Regarding the question you asked that day, I told you that you weren’t ready for the answer. But now, I believe you are."

Matilda vividly recalled the desperation she felt when Devin refused to answer her question. However, as Devin spoke, that desperation slowly dissipated.

"Yes, Matilda, my love for you never wavered, despite the obstacles we faced. You are the only woman I love, and that will never change."

The general was taken aback by this revelation, as Devin had never shown any signs of the challenges they had encountered in their relationship.

Ultimately, he attributed it to maturity. Furthermore, Matilda’s respect for Devin grew as he chose not to divulge the details of their struggles, keeping it between them.

"Now, if you still love me as you always professed, all I want is for you to be my wife. I will take care of the rest. I simply want you to be the woman I wake up next to and fall asleep beside every day."

Matilda beamed with joy and reached out to pull him up, but Devin continued speaking.

"I want you to be the one I share my dreams, happiness, and deepest fears with. I promise to bring you happiness and be a wonderful husband to you."

As Devin rose to his feet, applause erupted from all directions, and he gazed at Matilda with anticipation.

Matilda wiped away her tears once more before speaking, her voice filled with emotion.

"Devin, I thought I had lost you after everything I did. Thank you for forgiving me and loving me unconditionally."

"I promise to be a devoted wife and to love you for eternity. I also promise to always stand by your side, offering my support and doing my best to fulfill your needs."

She paused, and the guests were ready to applaud when she leaned in closer to Devin. Everyone assumed she was going to kiss him, but instead, she whispered in a hushed tone,

"Before we proceed, promise me that you won’t leave me sexually unsatisfied."

Devin burst into laughter, leaving everyone curious about what the bride had said to evoke such a reaction from the groom.

Matilda frowned slightly, waiting for his response as he leaned in and whispered back,

"I promise to fulfill all your sexual desires from now on."

A wide smile spread across Matilda’s face, and she was about to kiss him when the priest interrupted,

"No, young lady, you still need to recite your vows and exchange rings first."

After exchanging vows and rings, their lips finally met, and the crowd erupted into cheers. Devin kissed her passionately, as if trying to make up for all the times she had denied him.

During the reception, Robin fulfilled his duties as the best man, taking care of Devin. However, when he looked up, he noticed that Sabrina was nowhere to be found.

He excused himself and went in search of her. As he approached, his expression darkened upon seeing who she was embracing so affectionately.
